Chapter 988 - 988 123 The Great Victory of Hankros_3
988: Chapter 123, The Great Victory of Hankros_3 988: Chapter 123, The Great Victory of Hankros_3 These fellows who had been severely beaten all had defeatism in their heads, and once they returned, they could only drag their feet.
Even if by some stroke of luck they survived the continental war, these minor races would still face retribution in the future.
It just wouldn’t be Hudson carrying out the reckoning, but rather the future masters of this land.
Whether the East-West Warhammer Kingdoms were restored, or usurped by the Major Nobles of the central and southern regions, it was unrelated to Hudson.
The nations of the continent would never allow the Alpha Kingdom to expand its influence here, nor did the kingdom have any intention of pushing westward.
Even if they were victorious in the war, the kingdom’s guns would only turn north.
Seeking revenge against the Orcs was a secondary concern; what was most crucial was that the kingdom needed a stable rear base.
The bitterness of fighting on two fronts was something no one wished to experience a second time after tasting it once.
The cries of battle continued, but the fight gradually drew to an end.
The moon’s pristine light fell upon the land, casting cycles of blood moons, followed by countless Undead creatures emerging from the ground.
In an instant, Hudson realized something was amiss.
This was no mere camp; it was clearly a “gate” to hell.
“Belsden, Maxim, quickly destroy the altar!”
Hudson urged without hesitation.
Without any delay, a dragon and a bear immediately assaulted the altar where energies converged.
Numerous Human Race Strongmen also made their moves on the battlefield.
The Different Races’ Sacrifice Shaman guarding the altar burst into a series of eerie laughter, then a massive explosion ensued, tearing the altar apart.
The power of the explosion, akin to a forbidden spell, swept out in all directions, causing the Strongmen to hastily block it.
Watching the dust flying in the sky, Hudson couldn’t help but exclaim, “That’s ruthless enough!”
He never anticipated that the enemy would set up a hidden altar within the camp, using the souls of the dead from both sides as offerings to summon Undead creatures.
Had the enemy’s plan succeeded, the Expeditionary Army would have suffered heavy losses, clearly a tactic that would lead to mutual destruction.
Unfortunately for the enemy, though their plan was sound, they didn’t account for the inadequacy of their own forces, failing even to buy time.
The altar had not gathered sufficient energy before the Northern Continent Allied Forces attacked, forcing them to initiate their plan prematurely.
With insufficient energy, the summoned Undead creatures lacked strength and could not inflict catastrophic damage on the Expeditionary Army, so they simply detonated the altar.
In that recent blast, at least hundreds of soldiers died, with thousands more injured.
If the enemy’s plan had come to fruition, Hudson’s record of total victory would have ended.
The sudden catastrophe created an opportunity for the enemy forces to flee.
But Hudson had no time to concern himself with these matters; his mind was occupied with pondering who had laid this trap.
The Ancient Heritage Alliance seemed somewhat off.
Given so many Species within, such a decision could not have been made quickly.
Looking at the state of the altar, the enemy’s preparations appeared hasty; had they prepared some sacrifices in advance to shorten the energy gathering time, the effect might have been better.
The Elf Race was a likely possibility.
With their profound heritage, they could entirely possess a ritual of mutual destruction.
Furthermore, given their special status in the Alliance, claiming to be setting up a Magic Formation while laying the altar in secret, it seemed possible to deceive the less experienced Kings of the various races.
Or perhaps it was the doing of some Specific Species within the Ancient Heritage Alliance.
Indeed, those overseeing the sacrificial rituals were all from the Ancient tribes.
Without the participation of their supporting Species, finding a group of dead warriors to perform the ritual would not have been easy.
Or maybe it was the Elf Race colluding with some of the Ancient tribes, planning this operation together.
Facing a maze of confusion, Hudson had no desire to investigate further.
Sometimes being too earnest was not a good thing.
…
Thousands of miles away, negotiations between the Elf Race and the Alpha Kingdom also reached their conclusion.
After a series of bargaining, a preliminary agreement was reached, awaiting only the signatures of the higher-ups from both parties for the non-aggression treaty to officially take effect.
Suddenly, an elf burst into the venue, heading for the delegation…
