Chapter 997 - 997 984 Born in the Wrong Era

Chapter 997: Chapter 984: Born in the Wrong Era Chapter 997: Chapter 984: Born in the Wrong Era “Young master, someone has sent you a letter.”

“What does it say?” Muria asked nonchalantly, soaking in the medicinal bath.

“Let me see!” The young female servant, whose body had begun to develop curves, took the envelope and started to read it out loud, word by word. Yet, as she read on, an irritated expression crossed her face, her little eyebrows knitting tightly together.

“Young master, this is a challenge letter, someone wants to duel you.”

“I heard.” Muria rubbed his temples, feeling somewhat exasperated. He had always been concerned about his little female servant’s intelligence.

“So, young master, you will…”

“Of course, I will accept the challenge. How could I evade such a matter?” The male servant, who had been following the recipe and scattering herbs into the pool, answered matter-of-factly.

“But,” the young female servant hesitated, “Lady Susanna said that you should be forbearing with matters in the Capital, didn’t she?”

“Forbearance also depends on the circumstances. Now someone has actively challenged the young master. If we back down from something like this, the young master will be seen as a coward, and then he will not be able to hold his head high in this manor.”

“Alright, help me draft a reply.” Muria gestured dismissively from the water.

“What should it say?”

“Anything will do, as long as it’s accepting the challenge.”

“I am Haiying Douglas! I heard that Jelos, you are the number one talent in Kuyab Province, having overshadowed all the students in your junior high, including a genius with an affinity over 75%. So, after hearing that you moved into the manor, I’ve been itching for a fight to measure your strength.”

In the spacious arena, a handsome young man looked at the black-haired youth who was slowly walking in, smiling before introducing himself and stating the reason for the challenge.

“Since you’ve challenged me, there’s no need for me to introduce myself. You must already know plenty about me,” Muria yawned widely, his posture somewhat languid,

“Besides, you got one thing wrong. I’m not the number one talent of Yakub Province. My Star talent is just enough not to shame Yakub Province. I’m just the best fighter among Yakub’s younger generation.”

“Isn’t the pursuit of a Star Armor Master meant for battle?” Haiying laughed upon hearing Muria’s reply, “If you can overpower all the students of your province, then you are the number one talent in Yakub Province. I hope you’ll give it your all today, and let me see just how good a fighter you really are.”

“That won’t be necessary. We’re members of the same clan; there’s no need to go all out against you.”

“A battle without going all out is pointless,” Haiying said with a smile, the joy in his face growing, because he took Muria’s words as a sign of cowardice.

“No can do. You’re too weak. I’m afraid if I go all-out, I might accidentally kill you, and then I wouldn’t be able to explain it properly to the rest of the clan.”

Muria sighed softly, the sound clearly reaching Haiying’s ears. His face suddenly stiffened, then reddened, and finally turned purplish.

“I hadn’t realized before that you, Jenos, had a habit of talking big!” The handsome youth grew annoyed, then summoned his Star Armor Equipment with a wave of his hand, “I hope you can still speak so confidently after we’ve fought.”

“Right, after the battle, you’ll realize just how weak you are,” Muria nodded, looking around.

He was now in a circular arena, with a sparse crowd seated in the surrounding stands. The people were few in number, but all of high status, Muria noticed the Paris butler on one of the stands, surrounded by several elderly men dressed similarly to him.

“Jelos, put on your Star Armor and prepare to begin!”

“There’s no need for that right now, let’s just start!”

“Are you planning to fight me with your bare body?” Haiying, who was dressed in white and purple Star Armor, was surprised and also pleased, thinking he was certain to win.

“I am a Martial Artist. Have you not investigated me? Don’t you even know this much information?”

“Since you’re so confident, Jenos, then let’s get started!” Haiying chuckled darkly and then pointed with his hand. Four floating cannons rose behind him, quickly targeting Muria and firing off four light pillars the size of a bowl’s mouth.

Boom!

Four Light Pillars struck Muria’s body almost simultaneously, emitting a massive explosion sound as shockwaves from the energy bursts spread outwards in all directions.

Because this was a special Arena, there wasn’t much dust stirred up by the explosion, and in just an instant, the figure of Muria, the targeted opponent, was revealed to the spectators in the stands.

