Chapter 972 - 972 960 Star Armor Arm Up
Chapter 972: Chapter 960: Star Armor, Arm Up! Chapter 972: Chapter 960: Star Armor, Arm Up! The raindrops as big as beans fell from the sky, creating a dense curtain that made the world outside the window seem somewhat blurred. Muria looked through the dim car window at the surrounding traffic, feeling that something was going to happen today, an intuition akin to a premonition.
And his intuition indeed hadn’t been wrong; a violent explosion came from ahead, and he could feel the vibrations from the ground even while sitting in the car.
Following the explosion, the bridge where the convoy was located first came to a brief halt. Then, exclamations, screams, and roars erupted, followed by a series of explosions and collision noises.
The massive explosion had frightened many drivers, leading to a chain reaction of accidents. This accident caused the convoy he was in to come to a stop.
“Young master, I’ll go down and take a look. You just stay here, don’t move, okay?” The gangster driver, having stopped the car, turned his head to look at the unruffled Muria.
“Okay,” Muria nodded calmly, showing a composure utterly different from his peers.
He wasn’t worried about attracting too much attention since his surname served as the best cover. Being born into a great family, mediocrity was the gravest mistake; being superior to peers was the norm!
Seeing Muria, who showed no sign of panic at all, admiration appeared in the eyes of the suit gangster. His daughter was the same age as the young master, but if she had been in the car, she would probably have been crying by now.
After receiving Muria’s answer, the gangster pulled out a metal block the size of a briefcase from the driver’s seat, carried it in his hand, and closed the driver’s door, heading towards the source of the explosion.
As the gangster moved, the metallic briefcase he held began to disassemble into small and intricate metal components, which then started to climb up his arm.
In no more than five or six seconds, the briefcase in the hands of the suit gangster had completely disappeared, and his body was now fully covered in a set of somewhat flimsy black armor.
“Cheetah V type, portable star armor, civilian star armor geared toward security and exploration!” Seeing his bodyguard display such a cool transformation, Muria wasn’t surprised at all.
As the suit gangster donned his armored star armor, eight sturdy men in suits and leather shoes emerged from the two cars in front and behind Muria, each holding a briefcase, similar to the one the suit gangster has had, and they also completed their armoring in just a few seconds.
Then, out of these eight star armor masters, four came to guard around Muria’s car, while the other four followed the suit gangster’s lead.
Muria watched the scene calmly, then silently touched the pendant hanging on his chest, a crystal pendant shimmering with a purple halo.
It was given to him two years ago when he successfully controlled a thousand “toy” runestones with the Star talent that perfectly matched his practice. It was one of the standard benefits for being an official member of the Douglas family.
“The situation shouldn’t be so bad that I need to take action myself, right? I am still just a child, after all!” Muria held the pendant on his chest and let out a soft sigh.
Soon, roars and the hisses of some monster came from ahead, interspersed with the sound of explosions.
Boom!
The fight didn’t last long before a black shadow streaked across the sky in a parabolic arc, then crashed resoundingly onto the car next to Muria, shattering the entire front windshield and fully embedding the shadow into the vehicle, smashing the inside seats into pieces.
Fortunately, the owner of the car had decisively abandoned it after the explosion, so there were no casualties.
Seeing this, Muria rolled down the window and looked at the shadow in the smashed car, which turned out to be one of the star armor master bodyguards who had gone to investigate the problem with the suit gangster.
“Send two people to support them!” ordered Muria with a frown. He had seen the star armor master struggling in the car for a while without being able to get up, with a white bone spike piercing his abdomen, and it seemed that his vertebrae had been broken.
“But young master, it’s our duty to protect you!” said one of the star armor masters standing by the car, somewhat troubled by Muria’s command.
“If they all get taken out, how can you four make a difference? Hurry up and support them!” Muria reprimanded, his brow furrowed, feeling these guys didn’t grasp the situation.
So, under Muria’s rebuke, the four bodyguards exchanged glances before two of them set off to assist. However, as time passed, the roaring sounds intensified, and the fight seemed to be moving closer to Muria’s location.
