Chapter 289 - 289 144 Sword and Magic_3

289: Chapter 144 Sword and Magic_3 289: Chapter 144 Sword and Magic_3 The girl also wanted to see what the combat magic described in the magic book looked like.

She had seen Dawson’s necklace and had also seen Kovis’s Object Manipulation Technique.

But the former amplified the human body’s power, so the effects of the spell weren’t so apparent, whereas the latter’s Object Manipulation Technique couldn’t even be considered an Attack Magic; Kovis was now starting from scratch to learn real lethal Spells.

“Fine, then stand back a bit, I’m afraid I might not control the elemental reaction and accidentally injure you,” Leon nodded, cautioning her.

Of course, he was also worried about the Disturbing Magic Field emanating from Olivia’s body, which might interfere with his still immature magical power.

Once she had stepped back a few more paces, Leon took hold of the broken blade with both hands.

He focused his mind to gather Magic Elements, slowly releasing them from within his body, transforming the energy of life into Natural Magic.

(Ancient Lorelette Language)

“…Omlos…restless, leap, coalesce, ascend for my sake…”

Leon silently recited the Ancient Spell, aiding himself to drive his spirit to control the Magic, interfering with the movement of natural elements with several precise magic structures.

Even though it was just a small magic technique for an apprentice to learn, he wasn’t practiced at it; in his mind’s eye, accurately controlling the invisible energy was extremely difficult.

It felt as though he were blindfolded, using a pair of scissors to hold a pen and drawing out detailed pictures on paper with different colors.

On the half of the broken sword left, streaks of Demon Runes glowing with a faint orange light extended from Leon’s hand.

That orange, flame-like hazy Demon Rune trajectory slowly crawled over the hilt, making its way towards the blade.

But not only was the process slow, it would occasionally halt unexpectedly, regressing and dissipating due to unstable errors.

And that wasn’t the worst of it; when that laborious Magical Rune that covered the object, presented itself in an advancing and retreating display, if it ever extended too quickly…

Boom~

On the heated Demon Rune path, a small flame suddenly burst into fire.

Leon couldn’t help but pull back a bit to avoid setting his hair on fire.

But then, a chain reaction caused by the out-of-control Magic Technique, made the Demon Runes explode into Magic Flame at every turn and curve with loud bangs.

The intense heat seeped into the steel of the blade, and the orange-glowing cracked lines quickly crawled over the broken sword.

Knowing the attempt was irrevocable, Leon reluctantly released the maintained spell, only to see the Demon Runes covering the object in his hand fade away in an instant.

“Did it work?” Olivia curiously asked from the side.

“No, it failed.

Am I that much of a genius?

I’ve been so busy these past half a month that I haven’t practiced much,” Leon shook his head.

He went to the riverbank, squatted down, and plunged the red-hot broken sword into the river water, hissing as it cooled down.

Then he continued to repeat the exercise he had just performed.

This was one of the Spells he had learned under Lola’s guidance during his previous visit to the Mage Tower when he had successfully summoned Galron.

After showing off his unintentionally realized Magic Shock, Lola had taught him two uses of magical power that weren’t too difficult for him at the time.

One was the air current and pressure manipulation technique, very similar to Magic Shock.

Another was a simple magic technique for creating high temperatures and flames.

The magic of this world wasn’t completely as Leon remembered from his previous life’s games, featuring Spells like Fireball Technique, Ice Arrow Technique, and Chain Lightning as fixed-form game abilities.

Even though there were similar effects of Magic Techniques described in the Magic Guide books, the actual process of casting these Spells still consists of a combination of magic application techniques and guiding.

This also meant that one Magic Technique could be broken down into multiple processes of magical power application.

Just like the high-temperature creation technique he was practicing now, its simplest application was ignition.

Thanks to this, his pouch no longer carried a Fire Scythe.

Of course, mere ignition wasn’t the ultimate goal of these exercises.

Miss Lola had set two apprentice-level Elemental Studies combat spells for him to master.

One was called “Wind Hammer,” a striking Spell.

The other was called “Molten Flame Sword,” a Shaping Magic.