At this moment, there wasn’t much change in Muria’s posture or appearance compared to before the attack. The only difference was that his figure was now enveloped in a white flame-like Qi, which had blocked all of the previous attacks.

“Is this the Qi flame that a Martial Artist develops after undergoing the first transformation? Indeed, it’s extraordinary; it actually blocked the attack of the Dark Star Floating Cannons!”

Seeing Muria take his attack without relying on Star armor, merely using his own strength, and still coming out unscathed, Haiying couldn’t help but feel shocked in his heart,

“Although it is a profession that has been phased out by time, it is not to be underestimated once cultivated to a certain degree.”

“Hmph, I’ve heard that a Martial Artist’s Qi is limited. Jelos can block my first attack, but what if I attack consecutively ten times, twenty times? Can he still emerge unscathed?”

Thinking this, Haiying couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement. He was under orders from a future big figure to test Muria, and when he received the order, that big figure had hinted that he should be prepared for defeat. Looking at the current situation, though, he didn’t believe he could lose.

“This defensive strength isn’t bad!” On the other hand, Muria, who treated this challenge as an experiment for his Qi flame, ignored the thoughts of his challenger from his own kind and was intently sensing his own condition.

After blocking the wave of attacks, Muria closely sensed his own body. Compared to the total amount of Qi he possessed, it was trivial. Moreover, his body was generating pure Qi every moment, his vitality unflagging, his strength inexhaustible.

Boom! Boom!

Several more beams mixed with solid cannonballs bombarded him, but this time, Muria didn’t just grit his teeth and take the hit. Instead, he avoided the attacks with movements so nimble they were almost unthinkable.

“Haiying, you’ve hit me so many times. I am magnanimous and won’t hold it against you. I’ll return the favor just once! If you can take this one attack from me, then you win this battle,” Muria said.

After nimbly avoiding a few hits to test the strength of his attack, Muria quickly lost interest because this challenger, now only a Fourth Tier Star Armor Master, couldn’t bring him much pressure.

“Arrogant! Without using Star Armor Equipment, you still think you can defeat me in one strike,” fumed Haiying, completely unaware that Muria was treating him like a tool.

“Hmm, I’ll use you to test my newly developed technique then.” Muria had a relaxed smile on his face, and his casual attitude greatly annoyed Haiying, his opponent.

Bending his knees slightly, Qi sinking to the dantian, gathering Qi to his palms, his hands drawing back… Muria performed a very classic pose based on the memory in his mind, and a powerful Qi flowed between his hands, forming a radiant light orb that kept expanding and was immediately compressed by Muria.

Boom!

After gathering energy for barely three seconds, Muria pushed forward with his hands, releasing a colossal orb of light trailing a long beam, shooting forward like a falling meteor. Unlike a normal meteor, however, this one was shooting towards the sky.

“Is this an attack by a Martial Artist? How terrifying!” Haiying, who had been continually attacking Muria in an attempt to stop him but failing, had only this thought in his mind when he saw the light wave rushing toward him.

Every cell in his body was frantically warning him that if he didn’t block this attack, he would die! Instinctively, he pushed all the external Star Armor in his vicinity in front of himself and activated the defenses of his new armor to their maximum.

And just after he did all this, the white light wave immediately engulfed him, then streaked across the sky, dispersing the clouds above.

“The youngsters these days are quite reckless, relying on their Martial Arts cultivation to bully others!”

From a spot in the stands, a deep sigh emerged, startling a group of elderly people dressed in butler’s outfits who had just realized that an additional person had appeared among them unnoticed.

“Lord Long!” Upon discovering the old man who had appeared without their knowledge, all the butlers respectfully lowered their heads.

“It’s a pity, truly a pity!” The hunched old man ignored these butlers, who held a very special status in the Douglas Clan Land, and simply stared at Muria for a while, his face showing a look of regret.

“Your Excellency, what do you regret?” asked the Paris butler, his face showing an unusual amount of respect, cautiously.

“I regret that someone was born in the wrong era. If he had been born five hundred years earlier, with his talent, he would have had a fair chance of ascending to the throne of Martial Emperor!”

The old man’s words left the butlers looking at one another in confusion. Then another butler mustered the courage to speak, “But isn’t it possible now? The resources available for Martial Arts cultivation now are more abundant than five hundred years ago.”

“The era of Martial Artists has passed!”
