Chapter 254 - 254 130 A Resounding Victory_2
254: Chapter 130 “A Resounding Victory”_2 254: Chapter 130 “A Resounding Victory”_2 “Once I capture you, your army will crumble without a fight!” Leon steadied himself and declared in a deep voice as he raised his sword.
“Ha!
I can fight with you until dusk, but your stamina is faltering!” Canis could feel that his opponent’s strength had significantly weakened since they had started fighting.
“Don’t worry, it won’t take until dusk to defeat you,” Leon said, listening to the increasingly loud hoofbeats behind him, a smirk forming under his helmet.
Because it won’t be me who defeats you!
Feigning a swing, Leon stepped forward with a false attack.
He knew that the enemy general before him didn’t consider Olivia, who was already charging closer on horseback from behind.
“Leon!!”
The girl called out her lover’s name, warning him to dodge her spear charge.
As Leon’s silhouette suddenly cleared the path, Olivia’s fingers, encased in iron gloves, gripped the spear shaft like hydraulic tongs; the blood-stained spear blade precisely aimed at the wolf-emblazoned plate armor of the knight.
Listening to the delicate and pleasant voice of the petite cavalry from under the helmet, Canis’s expression momentarily turned mocking.
A girl?
Did all the manly men of the Farolis Family die off, letting a young girl step onto the battlefield?
The Wolf Family Young Master gripped his long sword with both hands, slightly turned his body, and tried to deflect the incoming spear tip with a horizontal slash.
Clang—!
Canis’s typically reliable powerful slice only caused the spear shaft to vibrate slightly in an arc.
However, under Olivia’s unwavering grip, the spearhead, still on course, unmistakably penetrated the Wolf Family Young Master’s neck guard.
—Boom!
A metallic clang resounded, and Canis’s body, unable to resist, leaned back from the charge of the warhorse, feeling the continuous pressure of the dented armor on his neck, his face paled significantly.
Dropping his long sword, he desperately grabbed the spear shaft with both hands, trying to slow the impact of the cavalry spear tip, but his entire body was still dragged along, his heels plowing through the ground, and the next moment, like being hit by a speeding vehicle, his body was flung into the air.
Crack!
The sturdy spear shaft, unable to bear the collision of the two knights’ tremendous forces, snapped, and splinters flew in all directions.
The sudden weapon collapse ultimately saved the life of the Wolf Family Young Master.
The heavy armored body crashed back to the ground.
But Canis, with his neck armor dented, hadn’t even managed to get up.
Already following Olivia’s charge, Leon, now holding the sword hilt and weakened blade with both hands, pounced onto the fallen Wolf Family knight with all his body and armor weight.
With a heavy clang, he landed on his enemy, his reversed blade targeting the gap in Canis’s helmet!
Canis, in fright, covered his face with his hands to block.
Creak!
A grating, cringe-worthy sound ensued as the sharp sword tip pressed against the hand armor, layer upon layer of metal indented, yet still unable to penetrate.
“Damn it!!!”
The Wolf Family Young Master howled, immediately gripping the blade’s tip with his right hand and firmly grasping the blade with his left, desperately pushing upwards in a last-ditch effort.
“…I’ll say it once more, you’ve lost!
I won’t repeat the same thing three times!” Leon pressed down with his sword slowly, his gaze fierce, “Don’t make me kill you here, surrender!
Canis!”
As he threatened, a gleaming sword blade, shimmering coldly, dangled before Canis’s eyes.
Olivia, holding a long sword, could now simply drive it into the enemy’s face to end the life of the Gunnar family leader.
But hearing her lover’s threat to the enemy, she didn’t rush to kill him.
She realized their line was about to break, their comrades deeply enveloped, while the enemy force remained strong, with even four divisions of spearmen soon to cross from the north bank.
It seemed that only capturing the enemy general alive could deter the Wolf Domain Army from striking.
“If you kill me, the Wolfenhol army will avenge me, and all of you will die!” Canis scoffed.
“Fine, as you wish!”
Leon, eyes wide, bellowed without hesitation, “Olivia!
Do it!”
“Hold on!!!
Wait!” Seeing the sword gleam nearly touching his eye, the Wolf Family Young Master yelled out in shock.
Was there no consideration for his status?
Himself, the eldest son of a baron, to be killed just like that?
Feeling a palpable sense of dying a meaningless death in a mere village skirmish rather than in some glorious, illustrious battle, Canis, gritting his teeth and trembling with anger in his throat, had no choice but to swallow his pride, “You impudent fool, can’t you say something diplomatic to give me an out?”
“Fine!
