Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 298 - 298 148 Vengeance Must Be Requited_2
298: Chapter 148 Vengeance Must Be Requited_2 298: Chapter 148 Vengeance Must Be Requited_2 Knights hurled their spears with astonishing force, which, to their surprise, penetrated the currently weakened defense.
——*thwack!*
Another spiral spear flew and embedded itself halfway into the barrier, directly piercing through the gap in Met’s armor around his knee, as if dragging through the lagging, concave air.
Damn it!
For the first time in decades, Met felt the long-forgotten pain of a physical injury.
Grimacing from the pain, his concentration faltered, making it even more difficult to maintain the barrier, hovering, and the advanced magic technique he was casting.
In a split second, he made a decision, abandoning one of the three spells, the hovering tornado.
“That wizard’s life is mine!” Canis roared as he watched Met fall, charging at him alongside the Wolf Family Knights.
Collapsing the magic barrier and kneeling on the ground, Met groaned in pain as he pulled the spear blade from his leg and flung it aside, then hurriedly gathered magic power to seal the wound on his leg.
Before he could rise, Met saw the weapons of the surrounding soldiers and knights coming at him and decided to lie back on the ground in a shabby manner.
Holding his staff horizontally, he placed the defensive magic in front of himself like a lid.
Weapon after weapon slammed down, but the warriors encountered the same embarrassment as Leon had; their long swords and spears seemed to be stabbing an iron wall, unable to make any headway.

“…Shock Burst!”
Met shouted the spell and unleashed a series of continuous magic shocks, sending the Kingdom Soldiers surrounding him flying.
Grasping the opportunity to catch his breath, Met, the Warlock Master, pressed his left hand to the ground, and a thin snake wound around his arm, slipped out of his sleeve and burrowed into the ground.
“To your death!!” Canis, in his Wolf Pattern Armor, charged through the magic shock burst, lunging with his long sword at Met’s magic barrier.
Crack—
The defense magic that had withstood so many hits from the knights finally showed cracks like shattered glass.
Met, holding his magic wand aloft to sustain the spell, slightly furrowed his brow.
He had channeled most of his magic power into the advanced spell that was nearly complete; the energy in the wand supporting the barrier wouldn’t last much longer.
Crack!
The Wolf Family Young Master delivered another relentless furious slash, deepening the already mending cracks on the barrier.
“What the hell are you?
You’re dead, you can’t possibly be alive.” Met, gazing at the rage-filled figure before him, shouted in bewilderment.
The sight in front of him was neither an illusion nor undead.
Could it be that Canis had a long-lost twin brother?
“I’m a vengeful spirit here to claim your life!” Canis bellowed, thrusting his long sword towards the crack.
This strike became the final straw breaking the barrier.
With a grating sound, the long sword pierced through the barrier.
But at that moment, the ground beneath the Wolf Family Young Master suddenly collapsed.
As the ground fissured and caved in, the soil and rocks around the knights who had approached crumbled, forcing them to retreat from the unexpected subsidence.
The magic technique finally took shape, and an overjoyed Met, with a fierce smile, did not struggle and let himself fall into the pit.
“I’ve banished countless amounts of undead; a vengeful spirit?
Then I’ll just kill it again!”
Suddenly, the earth on either side of the pit exploded, revealing the enormous fangs of a giant snake monster as it opened its gaping maw, preparing to swallow both Met and Canis in a single gulp.
The Wolf Family Young Master, caught off guard in his fall, desperately raised his sword, arched his body, and braced against the putrid gust of wind.
The colossal snake jaws snapped ferociously shut, and Canis, with his sword thrust into the monster’s upper jaw, buckled under the terrifying force, clenching his jaw to resist the closing fangs.
Amidst a thunderous noise, the gigantic snake’s body, thick enough to be wrapped by several men, burst from the ground, sending the surrounding knights flying.
As the dust settled on the rising, stout snake, the beast hoisted Met and Canis in its mouth, raising its body high.
The Wolf Family Knights who had regained their footing looked up to see Canis struggling in the monster’s mouth and exclaimed in shock, “What kind of demon is this?”
“Kill that monster!” Baron Gunnar shouted, quickly unsheathing his sword and ordering the soldiers around him upon seeing his eldest son in danger.
Fortunately, the sudden appearance of the creature didn’t cause the elite soldiers to panic; their longbows and powerful crossbows immediately unleashed a volley of arrows.
With a thwack, the arrows penetrated the snake’s scales, spattering bright blood.
Despite the frightening size of the snake demon, its resilience wasn’t as robust as the magic barrier.
Even so, as the snake withstood the assault of arrows and sword cuts, battered and bleeding profusely, the soldiers could not find its vulnerable spot to deliver a fatal blow, and were instead repelled by its pained writhing.
“What is this now?” Trosa, withdrawing to the periphery, wondered with dissatisfaction and turned to interrogate the magician advisor.
“Forgive me; I do not know, General.
I have never seen the monster that Met has summoned,” Hilgard responded with a furrowed brow, admittedly not well-versed in summoning magic.
“Are you not going to act then, Master?” Trosa urged loudly.
Hearing the Earl’s challenge from behind, Hilgard knew he could no longer shirk his responsibility and silently acquiesced.
Met, this is as far as I can assist you…
…
“Dead people should stay where the dead belong!”
Balancing on the precarious mouth of the giant snake, Met suddenly thrust his spear towards Canis’s face.
The Wolf Family Young Master narrowly sidestepped it, the grazing blade leaving a gash oozing blood across his face.
Met quickly pivoted the handle, attempting to change tactics and slit his opponent’s throat, but with a loud crack, the spear blade was unexpectedly blocked by the steel neck guard.
To his astonishment, he saw a flash of white light around Canis’s head, and then a wolf-headed helmet appeared out of thin air, fitting perfectly and protecting his head seamlessly.
