Chapter 301 - 301 149 Snake Slayer_2

301: Chapter 149 Snake Slayer_2 301: Chapter 149 Snake Slayer_2 Met, incarnated as a monster, had no interest in Baron Farolis.

With a forceful swing of his left hand, he tossed his quarry aside and, with a slight retreat of his serpentine body, reached out with his right hand to grab his true target for vengeance.

Leon halted his steps, attempting to dodge, but suddenly his pace faltered, ensnared by tentacles of snake heads burrowing out from the ground, wrapping tightly around his feet.

The dense swarm of snakes converged on him as their primary target.

Slashing through numerous biting serpentine limbs with his blade, Leon twisted his body and raised his sword to meet the giant hand that loomed at him, reaching for his life.

Facing the oncoming palm that seemed as high as a wall…

It must be said that in that instant, facing a foe far larger than any human, Leon felt a momentary confusion regarding his swordsmanship, developed for combat against human opponents.

Where was the weak point?

Where could he deal a fatal strike?

Where could he deliver a stopping blow?

The conventional wisdom of his swordsmanship, honed in human conflicts, seemed utterly useless against the creature towering before him, devoid of human pain or constraints.

Thanks to the heightened reactions conferred by his growth in magic elements, Leon could clearly see the monster’s massive palm drawing ever nearer.

A sudden calm overtook his racing thoughts, and Leon couldn’t help but wonder how Olivia, had she been facing this assault, would have responded?

The Sword Master Girl, who, based solely on the principles of swordsmanship she learned from her adoptive father, had comprehended a multitude of martial arts—how would she combat such a “giant”?

Principles…

Yes!

The principles of the sword might fail, but the laws of physics surely had not!

If the creature still possessed a muscular and skeletal structure, then…

Without a futile attempt at evasion, Leon leaped with all his might, not holding back as one might in a duel with another person, and with full force horizontally slashed at the monster’s thumb.

A flash of cold steel, and, empowered by the strength of a Netti Card far beyond that of any ordinary Knight of Valor, he performed a perfect tendon cut, severing the giant thumb cleanly.

Blood spurted violently, but in the next second, the Winged Helmet Knight was caught by the same hand, now minus a thumb, and with a whoosh was lifted high into the air.

At the moment Met grasped Leon, he tried to instantly crush the knight in his palm.

However, bereft of a thumb, no matter how he tried to close his right hand, he couldn’t tighten his grip.

Struggling against the thick fingers of his foe, Leon little by little, bit by bit, managed to gradually pry open the massive palm trying to crush him.

The half-snake incarnation glared with purple eyes, staring down at the young knight in his grip, “Fool, you’ve ruined my plan.

You don’t realize what you’ve given up.”

Gritting his teeth against the pressing fingers, Leon suddenly heard Met’s voice in his mind.

Was this…the same magic used by Met that night to lure Canis away from his guard post with his voice transmission spell?

“Your plan?

Are you referring to causing me and Baron Grey Wolf to start a blood feud?” Leon inwardly countered, his arms exerting force to fend off the tightening grip of the giant fingers.

“What does it matter if I feud with a mere mortal!

I had plans for you!

Plans far beyond anything you’ve given up!

The chance to rise above the petty games of mortals!

“As a mage, you were meant to join the cause that would restore the glory of magic, to rule this land alongside spellcasters, as that distant kingdom does!

You had a chance!” Met’s furious voice chastised him through mental transference.

Having now directly clashed with the Orland Nobles, Met’s dealings within the Society, his work throughout the Kingdom over the centuries, he didn’t know how much of it he could carry with him.

Such a negligible slip-up, yet the cost so grievous, Met yearned to grind the naive spellcaster, foolishly caught up in noble intrigues, into mincemeat, inch by inch.

Met’s incarnation straightened the cut on its severed finger, and countless blood serpents emerged from the stump to reconstitute the chopped-off thumb.

He roared at the knight within his hand, “…die for your ignorance and shortsightedness!”

Leon’s eyelids twitched at the sight.

It can regenerate!?

With its thumb restored, the incarnation of Met wasted no more words and tightened its giant grasp…

(Ancient Lorelette Language)

“…Restlessness, leap, coalesce, elevate me, Omlos!

Elevate me!”

Clutching at the giant flesh of the fingers with his iron gloves, Leon roared out the spell.

The urgent and crude concentration of magic power, regardless of any misalignments in the magic technique, he unleashed the Spell to create a “Molten Flame Sword”.

Orangish-red Demon Runes, like cracks, rapidly spread across the index and middle fingers of Met despite their flawed organization.

——Bang!!!

Bang!!——Bang!!——Bang!!

