Chapter 957 - 957 945 True God Mesha
Chapter 957: Chapter 945: True God Mesha Chapter 957: Chapter 945: True God Mesha “Excuse me, sir, may I take a moment of your time?”
On the bustling street, a youthful girl brimming with vibrancy stopped a young man whose face bore the marks of weariness and despondence.
“What is it?” The exhausted young man had intended to refuse, but when he saw the girl who stopped him was such a pretty youth, the words of refusal stopped at the tip of his tongue and remained unspoken.
“I want to tell you about a deity, Mesha, who can bring hope and opportunity to people!”
The vibrant girl smiled at the young man who clearly looked like a lost cause.
“Mesha? What kind of deity is that? I’ve never heard of it before.” The young man searched his memory and found he had no awareness of such an entity.
“This is a True God from the Pandora World! Not a god from our world.” The girl smiled.
“You’re promoting the faith of an alien divine spirit?” The young man looked at the girl in front of him with some surprise.
“What’s the problem with that? This is a True God, why not believe? All those in our world are just made-up false gods!”
“True God?” Hearing the girl’s words, the young man laughed dismissively.
“What’s so funny, don’t you believe? Do you know why I call it a new god? Because if you pray to It devoutly, you will surely get a response! It will change the hardships you’re facing in your life right now!”
“Change my life’s hardships? Then what kind of god is this? Tell me more!”
“This is Mesha, a True God from the Pandora World, who can bring good fortune and break all catastrophes for people!” The girl said as she took out an exquisitely made Mesha statue, no bigger than a fist, from her backpack.
“How much?” Seeing the statue, the young man raised his eyebrows involuntarily, feeling an urge to buy it right away because the statue was so exquisitely crafted, and the figure it represented was indeed very majestic.
“Are you ready to worship Mesha?”
“If I devoutly pray to it and it can solve the life problems I’m having right now! Then, of course, I’ll believe.” The young man replied.
“Well, in that case, this statue is yours for free, and remember to pray devoutly every day.” Hearing the young man’s answer, the girl unhesitatingly shoved the statue into his hands and then turned and walked away.
“Ai!” Watching the girl walk away, and then looking at the fine statue in his hand, the young man laughed with slight disbelief, “What’s this? After a nice chat with a beautiful girl, I get a figurine? Looks like I’m really lucky today!”
After his remark, his mood improved a bit, and he went home, casually placing the Mesha statue at his bedside in his cramped bedroom.
After doing some chores and freshening up, he lay down in his bed to sleep. Before dozing off, he turned his head to look at the statue again, then he couldn’t help picking it up from the bedside to fiddle with it for a while.
“Idol of a True God, if I pray to you, I can get a response? Well then, I’ll pray to you right now, hoping you can let me have a good night’s sleep tonight!”
With a playful mood and a faint hope, the young man’s expression returned to calm, and he began to pray to the Mesha statue. The so-called prayer words and ceremony were all made up on the spot by him, after all, the girl had not asked him to do anything specific, just to pray.
Just ten minutes later, the young man opened his eyes. He felt as if nothing had changed in his body, and he laughed as he put the statue back on the bedside.
“True God Mesha! If you can let me have a restful sleep tonight, then I will worship you day and night from now on!”
After saying this with indescribable thoughts, the young man turned off the light, lay down, and closed his eyes. Because of recent academic struggles and the trouble of entering society, it had been a long time since he had a restful sleep.
But this time, he didn’t toss and turn as before; instead, he fell into a drowsy state, neither fully awake nor fast asleep. He felt his consciousness was still clear.
However, at that moment, his lucid consciousness seemed to “see” a pair of radiant golden pupils, and as soon as his gaze met those golden pupils, his consciousness fell into total unconsciousness. Then, thunderous snoring resounded through the small room…
“When did I fall asleep last night?” In the morning, waking up earlier than his alarm clock, the young man sat on the bed and pondered. He remembered that he seemed to have fallen asleep shortly after closing his eyes last night.
But he distinctly remembered that, right before he closed his eyes, he had seen a pair of radiant golden pupils in his half-awake state. He turned and picked up the Mesha statue from the bedside, scrutinizing it closely until, with some shock, he discovered that the eyes of the statue were golden.
