Chapter 111 - 111 76 Conspiracy to Assassinate

111: Chapter 76 Conspiracy to Assassinate 111: Chapter 76 Conspiracy to Assassinate Poisoning was the first ineffective plan that Kovis had persuaded them to abandon.

Not to mention that Leon and his companions couldn’t obtain a poison that could kill someone quickly.

Even if they could, it wouldn’t be very effective, since Kovis himself had been taught various detoxification techniques, and Pilireno would undoubtedly be proficient in them as well.

“If I could instantly destroy his head, are you sure he doesn’t have any other strange ways to save his life?” Abandoning impractical tricks, Leon asked in a deep voice.

“Also, are you sure that Pilireno will truly lower his defenses when he is thinking about that matter?

Is his physical body robust?

I’ve seen an enemy whose bare skin was enhanced with magic.”

Everyone’s lives were at stake, and their enemy was the mysterious Pope; he had to be cautious.

Who knew if those Mages would truly die after losing their heads?

Miss Lora didn’t even have a physical body anymore, yet she still hopped around lively in her mind.

Kovis looked at Leon, “What do you want to do?

Just a reminder, if you’re thinking of using something like a War Hammer or other blunt weapons, save your breath.

Even if you get a chance to get close, his speed in recovering his defensive magic will definitely be faster than your weapon swinging…

You don’t look like someone with extraordinary martial skills.”

“I have an attack spell that I can cast, powerful enough to penetrate a Knight’s plate armor, but I can’t show it to you to prove it…

because it can only be released once in a short period.” Being this open with each other, Leon wasn’t afraid to reveal more.

“Really?” The blonde youth squinted, surprised by the claim since the other had previously denied being able to disrupt the Guarding Technique but now claimed he could cast spells.

Kovis pondered for a while, then assured, “From my observations over the years, Pilireno’s physical body is not much stronger than an ordinary person when he drops his guard.

He did not learn from the kind that modifies their bodies.

If you really can smash his head in an instant…

it might be worth a try.”

“The problem is, even if the power is sufficient, how far is the range of your spell?

How accurate is it?

How fast can it be cast?

You won’t have a chance to get as close to him as I can when he lowers his defense, after all…

your appearance…

Pilireno is not interested in that,” Kovis inquired, resting his chin in his hand and seeming to really consider the possibility of success.

“I can assure you the accuracy, but I’m not sure about the exact range.

Speaking of which, don’t you know any attack spells?” Leon wondered.

The other had previously shown off an Invisibility spell, which didn’t appear to match his outwardly frail appearance.

“Regrettably, I don’t…

Pilireno only taught me magic tricks to assist him; protection, healing, de-curse, purification, and the like, I know some, but he forbade me from learning anything about combat magic,” Kovis shook his head.

As he spoke, his left hand emerged from his cloak, and he turned his head towards a vase on a nearby table, elegantly tracing patterns with his fingertips while muttering softly.

The young man’s fingers traced a few streaks of light, forming a small Dharma Seal.

With a bang, the air vibrated.

In Leon and the others’ eyes, the vase was suddenly knocked into the air.

But just before it hit the wall, it stopped mid-air.

Kovis pulled back his hand.

The floating vase swiftly flew back in front of the blonde youth.

He raised his palm, softly muttering unintelligible words, then the Flowing Light Seal in his palm immediately dissipated.

The vase then freely fell from mid-air, caught securely by the youth’s hand.

“In a real fight, all I can use are these little tricks to enhance my strength, and I can throw random things.

I also know some swordsmanship, but ordinary martial arts pose no more threat to Pilireno than juggling tricks,” Kovis put the vase back on the table, looking helplessly at Leon.

“My greatest assistance would only be using this body to make him lower his guard to create an opportunity for you to execute your attack.”

“That’s enough.”

Leon nodded, reminding himself and his companions of the useful information they had received; the other had done all he could.

He then began asking the blonde youth in detail about the structure of the entire embassy, looking for the right place to strike.

Kovis quickly started fiddling with the wine glasses and vases on the table, explaining the structural layout of the courtyard buildings and the Guarding Technique still operating in the yard.

After much discussion, eliminating plans with too much uncertainty, in the end, the only truly feasible and possible assassination plan they could agree on was…

to release Isa’s Arrow from inside the building, through the bedroom door, to blast Pilireno’s head near point-blank.

Only when Pilireno was thoroughly relaxed in his bedroom would he truly lower part of his guard.

Since it was impossible to attempt a sniper kill from outside without triggering the courtyard’s alarms, the only sniper position Leon could choose was from a small area where the structure of the magic had been destroyed by someone.

However, Pilireno’s room had no windows facing that direction.

Leon didn’t have X-ray vision to blindly shoot through the thick walls of the stone fortress.

And even if there were windows, he couldn’t guarantee that he could snipe like a marksman, accurately shooting Isa’s Arrow through the window to hit the target’s head.

If Pilireno perceived a threat to his life, Leon and his companions would have to face the wrath of an Official Position Mage head-on.
