Chapter 983 - 983 122 Turning Point

983: Chapter 122, Turning Point 983: Chapter 122, Turning Point “Boom, boom, boom…”

“The city has fallen, kill!”

With a loud explosion, the trembling city walls collapsed.

It was not just the walls that fell, but also the spirits of the Half-Orcs who had been stubbornly resisting.

“Quick, block it!”

“Trash, no retreating!”

The Half-Orc Commander was shouting forcefully, even going as far to draw his sword and kill two fleeing soldiers.

However, once defeat set in, it was beyond human power to reverse it.

In an instant, Frank Soldiers had stormed in, swiftly capturing the city walls.

Realizing the tide had turned, the Half-Orc King had no choice but to abandon the Royal City and strategize a retreat.

“The enemy’s assault is too fierce, Your Majesty, you should go first!

We’ll cover the rear, otherwise, no one can escape.”

The Half-Orc Guard Leader spoke calmly, as though it was all a matter of course.

The usually distraught concubines, at this moment, bid farewell to the Half-Orc King one by one, voluntarily joining the rear-guard.

No one knew how much they could help, but gathering together, they invariably couldn’t escape the enemy’s pursuit.

Adversity reveals true character; although the contemporary Half-Orc King was not considered an exceptional ruler, he was still qualified as a monarch.

If he were in Northern Continent, where Human power was weaker, perhaps he could achieve something notable.

Unfortunately, his luck was terrible, having The First Kingdom of the Continent as a neighbor.

The disparity in strength was not something that could merely be compensated for by effort, no matter how hard they tried, especially as the Frank Kingdom was on the rise.

Taking a last poignant look at his people, the Half-Orc King mounted a Magical Beast and, protected by a dozen elites, broke away from the main forces.

Lutesya Palace.

“Your Majesty, news from the frontline: our forces have breached the Half-Orc Palace, and are currently purging the remnants.

Sadly, the city was too chaotic; we couldn’t capture the Half-Orc King.

However, General Barksi has dispatched men to pursue him; I believe we will receive good news soon,” Prime Minister Duke Bergson cheerfully stated.

The Half-Orcs, being a civilization with limited advancement, had a total of a few cities, which concentrated the entire nation’s industry and commerce, with the rest being rural tribes.

The Royal City was the last city under the control of the Half-Orc Kingdom; taking this place essentially hurled Half-Orc civilization back to the tribal era.

Having struck at the roots of the Half-Orcs and decimated their main forces, the outcome of the subsequent war held no suspense.

“Well-done, instruct the Military Department to draft commendation documents and confirm the military achievements as soon as possible.

Tell the frontline commanders to complete the cleansing quickly; the Half-Orc population is still too large!”

Charles III delivered the most ruthless command in the calmest tone.

Such things by now had ceased to be shocking.

As an inevitable part of continental warfare, the only difference this time was the larger scale of cleansing.

Gazing at the ominous military camp, the Forest Elf Queen frowned; this was not the life the elves wanted.

But there was no choice; as one of the few races in the Alien Coalition still capable of mounting an offensive, the Elf Race played the role of savior within the coalition.

Although the coalition was defeated, the Elf Race had the capability to exist independently, but that was entirely reliant on internal conflicts escalating among humans.

Should the Human Race unexpectedly unify one day—or even just the Northern Continent—it could spell disaster for them.

Balancing strategies were perilous, especially for a smaller race playing balance among larger ones.

This suboptimal plan was something no one would choose if there were any other option, hoping that the Human Race would continue their internal strife.

“Big sister, it’s quite unfortunate for the coalition!

The Half-Orc Kingdom fell too quickly; we didn’t even have enough time to complete the campaign in Northern Continent.

Had we known, we should have deployed our forces earlier,” the Prairie Elf Queen said with regret.

It was the havoc wrought by experientialism; the longer-lived the species, the more conservative they became, relying on “coasting” through continental wars to gain an edge, resulting in Elves typically adopting a wait-and-see approach at the onset.

But even the best strategies can become obsolete.

After experiencing continental wars, the Human Race grew stronger with each battle, while the Alien Coalition weakened progressively.

As disparity grew, eventually, the balance broke.

The “coasting” strategy failed, forcing the Elves to take up arms and head to war.

“Arguing about this now is pointless; no one could have predicted the rapid rise in strength of the Frank people.

They collapsed before we could even put forth our full effort.

Even if we had deployed earlier, it wouldn’t have reached the war in the South Continent.

Now with the collapse of the Half-Orc Kingdom, the pressure on everyone in the coalition increases.

With the Franks freed up, it’s uncertain where they might strike next,” the Forest Elf Queen said with deep concern.

With the strength of the Frank Kingdom, joining any battlefield could change the outcome of the war.

Already, the Alien Coalition was struggling, and now with this new unpredictable factor, the burden on its leaders had only increased.

“Not just pressure—I think they’re going mad!

To get us to mobilize faster, these folks suggested in their letters that we negotiate peace with the Kingdom of Elf.

They provided a whole list of reasons, acting as if not compromising with the Alpha People meant we were ignoring the greater good,” the Night Elf Queen complained.

Due to their geographical positioning, the Elf Race had always held a favorable position within the coalition, often being the last to be urged into battle.