“True God!” After the shock, the youth tightly grasped the statue in his hand, then stared intently at it, “As long as one’s faith is devout, one’s prayers will be answered!”
As a youth bustling about for a livelihood at the bottom of society, he did not care whether Deity was from his own world or a Different World.
He only cared whether Deity could fulfill that one point the girl preached to her yesterday: pray devoutly to Him, and He will respond, resolving his predicament.
If that could be done, then even if Deity was from a Different World, he wouldn’t mind praying devoutly to Him; as long as it solved his troubles, that was enough.
He didn’t care about faith invasion, world competition, Camp Confrontation, or the like—it wasn’t for someone who scurried daily for their meals at society’s bottom to consider. Those matters were for the big figures high above to ponder.
He only cared about his own problems: how to resolve his food and clothing issues, how to tackle employment after graduation, and how to make his future brighter.
In fact, the youth’s attitude was typical of how most mortal beings regarded divine spirits—if you can give me hope, if you can give me visible benefits.
Then I will believe in you, worship you, and if you can grant me a lifetime of peace and wealth, I don’t care if I have to give you my soul after death.
In the Earth Star Civilization facing an energy crisis, too many humans were filled with fear and anxiety about their future. Within such fear, it was all too easy to promote a True God faith that proved His real existence.
…
“Mr. Speaker, Your Excellency, I want to impeach Heya and thirty-five other members for the crime of treachery, accusing these members of betraying and selling out the interest of all Earth Star humans for their own gain!”
In the closed meeting room, a young member stood up, furiously glaring at Heya and the surrounded members.
“Treachery, what kind of charge is that? I’ve been a member for so long and have never heard of such a charge in the Federation’s laws!”
Hearing the young member’s accusation, a middle-aged member immediately laughed, his demeanor utterly relaxed as if he didn’t take the youngster’s charges seriously.
“Because there’s no charge in the Federation’s laws that could describe the crimes you have committed, so I’ve made up this charge!”
“Member Goethe! Since when did you possess legislative rights? How come I was not aware?”
Hearing the young man’s words, another member retorted with a mocking tone.
“Don’t evade my question, you traitors! You have betrayed the benefits of our Earth core civilization to exchange with Evil Gods of the Pandora World for life!”
Member Goethe spoke passionately, growing angrier as he spoke. After finishing, he looked up at the Speaker above,
“Mr. Speaker, Your Excellency, I think it’s entirely inappropriate for these traitors, who have sold out the benefits of our civilization, to sit here. I propose to strip them of their membership, their political rights, and seize all their personal assets.”
“Hmm, Member Goethe, you impeach them, but do you have evidence that proves they have betrayed the interests of our civilization?”
The Speaker looked at the young man, feeling a headache, but he still had to ask according to the procedures.
Member Goethe’s mentioned members, of course he knew about their close dealings with Pandora World’s divine spirits—their changes were too conspicuous.
One by one, they went from being on the verge of death to spirited middle-aged men. If there wasn’t something amiss, how could he believe it? So, he also conducted a thorough investigation and then he was tempted.
The lure of eternal life indeed cannot be resisted by everyone, but that didn’t include the Speaker, who sat at the pinnacle of power in Earth Star Civilization. He felt he hadn’t enjoyed enough.
“Evidence? Isn’t what we saw on Pandora Planet with our aircraft enough? Those natives wearing animal skins, hunting with Wooden Spears—now they’ve learned to use our rifles, and they’ve even put on kinetic Armor that perfectly fits their physique!
If these things weren’t custom-made for them by some of us, could these natives have made them themselves? This is the best proof that these traitors have sold out the benefits of our Earth Star Civilization.”
“Member Goethe, you’re mistaken; these Weapons and Armor weren’t made for them by some among us; they created them themselves. They have gained the technology to independently make kinetic Armor and energy rifles!”
“You’re actually selling knowledge and technology to them? Do you want to destroy our civilization?”
“You have misunderstood us again; this isn’t something we provided them with. They have figured it out themselves; the wisdom of the Yikong People is by no means inferior to Human.”