Then, the remaining two bodyguards looked at each other, one taking the driver’s seat of Muria’s car and the other taking the driver’s seat of the car behind, while the driver of the latter car started furiously ramming surrounding vehicles.
Bang! Bang!
With the bodyguards using the vehicles recklessly, they soon cleared enough space to escape, and the two cars drove Muria away from the bridge, one ahead of the other.
Their mission was to ensure Muria’s safety, not to eliminate monsters that attacked humans. However, the monster that appeared in this small city this time was not here to attack humans.
Boom!
The rear car turned into the lead car, having been battered and wrecked to clear the way for Muria; it had not left the bridge for long when a crimson flame with a diameter of nearly one meter slammed down, striking the vehicle.
Then, in an instant, the car was engulfed in flames, and the bodyguards inside didn’t even have time to scream before they were dissolved by the flames, and the car’s steel frame melted into molten iron in the fire!
Such a sudden event prompted the bodyguard driving Muria’s car to brake rapidly, stopping in front of the fiery pit.
“I heard there’s a young master from the Douglas family studying in this city! I wonder if it’s true? So I came to check it out, would the child in the car please come out and answer me?”
A somewhat hoarse voice came through, then in the dim sky, a monster wreathed in flames descended slowly, the rain merely turning to steam as it approached its vicinity.
“Young master!” The bodyguard in the car, seeing the monster in the sky, couldn’t help but shudder slightly and turned his head to look at Muria, who had already opened the car door and was preparing to step out.
“Don’t be afraid, it’s coming for me. If you have the chance later, run away!” Muria revealed a gentle smile, this non-human creature in front of him, which he was truly encountering at close range for the first time, had obviously exceeded what a bodyguard could handle. His intervention would only be a waste of life.
After saying that, Muria got out of the car and then looked up at the monster engulfed in flames in the sky, a demonic figure with a humanoid body but with a pair of twisted horns descending from its head, muscles bulging on its body that shimmered with mysterious runes, and a thick tail that swung behind it.
“Child, answer my question, are you a young master from the Douglas family?”
“I am an official member of the Douglas family!” Muria looked up, answering fearlessly.
“An official member, so that means your compatibility with the Star talent exceeded 60%?” The monster surrounded by flames brightened its eyes, “Looks like my luck isn’t bad, to just wander around and stumble upon such good fortune! Killing you should vex the Douglas family for a while!”
As it spoke, the monster raised its palm towards Muria and a spherical fireball began to condense in front of its hand, spreading intense heat. Muria felt the chill brought by the rain on him disappear completely.
“Tsk, child, you’re about to die, why aren’t you scared and crying?”
“This is human territory.” Muria, who had initially clutched his chest, squinted and then chuckled, lowering his hand to reply.
“Hmm!”
“Flame Hell species? You’re seeking death!”
A roar echoed across the city’s sky, and with that roar, eight white and crimson light pillars streaked through the sky and struck the flame-wreathed monster directly.
The monster was immediately flipped over by the barrage, its body spinning in the air as some of its burning blood splattered down.
Hum!
A blue-purple light and shadow streaked across the horizon, breaking the sound barrier with tremendous speed, carving out a visible vacuum channel in the rainy sky, then appeared in front of the monster, which had just steadied itself.
A greatsword was drawn, then gripped in a pair of strong hands, slashing down with a thunderous noise. The greatsword trailed a blue-purple halo as it slashed, landing on the monster’s body.
The agile monster dodged, but a chitin shell extending from its shoulder was severed by the sword.
However, just as the monster had avoided a vital hit, three floating cannons targeted its face, their muzzles lighting up quickly and then firing, directly attacking its face.
Muria, looking up at the sky, realized that the one fighting the monster was a Star Armor Master, but the luxury of her equipment was such that all his bodyguards combined couldn’t compare to it.
The star armor she wore was incredibly thick, with the thinnest part of the armor estimated to be ten centimeters, making her almost as tall as the monster.
However, although her star armor was bulky, it didn’t seem cumbersome; in fact, it was very sleek and agile. For this Star Armor Master, the star armor on her only served as protection and support.
What she truly relied on for combat were the twenty-one different types of floating cannons of five different models that orbited around her, usable for long-, mid-, and short-range combat!
