Chapter 124 - 124 81 Do Not Pry_2
124: Chapter 81 Do Not Pry_2 124: Chapter 81 Do Not Pry_2 Emmon no longer had the upper hand, maintaining the barrier, his magic power was bound to run out eventually, and he knew he couldn’t keep this stalemate going.
If he allowed himself to run dry, he really would capsize in the gutter.
Finding an opportunity with his back to Kovis’s harassment, the mage forcibly endured the bombardment of blast crystals flying towards him.
The black robe on his back was blasted with a ring of holes, Emmon endured the pain, his gaze fixed on the unfamiliar young man in front of him as he finally, with difficulty, drew the Shock Seal that was usually so simple and effortless.
With a fierce shout of the spell, he turned his head and snapped his fingers, blasting Kovis, who was about to sneak attack, far away.
Emmon quickly turned his head back, retreated hurriedly, and barely blocked the guy who nearly bypassed the barrier and reached for the Seal.
Fortunately, the mage, having gained a moment to breathe, finally had the chance to take out his whistle, calling for his Jun Ying.
Just get back in the sky!
Only by creating distance!
Would he then have time to slowly gather his Attack Magic without the use of his hands.
Hearing its master’s call, the low-flying Jun Ying descended following the sound of the whistle.
After hesitating for a moment above the dense canopy, it plunged in.
Stumbling and flapping down in half flight, half fall into the woods, the Jun Ying landed and immediately pecked at the nearest enemy with its beak open.
Leon, not the least bit intimidated, dodged and countered with a hook punch, hammering the creature’s head, sending feathers flying.
The eagle-headed Riding Beast in front of him was fierce but was of a much lesser threat compared to a Griffin.
The pained Jun Ying shook its head, then immediately supported itself on its hind legs, raised its body, and swung its limbs, clawing towards the enemy’s head.
Leon stepped back to dodge the sharp talons.
Emmon had no desire for further futile entanglement; he only sought to escape back to the sky and rally his forces.
Seeing his mount temporarily repelled the enemy, he grabbed the saddle’s handrail with his left hand, braced with his shield in his right, and mounted the Riding Beast, urging it to spread its wings and ascend as quickly as possible.
The Jun Ying’s wings unfurled and flapped furiously, kicking up sand and stones.
Leon, realizing with urgency that his enemy was making an escape, felt a deep sense of alarm.
However, he did not attempt to use Light Arrow Magic to shoot down the Jun Ying carrying the mage.
What good was it to kill the mage’s mount if the only attack he had left wasn’t enough to ensure the death of the dangerous mage himself?
If he allowed Emmon to return to the sky, the hard-won opportunity for a turnaround the two had created would vanish!
Taking three steps in two, Leon avoided the eagle head and talons head-on, and sprinted behind the Jun Ying, already half in the air.
Ignoring the mage who was still pulling at the barrier to guard against him, Leon caught Emmon’s startled look as he turned his head to the side and leapt, reaching out and grabbing the tail of the Jun Ying.
The overloaded weight caused the Jun Ying’s altitude to drop, and the already limited take-off space made flapping its wings even more difficult.
The pained Riding Beast kicked backward in an attempt to fling off the nuisance tugging at its tail.
But the airborne beast, without its forelimbs on the ground as a pivot, couldn’t lift its hooves to hit its target; the two hind legs flailed uselessly downwards.
The Jun Ying gave up struggling and instead flapped its wings, leaping slantwise to latch onto a tree ahead, climbing upwards with its talons, trying to rub the enemy on its tail off onto the branches.
Emmon, continuously hit by the rustling branches, really wanted to use magic to blast the youth clinging to the Jun Ying off.
However, the strap that secured his waist on the saddle had already broken in the previous struggle, and if he didn’t hold on to the handrail in front of him, even he could fall off the leaping Jun Ying.
Leon, with all his strength, clung to the tail of the Jun Ying, and took the opportunity to step on the branches in the canopy to propel himself upward, smashing his fists above.
Emmon, gripping the saddle with one hand and continuing to maintain the barrier with the other, heard the sounds of metal fists pounding on the surface of the shield, blocking the attacks from below.
Suddenly.
Realizing the posture of the enemy hanging from the rear of the Jun Ying, and that both hands couldn’t be used to unleash the powerful Light Arrow Magic.
The mage laughed, “You’re courting death!”
With a sneer, he quickly withdrew his Defensive Magic, freeing his right hand.
He immediately drew the Magic Bullet Technique, ready to face down and kill the youth hanging below.
Leon, seeing the purple barrier in front of the mage disappear and the opponent’s fingers quickly tracing the glowing lines of the Seal in the air, panicked.
In a moment of life or death, his adrenaline surged, and with a loud shout filled with strength, he pulled himself up by the tail, and with his left hand, he reached for the rear of the saddle and climbed up.
Like climbing a rock, Leon then vigorously raised his right hand and grasped Emmon’s right wrist tightly.
…With the two men on its back, the Jun Ying burst out of the canopy; finally, its wings could spread, and it soared sideways into the air.
The sudden change in horizontal posture and Leon’s right arm pulling and disturbing Emmon caused the magic he was struggling to release to veer off its original trajectory.
The scorching Magic Bullet grazed Leon’s shoulder pad, tearing a molten gash in the Chain Armor, trailing flames as it flew into the distance.
“Hah!
You can’t hit me!” Dodging the fatal shot, Leon laughed loudly and pressed forward.
Agitated on the now flying Jun Ying, Emmon loosened his grip on the saddle’s handrail, drew symbols in the air, and tried to cast another spell.
Leon, however, was not going to give him another chance.
He straddled the behind of the Jun Ying, and with his left hand, he circled around Emmon’s shoulder, fiercely grabbing the mage’s left arm.
This time he grabbed the mage’s fingers directly, preventing any further gestures.
Locking both hands, Leon executed a “Strongman’s Grapple”, desperately binding his opponent’s arms in front of him.
Since he couldn’t use the Seal of “Isa’s Arrow” in such close-quarters combat, nor would he let the other draw any Seal.