The uncontrolled elemental reaction ignited intense Magic Shock Bursts within the monster’s hand.

Leon’s body was flung from the fissured, charred remains.

Like a cat falling from a height, he twisted and turned in mid-air.

With a resounding clash, Leon landed on the ground, his armor blackened and sizzling.

Barely keeping his footing, he felt an urgent sensation above his head, raised his hand to unlock the clasp, and, with force, pulled off the Wing Helmet along with the broken Lock Armor Hood.

Looking down,

the Feathered Battle Helmet, once exquisitely heroic, was completely twisted and deformed by the uncontrolled Molten Fire Explosion.

…It was ruined.

I shouldn’t have brought it…

Anger.

A rage fiercer than the threat to his life when he was captured filled Leon’s brain.

His black hair danced wildly without wind due to the frenzied Magic Power, his dark pupils contracted slightly, mixing regret and remorse with unspeakable fury.

He let go, and the damaged Winged Helmet fell from his hand.

However, before the heavy helmet could touch the ground, the furious knight, like an arrow released from its bowstring, wrapped in a gale and lunged forward—

Omlos!

Elevate me!

Leon turned sideways, clasping the hilt of the sword, as the boiling and vigorous Magic Power caused a scorching light to instantly crawl over the long sword.

The whooshing Magic Wind gathered, circles of red whirlwinds enveloped the blade, Magic Flame burned fiercely, turning the steel sword into a glaringly bright branding iron.

The nearly melting Molten Flame Sword, with heatwaves that merely grazed the air, scorched vegetation to ashes from afar.

Met’s avatar, seeing his right hand scorched black by the explosion, with flesh hastily unable to shed and heal, then gripped with his left hand and slammed a giant fist toward the approaching black-haired knight again.

“Die!!”

The half-human, half-snake giant roared loudly.

Leon swung the blazing long sword over his head in rage, the uncontrollable Magic Technique throwing out a circle of incandescent fiery whips.

The light cleaved through Met’s avatar’s fist.

The high temperature, like melting snow, cut through the descending flesh and left a divided charred surface behind.

Charging through the gap that had been split in two, Leon, with great force, spun his waist and executed a Horizontal Slash across the sizable serpent belly.

Ssshh—!

The Magic Flame-reddened blade cut open the snake’s underbelly; the blood evaporated before it could flow out, and the vast gash nearly prevented the serpent’s body from maintaining its upright position.

Leon could no longer sustain the crumbling Magic Technique and stepped back; the Flame Blade in his hand had already dissipated, and the once sharp sword became a twisted, charred piece of scrap iron.

Just as the half-human, half-snake giant suffered a severe blow, several sounds of huge strings whizzing suddenly came from afar.

——Thump!…

Thump!

Thump!

Several massive barbed Crossbow Arrows, dragging long iron chains, penetrated the giant half-snake body.

One through the waist, one through the chest, one through the neck.

As flesh burst apart, the giant serpent’s body rocked violently.

“One, two!…Pull!” soldiers yelled orders from a distance.

The arrow’s barbed tips had spread upon impact, and they were now being cranked backward by windlasses fixed to stakes in the ground, retracting and lodging into the serpent monster’s flesh, pulling it backward.

Met’s avatar, struggling against the pull of several iron chains but without the ability to free himself due to the Magic Flame that disabled his hands, was unable to unlock the barbs on his body.

Canis planted his sword into the ground, grabbed the chains with his arms, and, together with nearby knights and soldiers, pulled with all their might.

The struggling serpent’s body was forcibly leaned down; several knights rushed forward and slashed with their blades along the huge gash opened by Leon, trying to completely dismember it.

The creature roared in indignation, struggling against the constraints of the iron chains.

Leon, gathering his strength for a sprint, leaped forward and ascended the tilted half-body of the serpent monster.

His steps on the serpent body, along with the momentum of the rush, continued unceasingly; with a burst, he ran toward the half-human part of the giant, using the crossbow arrowheads piercing the serpent body as leverage to climb and rush up to the colossal face of Met’s avatar.

The snaky locks attacked him darkly and densely.

Leon raised the charred lump of iron in his hand and shattered them one by one, sighing at the sight of the Magician before him.

“…Idiot, if a world ruled by Mages is as good as you think, then where are they all now?”

He approached and with force thrust the twisted sword into the giant purple pupil; Leon once again focused on conjuring the Molten Flame Technique.

Dense orange Demon Runes swiftly covered the entire head of the giant face before him.

Feeling the Magic Power reach its critical point, Leon discarded the spare Sword that had become useless, flipped back, and leaped off the giant’s body.

Amid a thunderous explosion.

The serpent monster’s head burst into countless fragments.
