Chapter 316 - 316 155 Golden Lion and Luoyuan

316: Chapter 155 Golden Lion and Luoyuan 316: Chapter 155 Golden Lion and Luoyuan Lord Mansion’s afternoon meal had concluded.

Like always, Miss Treya, carrying two large baskets, left the manor and headed to Selva Village to pick out vegetables from several small stalls.

The not so large market area of the village was selling firewood, coal, tools, clothing, and vegetables.

Apart from the occasional scattering of help from various households, it was mostly young village women attending the stalls.

Within Selva, apart from the recent incoming refugees on the western side and passersby, there were hardly any local elderly men and women to be seen around the town.

Treya was, of course, already aware of the unfortunate reason behind this scene.

The village that now seemed to prosper had, just a few months ago, suffered a tragic ordeal no less dismal than one of her own…

A stall owner, a girl wearing a headscarf, upon seeing the pretty young lady with chestnut-colored thick braids, knew she had come again to buy ingredients for the lord’s household and swiftly called out to her energetically.

“Miss Treya!

Come and see what my family has grown, all freshly picked today!”

Treya, on hearing the call, stopped in front of the headscarf girl’s stall.

Born a frontier knight’s daughter from the Felu Mountains, she was no stranger to crops, and during this period, she had also come to distinguish the local vegetables of Orland.

After carefully inspecting and seeing that the ingredients were indeed fresh, she decided not to look elsewhere and told the stall owner according to the day’s menu, “Please give me four bundles of red root vegetables, two handfuls of garlic greens, two bundles of green asparagus…”

After the stall owner filled the empty baskets with vegetables, Treya paid her and watched the stall owner count the coins with a joyful face.

Underneath her quiet expression, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of self-reproach.

Even these village girls could be self-sufficient; and yet, she, a knight’s daughter, had still not found a job that she was truly capable of performing.

Compared to Martha, who was adept at calculations and understood trade.

Raya, who excelled in painting.

Sally and Vanessa, proficient in manners and dance, with abundant knowledge and from distinguished noble backgrounds.

There was also Milena, who had officially become Selva’s physician.

Treya felt that as a country knight’s daughter, she didn’t possess any talents that stood out among her peers.

The high society manners and other skills trained by the Felcon family were also something her peers could do, and they performed them better than her.

Now, wracking her brains, the only additional skill she possessed was probably the horse riding she had learned from her father, and briefly, out of curiosity, had playfully practiced sword fighting with her late brother.

But that amateur skill, purely for in-house entertainment, couldn’t compare to true warriors, probably not even to a farmer wielding a pitchfork, and was hardly considered a craft.

Now, doing extra chores for everyone and taking on more physical work each day was as much as she could think to contribute…

…Lifting the two brimming baskets, Treya felt their weight.

Having done such chores at home before, she had a tad more strength than other frail girls, which somewhat counted as an advantage in doing household chores.

Suddenly, she heard a series of clanking iron boots.

Treya looked towards the street next to the market.

She saw Sir Lokhak, the tall knight and younger brother of Sister Elena, leading nine elite soldiers clad in heavy armor, draped with black Sword Wing Cloaks, waist-armed with unsheathed blunt swords, and holding headless spear shafts, moving out of the village.

Treya recognized that aside from Sir Lokhak, the rest were Lord Leon’s guards, who seemed to be heading out for routine training with the knight.

However, she was puzzled.

Upon closer observation, she realized that in front of this formation of ten heavy-armored knights, even ahead of Sir Lokhak, peculiarly, was a girl dressed in peasant waist-cinched male garb, with golden hair coiled up, leading the group.

That golden-haired girl was younger than herself but was also holding a practice long spear and had a dull sword at her side, seemingly joining the burly knights and warriors for military training.

“Is that…Miss Olivia?” Treya murmured.

She had met the daughter of the Cavalary Captain yesterday, considering she and her companions were currently staying at their house.

That young lady and Sir Leon, it seemed, were engaged, and her status in the territory was not ordinary.

However…

why was such a delicate girl also marching with the warriors?

Indeed, she seemed to have returned from the front lines at Longka with the troops just yesterday.

That was even stranger.

Treya had never heard of a knight bringing his fiancée to the battlefield.

Actually, even the military camp should be off-limits to families and women.

Treya, who had harrowing memories from Kantadar, found it quite inappropriate upon reflection.

The military filled with rough soldiers was dangerously inappropriate for a young girl…

reasonably, Lord Leon should have understood that.

But not just the Knight Lord, as the girl’s father was the commander of Selva’s army, how could he allow his daughter at the frontline?

Behind Treya, the stall owner who had pocketed the coins looked up, saw a fellow village playmate she hadn’t seen for a month, and cheerfully called out: “Olivia~!

You’re back?

You aren’t hurt, are you?”

The passing golden-haired girl, hearing the shout, looked towards the stall.

She then reassured her fellow villagers with a smile, “Of course not, don’t worry, we’ve routed those scoundrels from Wolf Territory!”

After speaking, Olivia waved her hand and continued leading Lokhak and the warriors as they moved further away.

Treya, hearing the stall owner’s conversation with the golden-haired girl, couldn’t help but turn to ask, “That young lady was also on the battlefield?”
