Chapter 400 - 400 191 Flying Thunder God_3
400: Chapter 191 Flying Thunder God_3 400: Chapter 191 Flying Thunder God_3 The latter didn’t go into too much detail about the truth, as by the time the letter arrived, most Dwarves had already started their journey home.
One might as well admit to knowing very little about the purpose and intentions of this “Dwarf Mission.”
Amongst these Dwarf Remnants, only nine stayed in Avalon as a precaution.
Four of them were technicians known as “Melter Technicians,” while the other five were all ordinary Miners.
And while the other forty-two Dwarves preparing for the return journey had not yet truly set off, Leon did not forget to arrange for Knight Larian to lead a sufficient number of Soldiers to follow them back to the mines, using the mining team’s familiarity with the underground to quickly clear any lurking threats posed by Wild Goblins within the mine tunnels.
Before departing, Hem and the others also took the opportunity to return to the mines to look for usable supplies and to check the main mining stations from the principal mine shaft.
Although Leon was arranging for all the mining machinery called “Miners” to be transported back to Avalon, he did not stop the Dwarf mining team from reclaiming some of the machinery, hoping that these stout gentlemen would make thorough preparations for the journey, ensuring safety on the way, regardless of whether they would return to serve him in Avalon in the future or not.
As long as they still lived in this world, these ancient remnants would remain a part of his network.
After finishing the second letter set to be sent to Archers Castle, with Olivia’s help in sealing and stamping it, Leon leaned back in his chair to sneak a lazy rest, giving his mind a slow reprieve while his gaze involuntarily drifted out of the window.
…Last night, using his curiosity about ancient history from a thousand years ago as a pretext, he carefully inquired the Dwarves about the “Pope Court” and “Illaril.”
What he could be sure of was that although the Dwarf Miners had never personally visited Rolannar to see that Mage Illaril, nor do they know of the name “Lola.”
But at least the Master Mage who ruled over the “Pope Court” was indeed a petite young girl with a white robe and golden wand, white hair, and golden pupils, according to their testimony.
Leon, in fact, had never doubted his little teacher’s honesty about her identity since there would be no point in deceiving him about that.
But another fact proved his previous confusion.
The Dwarf Miners were quite certain that they had never heard any news of the Pope’s passing before they went underground.
Moreover, after asking for the date of the ancient Klonia Kingdom Calendar when they went underground and comparing it with the Holy Solar Calendar recorded by the Church that documented the “Holy Prophet Illaril” ascension,
If the Church’s record of Lola’s death was not mistaken.
Then his own little teacher must have passed away a considerable time after Lady Aphrodite conducted the Netti Card Magic that led to the emergence of the spirit-related field.
That almost proved the contradiction he discovered was correct.
Lady Aphrodite’s attempt at a resurrection ritual came first.
And Miss Lola’s death came after.
That is to say, the “teacher” that Lady Aphrodite attempted to resurrect, according to the residual echo, must be someone else, right?
Feeling Olivia come up behind him to gently massage his shoulders, Leon squinted his eyes comfortably amidst his contemplation.
His mind, however, was still actively pondering…
It should be just like this.
He realized that although Lola had never denied it, she never explicitly stated that she was the one Lady Aphrodite wanted to resurrect.
This idea, it seems now, has always been his own presumptuous speculation and wishful thinking at the time.
Recalling the conversation of several months ago and clarifying his misunderstanding, Leon couldn’t help but wonder who exactly was the “teacher” Lady Aphrodite was willing to sacrifice her soul to bring back from the dead if it wasn’t Lola?
…Enjoying the tender massage from his lover in a drowsy state, Leon started feeling somewhat sleepy.
In his half-conscious state, the only connection he felt seemed to be the portraits of the black-haired lady that filled the walls of the room opposite.
Thinking back to how Aphrodite had made so many statues of that beautiful black-haired lady that were “realistic” in various senses as memorials in the workshop, Leon was irritated at his own obtuseness at the time.
Of course, he felt that it was also somewhat due to Lola’s ambiguous stance at the time, neither confirming nor denying whether Aphrodite was actually her disciple.
That’s odd as well…
Since the teacher mentioned in the residual echo is someone else, why didn’t Lola deny that Aphrodite was her disciple?
Or could it be that Aphrodite actually had two teachers?
Or right…
perhaps one was her immediate “mentor,” and Lola was a “tutor” in some aspect?
Scratching his head, Leon sighed and gave up on thinking about it for the moment.
No matter who it was, it actually had little to do with him.
Leon was very grateful for how the relics of that pink-haired lady had helped him, but as a mere Mage Apprentice, he was definitely unable to fulfill her unachieved wishes,
What can he do now by figuring out who that black-haired lady is?
Could he resurrect someone whom not even the creator of the Netti Card could bring back to life?
Moreover, even if there was one in a million chance, even if he truly achieved divine powers in the future and reached a transcendental and sacred level on the path of Magic like Lola, to resurrect that person.
After coming back to life, the person would discover that Lady Aphrodite had sold her soul and passed away entirely for her sake.
She would probably be very heartbroken…
…In the silent study, Olivia soothed her lover’s fatigue with gentle care, utilizing the techniques she learned from Kovis and Elena.
After a while, noticing Leon had peacefully fallen asleep without knowing when, she stopped massaging him.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps from outside the door and, not wanting to wake her resting lover, she went to open the door herself.
Little Lina, dressed in a maid’s long apron, saw Olivia peek her head out and quickly hushed her footsteps and said in a low voice, “Sister Olivia, a Lord Knight called ‘Filipo Anquilla’ has arrived outside.
He said he has brought a letter from Count Eriv.”
Olivia sighed helplessly.
Well, it looks like she has to wake Leon after all.
