Chapter 377 - 377 180 Golden Lion Knight_2
377: Chapter 180 Golden Lion Knight_2 377: Chapter 180 Golden Lion Knight_2 Olivia smiled cheerfully, hands on her hips, and patted Kovis on the shoulder with an air of maturity that resembled Jerry’s cousin, “Ah, cousin, your sister will cover for you from now on.
If anyone dares to bully you, I’ll help you beat them up.”
The sudden upgrade in generational status clearly delighted the girl.
Kovis could only offer a wry smile in response.
Yet…
even though it was just a pretext to cover up his background, the feeling of having family once again…
Family…
His eyes, filled with gratitude, turned towards Leon.
The boy felt an all but forgotten warmth for that long-missed term.
…
A few days later, with preparations complete, it was ultimately decided to hold the knighthood ceremony for Olivia and Kovis in the main castle hall.
Initially, Azeryan suggested the banquet hall because the front position in the main hall was occupied by ancient emblems and totem carvings, leaving no room for the Lord’s high-backed chair.
However, Leon still chose the foyer, as he didn’t wish to pose pompously in front of Olivia and Kovis, sitting boldly in his chair like a pretentious sovereign.
If not for the fact that the posture for knighting while standing would look too bizarre, and did not conform to the coronation rules, he’d even prefer not having his lover and partner kneel before him.
Though the people of this world were quite accustomed to it, seeing one’s wife kneel in public still felt a bit strange to him.
If this were his previous life’s online world, Leon wouldn’t dare to imagine the barrage of martial arts combos that would be thrown at him.
Despite that, every night when they closed the door to their room, they’d willingly adopted even more submissive postures than that.
…
Though the ceremony was not as grand as the two large-scale ones in Glade County,
the fortress hall was lined with carpet and full of warriors standing at the ready with swords, still maintaining a solemn and dignified atmosphere.
In terms of the setting alone, it was much grander than when Leon and his two friends had their humble ceremony in the village’s old house.
The knights present to witness the ceremony included not only Azeryan and Lokhak but, disregarding Mr.
Brian Sr.’s concealed identity, also Larian and Canis.
As the current Lord’s advisor, the former naturally would not miss such an important occasion.
As for the latter, he had simply been wandering around Avalon and upon hearing of the event, was eager to join the fun.
As a warrior, Canis held great respect for the golden-haired girl who had defeated him, and now, he even hoped to find an opportunity for another thrilling challenge against that formidable girl.
Seeing that the Wolf Family Young Master did not seem intent on causing trouble, Leon approved his participation.
After all, each addition of a bona fide knight as a witness added more weight to the ceremony.
The four knights stood to the left and right of the high platform’s emblem, with Mr.
Brian Sr., Hawk, Zabron, and other guards and knight attendants, a dozen or so, lined up along the long carpet.
The other attendees stood quietly behind the warriors, watching.
The only unusual presence was Miss Raya, who sat in the upper-level gallery of the hall, overlooking the entire ceremony and ready to commit this memorably significant day to canvas with her brush.
The deep bell tolls from the tower clock inside Avalon marked the beginning of the ceremony.
With armored Olivia and Kovis steadily processing through the line of onlookers, they came before Leon, bowed their heads in respect, awaiting their investiture.
The four knights at their side then drew their knight’s swords and held them in front, as a ceremonial guard of honor.
Drawing the Pseudo-Thorny Sword from his waist, Leon lightly tapped Kovis’s left and right shoulder pauldrons, “In the name of courage, before formidable foes, you must be brave and fearless, without a trace of cowardice…
In the name of virtue, defending the peace, you must protect the people and overcome tyranny.”
Clearly, the details of his speech were different from the usual oath.
Leon had modified the oath, much like his boss had done when conferring the Square Banner on him.
After all, Kovis might be one thing, but Leon certainly couldn’t tell Olivia to pledge so-called “allegiance to the King.”
Approaching Olivia, he looked at the girl’s excited eyes, smiled at her, and winked.
He remembered that Olivia had always regretted not witnessing the day they three were knighted.
Now, he wondered whether she felt fulfilled being part of it herself.
Placing the blade on Olivia’s shoulder pauldrons, Leon continued with his revised declaration.
“…In the name of natural justice, aware of injustice, you must uphold righteousness, punish the wicked…
In the name of the knight!
Adhere to the creed, you must be loyal to your oath, casting aside vain thoughts.”
After finishing, he sheathed the Pseudo-Thorny Sword and took the prepared knight’s swords, presenting them to both.
“I, Leon Pendragon, hereby confer upon you the title of Knights of Avalon.
And grant to Selva, as the fief of Knight Olivia,
And to Eckley, as the fief of Knight Kovis…” Leon recited the rest of the ceremonial script by the book.
Clutching the beautiful two-handed long sword in her hands, Olivia lifted her head, her golden eyes sparkling as she too pronounced her oath.
“…I shall fight with honor and life, for Avalon, for Orland, for the lands and the people.”
Leon nodded.
“Rise, Knights of Avalon.”
…
The ceremony drew to a close, and once the armor was laid aside, what followed was a celebratory feast for the birth of the new knights.
With the team of maidservants recruited by Mr.
Brian Sr.
from Selva assisting, the banquet for dozens of participants proceeded smoothly.
The Pendragon Family’s young servants had already managed noble feasts several times in Selva, and now they were each naturally appointed as team leaders for the new maidservants.