I admit it, knights of the Thorny Flower Family, you’ve won…
but remember, this is only temporary!”
…
With a broken spear shaft propped against her helmet adorned with a red plume, Olivia raised the symbol of the captured enemy commander.
Leon, on the other hand, was escorting a Wolf Family knight whose chest armor was removed and whose arms were tied behind him with his own cloak, holding a dagger horizontally against the knight’s throat, and closely followed on horseback.
“The enemy commander has surrendered!
The Wolf Domain has fallen!”
Carrying this victorious proclamation, their warhorses galloped past the elite battleground on the northern shore, past the entangled cavalry, and past the chaotic and crowded battle lines.
“The enemy commander has surrendered!
The Wolf Domain has fallen!” The shout echoed repeatedly across the battlefield until they maneuvered their steeds around the front lines, through their own scattered troops, and reached the top of a high slope.
Leon pushed Canis from behind the neck, displaying the captured enemy commander to all the warriors present.
The soldiers of the Wolf Domain’s central force looked up incredulously at the disheveled and embarrassed Canis, who was captured alive.
Unaware of the enemy, the Longka’s defensive soldiers still burst into cheers, the sound rising wave after wave.
Even the originally collapsing and fleeing young men stopped in their tracks at Olivia’s command, picking up their weapons and regrouping below the slope with boosted morale.
Mr.
Brian Sr., bloodied from the central battle, held back a Selva soldier beside him who wanted to pursue the enemy, knowing there was no longer any need to continue fighting.
Capturing the enemy army’s leader, even if they completely lost Longka at this moment, it was still a victory.
Knight Yom, commanding the forces of the Wolf Domain, furrowed his brow and after a brief moment of contemplation, immediately ordered a retreat without hesitation.
He couldn’t ignore the life safety of his lord’s eldest son and continue fighting; it was pointless.
And now, they had to evacuate the battlefield quickly before the enemy could take advantage of the situation to blackmail him.
He certainly didn’t want to be coerced into becoming a prisoner of war along with the young master.
The sound of retreat horns blew mournfully within the Wolf Domain’s forces…
Wolf Family’s Internal Knights led their horses, with the nearby cavalry retreating slowly, begrudgingly hurling threats at the Thorny Flower knights: “Damn it!
You better not harm a single hair on Lord Canis, or else be ready to face the true wrath of the Wolf Family!”
“Canis?
I’ve heard that name…
the eldest son of Baron Gunnar?
Hahahaha…
I think it’s you lot, the incompetent protectors who should brace for Baron Grey Wolf’s wrath!”
Sir Redo twirled his halberd in hand, laughing mockingly.
The retreating Wolfenhol Soldiers, filled with rage in their eyes, although some fighters, blind with battle rage, did not cease their fight, many more had disengaged from the combat.
The elite soldiers of the Wolf Domain managed to retreat in an orderly fashion, while the scattered conscripted soldiers had already turned and fled without a trace.
Watching the decisively receding enemy lines, like tides falling back, Leon, tugging at the neck of the Wolf Family knight in front of him, said, “Your troops obey you quite well; they care about your safety.
Is your status very important?”
“?” Canis gritted his teeth and glared sideways: “You don’t know who I am?”
Leon raised an eyebrow: “Why should I necessarily know who you are?
Are you famous in Kosos County?”
“…” Canis fell silent, thinking no wonder this knight had been so decisive earlier…
he didn’t realize what consequences there might be for killing him.
His gaze then shifted to the young girl in armor nearby.
For ease of shouting, the girl had already lifted her face guard.
The Wolf Family Young Master scrutinized her young and beautiful face, still unable to believe that he was nearly killed by such a delicate-looking girl.
Even though she was clad in armor, he could tell she was petite, lacking the brawny stature typical of a ‘Female Knight.’
But considering the force of the Riding Spear during their confrontation, if it had been one of his own Knights of Valor, there was a high likelihood he would have been dragged off his horse’s back by his own brute strength.
Yet, in reality, he was lifted by that girl with a single hand along with his armor.
The charge aided by the warhorse certainly played a part, but the reverse force also had to be endured by the rider on the horseback.
Had the quality of that long spear not been average, breaking just in time, his throat might have been crushed into pieces through the dented neck guard.
In terms of sheer strength, this girl far exceeded the average Knight of Valor.
“—And she, who is she?” Canis couldn’t help but ask.
Hearing this, Leon, with a proud gaze, looked toward the armored girl who, raising the wolf-head helmet, stood on her horse and proclaimed their victory on the battlefield.
“She is my lion, the lion of Selva…”
