Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 407 - 407 194 Forbidden Knowledge
407: Chapter 194: Forbidden Knowledge 407: Chapter 194: Forbidden Knowledge The night descended upon Avalon, quiet and serene.
In the library on the fourth floor of the Mage Tower, illuminated by Magic Mirror Lamps drawing inexhaustibly from the Earth Vein Spiritual Power, only the faint sound of a blonde youth flipping through books amidst towering shelves could be heard.
Kovis quietly perused a hefty tome, gingerly reading lines of Lorelette script that felt slightly rough to the touch.
The youth’s golden eyes scarcely blinked, his spirit immersed in the text, striving to absorb the wisdom and experience accumulated by generations of mages over thousands of years.
Since he had requested and received permission from his Lord, he’d often come to the Mage Tower after finishing his busy duties to study the magic knowledge in the books once owned by Lady Aphrodite.
The meditation method used by Lorelette Spellcasters to restore Magic Power had significantly reduced his need for sleep, making it seem wasteful not to devote the hours from dusk to the wee hours of midnight to studying magic.
Moreover, when encountering parts he could not understand, he even had the chance to receive guidance from the mysterious Ancient Magic Emperor.
However, during these hours, Lady Lora was not always present; he rarely encountered this venerable being at night, as she mostly rested within the Netti Card during these hours, presumably to ensure she had ample time to appear and instruct Leon during the day.
…After several hours had passed, the youth sighed deeply and put down the book titled “The Origin of Magic Power: Exploring the Properties of Two Types of Magic Energy.”
Even though it was just basic theory of Lorelette Magic, the advanced content after thirty pages was still too obscure.
The various defined terms required more systematic foundational knowledge to understand before he could continue reading.
“Is it still too early…?”
Kovis raised his hand to control the object, levitating the bulky volume back into the upper shelf.
He was not trying to achieve greatness in one step; rather, he had recently wanted to delve deeper into Object Control Magic, in which he excelled, to break through his understanding of Magic Power control, which is why he attempted to study more detailed theories and deepen his understanding of the nature of Chaos Magic.
The perilous fights in the underground mines had left Kovis vexed by his lack of means against large foes.
Though his swordsmanship was decent, constrained by the limitations placed by Pilireno in his early years and only just beginning real physical training, he was only slightly stronger than an average person, far inferior to powerful Knights of Valor, let alone compared to the powerful Miss Olivia.
The flexibility of magical methods allowed him to not fear battling those of flesh and blood, but while a sword could threaten the life of a commoner, without greater force it was hard to deal actual damage to metallic beings like the “Melter Demon.”
If he could enhance his efficiency in releasing Chaos Magic…
The youth looked up, his gaze sweeping across the rows of ancient books, reading the names imprinted on the spines.
“Element Classification and Fusion”…
“Alchemy: An Overview”…
“Advanced Alchemy: Soul, Life, and Matter”…
“Summoning Book: Contracts and Control”…
…Aimlessly searching for knowledge that could aid him, from time to time he took down a book that flew into his hands, patiently flipping through.
Shaking his head, he placed another overly complex Magic Guidebook back onto the shelf, Kovis couldn’t help feeling a bit anxious.
Suddenly, the youth paused, his gaze halted.
He noticed a thick Magic Guidebook without a name on its spine at the very end of the row.
The book’s conspicuous purple cover stood out sharply against the predominantly gray-brown hue of the other books on that shelf.
Moreover, during his frequent visits here, he seemed to have never seen such a conspicuously colored volume in this row.
…Was it moved by Lady Lora during the day?
Kovis was not too surprised; the library was not regularly organized, perhaps the Ancient Magic Emperor had casually placed the book there after browsing the materials.
However…
Why was there no title on the spine?
The youth couldn’t help reaching out to take the purple-covered Magic Guidebook from the shelf.
An inexplicable curiosity surged in his heart…
He suddenly had an indescribable premonition.
That within that book, there was the knowledge he was currently seeking….
However, just as the youth’s fingertips were about to touch it.
Whoosh——!
A terrifying surge of Magic Power suddenly swept across in front of Kovis, severing his flow of Object Manipulation Magic.
The Magic Guidebook was yanked out of thin air toward the library entrance, and with a snap, it landed in the palm of a fair-skinned young girl.
Five slender fingers, like an unshakeable prison, pinched the purple cover and back.
Kovis was slightly startled.
He turned his head towards the entrance and then saw Lady Lora, who had arrived at the library at some unknown time.
Withdrawing her right hand, the white-haired young girl indifferently looked at the “book” in her hand.
Daring to appear before her, quite bold…
Had it lingered too long in Aphrodite’s quasi-spiritual field, becoming overly eager?
Miss Mage had initially planned to burn this vile object to ashes directly, but on second thought, destroying this illusion would not touch the essence, and on a whim, decided to find it some “entertainment,” and teach it a lesson properly.
Raising her left hand, Lora drew a slight gap in front of her.
Space and time seemed to be sliced open, revealing the lightless, colorless Void, like a narrow strip of “nothingness” incapable of reflecting light.
Lora raised the purple book, found a nice angle, and hurled it forcefully inside.
“Off you go~!”
The boundless Void instantly swallowed the object thrown into it, the young girl flicked her fingertips, and the rift swiftly zipped shut like a zipper.
Clapping her hands together, Lora felt pleased, then turned to look at Kovis.
