Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord -
Chapter 32: His Sweet Tongue
Chapter 32: His Sweet Tongue
"Cutting your radial artery is dangerous, you foolish lady. If you were a simple human, you could have died in just a matter of minutes," Alec said, checking the wound in Lauren’s wrist.
"I didn’t cut it completely. I haven’t gone insane."
From a third person’s point of view, it was a rare sight to have the warlord taking care of someone else. Even Lauren was taken aback by Alec’s treatment. But at the back of her mind, she knew he was only doing it because aside from being quite useful and entertaining, for him she was a delightful meal he wanted to consume little by little.
Without a warning, Alec brought her wrist to his lips and traced the wound with his hot tongue, leaving no room for a drop of blood to go to waste. Lauren, who didn’t allow any man to do such an act before, felt the heat rise to her cheeks with the way his provocative tongue was licking her skin as if her blood was his salvation.
"Stop."
Alec paused and smirked wickedly as he licked his lips which had turned redder now.
"Why, Your Highness? Do you feel bothered?"
Lauren knew that the man was aware of how it was affecting her and he was enjoying it.
Keeping a straight face, she said, "I gave a glass full of my blood to your cousin. You can’t drink from me right now unless you want me dead."
"I know. You see, I didn’t even bite you. I’m just cleaning your wound before we put medicine on it."
Cleaning her wound by licking it? He sure was a crazy vampire.
"Deep wounds like this can’t be healed by a simple healing spell and may take days to heal using medicines made by healer mages. I wonder how my dumb cousin convinced you into pouring your blood for her..." Alec’s suspicious tone suggested that there was more to what happened. He didn’t believe Lauren would just give what his cousin asked, especially not after the vampiress badmouthed her in front of her face.
"She is a vampiress and I’m a lower mage. Do you think I have the power to go against her word?" said Lauren.
Tracing the blood that oozed out of the wound with his tongue again, he stopped to let out a bark of laughter.
"Since we are partners, you should drop the act now, Lauren. I know you are more capable than how you look."
This brought a frown to Lauren’s face. "I don’t know what you mean."
Alec stood and went to a drawer in the corner. After getting a specific bottle of powder, he kneeled back in front of Lauren and poured a certain amount into her wound.
While making sure he had put medicine in every part of the wound, he spoke,
"The day Lord Merriweather was found dead, someone went to assassinate you. I saw the arrow the moment it was shot and I could have easily done something to block it, but I didn’t because I noticed how you were just there standing indifferently even when you noticed the arrow approaching. There was no hint of fear on your face. It was like you were confident it wouldn’t kill you."
The lord was sharper than she thought, Lauren realized.
"You have quite an imaginative mind, milord. But you are right, I know it wouldn’t kill me. My mother may be a lower mage, but people often forget that I’m still part of Evardin’s royal family, a bloodline of Arch mages. Through years of practice, I managed to learn a few spells to protect myself. I believe it is a must when you want to survive in such a cruel world."
After tending to Lauren’s wound, Alec stood and asked, "Why did you let Samantha order you around then? I don’t believe you gave in to her whim just like that after how she insulted you."
"Are you afraid that I’m plotting something against your cousin?"
"I wouldn’t be surprised."
With Alec’s indifference, Lauren wondered if he truly didn’t care if she did so, or if he wouldn’t tolerate it because after all the vampiress was still his relative. He also seemed to be on good terms with his uncle.
"Will you mind if I kill her?" Lauren’s face had no hint of playfulness when she asked that. She looked serious.
Again, Alec was mystified by the mystery presented in front of him. He stared at her deeply, wondering what were the thoughts behind her empty blue eyes. He thought it was ironic how she could still look like an angel even when she was talking about killing someone.
"Do you want to?" He asked.
The corners of Lauren’s lips tugged up. She shook her head once before she stood.
"Thank you for lending me a hand with my wound even though it wasn’t necessary. Don’t worry, I was only jesting. The world won’t be fun without foolish people like your cousin. It would be a waste to put her six feet belowground."
Meanwhile, in the town of Evardin where only the members of high society could afford to step on, the carriage Samantha was riding stopped in front of a famous establishment.
The footman opened the carriage’s door and offered the lady a hand but she didn’t bother to take it. The people entering the establishment glanced at the vampiress. Noticing how she came out of the carriage that bore the Everston family crest, everyone was quick to conclude that she must be Alec’s relative from Acheron who usually visited the lord once or twice a year.
Making her way inside the establishment gracefully, an arrogant smile was plastered on her face when some gentlemen greeted her with obvious admiration on their faces.
However, her smile vanished when the next second she felt a striking pain in her abdomen.
Samantha had no idea what was happening to her. Vampires had better pain tolerance and it wasn’t usual for them to suddenly suffer such pain.
Noticing the lady’s twisted face, a gentleman went to ask her if she was alright. But when Samantha opened her mouth, she felt an excruciating pain inside her stomach as if her insides were being clenched. Her knees weakened and the next thing she knew, she was kneeling on the floor and vomiting the blood she just consumed a while ago.
