Seeking monthly pass~)_2 Filled with overwhelming anticipation for the story ahead, the girl felt as gloomy as if a cat had scratched her heart.

“Alright, alright, there is still a long way to go,” Leon chuckled, nodding repeatedly, inwardly thanking Mr.

Luo Guanzhong for his help across time.

It seemed that Olivia wouldn’t be willing to go home to sleep until she had heard the entirety of the Three Kingdoms.

However, Leon also worried that this little girl, so fond of Second Master, might end up crying when she heard about the defeat and retreat at Wheat City.

After being affectionate for a while, the two got up and started a brand-new day in Selva.

Perhaps because she harbored resentment from the story being cut off, Olivia’s blows during the morning sparring were much heavier than usual, leaving Leon struggling to defend himself.

In the backyard, the clash of swords rang out, and time during martial arts practice passed particularly quickly.

Before long, it was morning, and the North Slope Watchtower timely sounded its melodious bugle.

After a few more exchanges, as usual, they put down their long swords and switched to spears.

Enjoying her martial practice unusually, it seemed as though Olivia was captivated by the story from the previous night.

Deviating from her usual spear, she unearthed a broadsword with a long handle from the storeroom and experimented with wielding it like a “Guan Sword” – swinging it vigorously.

Thinking about the techniques suited for the long-handled sword, she and Leon, armed with a spear, exchanged blows back and forth.

Unfortunately, after a few tries, Olivia, looking quite regretful, put down the weapon.

The girl, proficient in many martial arts, had quickly grasped the limits of the long-handled sword’s capabilities.

“Are you done?” Leon asked, puzzled as the girl stopped.

“This weapon works fairly well on foot, but I think it would be far less effective than a spear or a long spear if I were on horseback…”

Regretfully, Olivia said, “I don’t understand how Bade Knights used the ‘Green Dragon Crescent’ to break through enemy ranks and slay generals.”

Leon couldn’t help but laugh.

After all, that was fiction; in historical reality, Second Master probably never encountered a “Guan Sword,” and on horseback, everyone just used cavalry spears as usual.

Having had enough, Olivia leaned the long-handled sword against the side and once again picked up a spear.

Leon took his stance, ready to continue facing her attack.

But just as Olivia was about to wield her spear, she suddenly paused, her eyes widening as she gazed into the distant horizon.

“Is that… a bird?

An eagle?

No, that is…

a griffin!?”

“?”

Leon also followed her gaze.

His excellent vision allowed him to spot a small silhouette crossing the sky.

While unable to discern the details, judging by the altitude, he could estimate that its body was much larger than ordinary birds.

“Can you see it clearly?” Leon asked, turning back in surprise.

“Yes, I can barely make out its four limbs, large wings, and big tail.

It must be…

the same kind of creature as that ‘friend’ of yours.”

Remembering the illustrations of similar magical creatures in Leon’s magic guidebook, Olivia recalled Jun Ying, Pegasus, and Taurus, none of which were as large.

A griffin, was it?

Leon’s first thought was the creature he had arbitrarily named “Death Claw.”

But thinking more carefully, he couldn’t be sure since there could be more than one griffin in the world, perhaps just attracted by the bugle call.

Fortunately, whether it was Death Claw or not, multiple encounters had proved that the griffins of this world generally did not attack humans under normal circumstances.

According to the magic guidebook’s records,

this creature, a highly intelligent hybrid beast crafted by another Lorelettian Pope—the Creator “Helmond” —

had been extensively domesticated by the civilization of ancient mages as a companion species for humans during the long era of Lorelette’s existence.

From the moment they were created by the Pope, these creatures had a genetic affinity for humans imprinted in them.

This was probably why, even after thousands of years and many generations of wild breeding as a top predator, they still remained friendly towards humans.

After all, even if the civilization of Lorelette had vanished from the earth, other humans still belonged to the same species as the Lorelettians.

Leon thought that these big, chubby creatures, having lost their former masters, were innately still honoring their creator’s “relatives”…

Taking a few steps back, Leon waved his hands toward the distant skyline and then shouted loudly.

“Hey!

Big fella!

Look over here!

Is that you?!!!”

Shouting as loudly as he could toward the sky, Leon was not worried that the griffin wouldn’t notice him.

This sky sovereign, a creation of the ancient magic civilization, had terrifyingly good eyesight; it could see a green bean on the ground even from that height.

If it ignored him, it could only mean that this griffin was not Death Claw.

Soon after Leon’s gesture of calling out, the small silhouette descended through the clouds and indeed began to grow larger.

Leon knew that unless the passing griffin was excessively curious, it had to be his friend!

And as it gradually lowered its altitude, Leon could clearly see the color and pattern of its feathers.

Especially upon seeing the scar under its chest and abdomen left by Athias’s magic giant crossbow, who else could it be but Death Claw?

A joyful eagle screech descended from the sky, further confirming the creature’s identity.

Having not seen this majestic “big fat bird” for several months since their last parting, Leon too felt a surge of excitement.
