Chapter 878 - 878 866 The Continent-Level Trial Grounds
Chapter 878: Chapter 866: The Continent-Level Trial Grounds Chapter 878: Chapter 866: The Continent-Level Trial Grounds The earth was roaring, and one by one, the Mountain Giants conjured up solid rocks. Following the blueprint, they formed a rough shape before handing it over to the more artistically inclined Cloud Giants for further processing to create more refined statues.
Standing atop a hundred-meter-tall boulder, Demon Hunter Knight Leon gazed down at the giants moving to and fro below, his thoughts drifting as he recalled a conversation he had with Muria not so long ago.
…
“How has your training been progressing recently?” Sitting on the Crystal Throne, Muria was playing with a giant infant, even larger than a normal adult human while smiling amicably at the Demon Hunter Knight below.
“It’s going smoothly, I’m about to break through to the Legend Seventh Rank!” Leon replied, glancing at the giant infant in Muria’s arms that bore some resemblance to him and silently guessed the reason for his summoning.
His presence in Senapus was not very prominent, and although he possessed combat abilities rivaling those of a Legendary Giant Dragon, he was not given much attention. The Ancient Dragons in Senapus were too numerous; he could walk into any tavern on Cloud Island for tea and might even encounter an Ancient Bronze Dragon telling stories in its true form.
Under such circumstances, he barely had any presence, even his impending breakthrough to a high-level Legend was no exception. The modern Senapus was truly a Dragon Island; one more or one less of him made no significant impact on Senapus.
“Leon, I’ve called you here to assign you a task!” Muria thought for a moment, finding little to talk about with the Demon Hunter Knight, and decided to get straight to the point.
“At your command!” Leon stood erect, his growth to his current status largely owed to the protection of Senapus, and secondly, the unrestricted supply of training resources from Senapus.
“It’s about the inheritance issue of your Demon Hunter Knights!” Muria stroked his chin, “Though among the Human Race there are many who think Demon Hunter Knights are no longer necessary—brainless fools, in my opinion—I personally believe it is a profession that must continue to be passed down.”
“…” Leon pursed his lips, not saying a word. He was well aware of how the Demon Hunter Knights had declined in the current era; with his status today, astonishingly, he hadn’t met a second Demon Hunter Knight apart from his father!
Of course, it wasn’t that there were none, but that the whereabouts of those Demon Hunter Knights were far too secretive; often by the time he received news of them, they would vanish without a trace.
The knights who once protected and strengthened the Human Race had, in the modern day, become like Ground Mice forced to hide away, unable to reveal themselves openly—how ridiculous.
“That’s why I’ve spent quite a bit of resources gathering the Demon Hunting Blades, and so far, I have made some progress.” With a wave of his hand, Muria summoned seventeen weapons, including long spears, short swords, and daggers of common designs, floating before Leon.
These weapons were dull and unimpressive, some seemingly in such disrepair that they needed reforging. But these were the Demon Hunting Blades—any human recognized by them could awaken their true power and summon the Demon Hunter Armor.
“Your Majesty!” Sensing the power contained in the floating Demon Hunting Blades before him, excitement appeared on Leon’s face.
“The profession of Demon Hunter Knight needs to continue its legacy. I am not sure about other nations, but my Empire needs the existence of Demon Hunter Knights. Thus, I order you to establish the lands of inheritance for these Demon Hunting Blades and find new heirs for them!”
“By your will!” Stimulated by Muria’s words and completely clueless about how to establish the lands of inheritance, Leon knelt on one knee, accepting the command with high spirits.
…
“Leon, what are you thinking about?” As Leon reminisced, a somewhat deep voice reached his ears. Lowering his head, he immediately saw a tall Mountain Giant looking at him.
“I am considering how to accomplish the task Muria has given me!” Leon said to the Mountain Giant, a bit embarrassed by his predicament. This was a sixty-meter-tall Mountain Giant who had received Titan’s Blessed Blood and had broken through the racial limit.
“Not sure how to arrange the lands of inheritance?” The seemingly simple Mountain Giant chuckled.
“Uh… yes,” Leon admitted awkwardly, his Demon Hunting Blade having been obtained from his father without going through any particularly difficult trials.
“You dare to accept the task without knowing anything?” The Mountain Giant gave Leon a peculiar look.
“I was too excited at the time!” Leon replied with an embarrassed smile. He was aware of Senapus’s plan, where the child of the Titan and the dragon intended to establish an Empire governed by the Eternal Life Beings.
“Actually, setting up the land of inheritance isn’t that difficult; we’re used to this kind of thing!” The Mountain Giant, Bru, waved his hand carelessly upon seeing Leon’s expression.
“Do you know how Senapus selected the first generation of Dragon People initially?”
“I’ve heard something about it, involving a talent assessment and a selection of willpower,” he replied.
“Yes, I participated in the construction of that trial for selecting the Dragon People!”
“So…”
“So, what does it take to become a Demon Hunter Knight?”
“The conditions to become a Demon Hunter Knight? Hm, an unyielding will, loaths evil, not greedy for power, nor covetous of fame and fortune…”
“No wonder there are so few Demon Hunter Knights.” Hearing the slew of conditions Leon listed, the Mountain Giant tugged at the corner of his mouth, scratching his head,
“The will part is easy to handle, just set up a path with gradually increasing gravity, and for the rest, we’ll need to bring in those mages to set up some fantasy magic arrays!”
…Senapus’s actions were swift, mages arrived at the large construction site of ever-rising and sinking boulders as soon as Leon made his application.
Half a month later, Leon stood above the trial grounds that were already taking shape, unconsciously rubbing his nose, and looked towards the Mountain Giant beside him,
“Twelve challenges! Isn’t that a bit too much?”
“These twelve challenges were all set up according to your requirements.” Hearing Leon’s words, the Mountain Giant Bru rolled his eyes, “If you think it’s too many, you can dismantle a few.”
“No need!” Leon laughed awkwardly, slowly descended, and stepped onto the nearly completed trial grounds, then walked forward to personally experience the twelve challenges.
“The glory of the Demon Hunter!” Walking on the first trial path, Leon felt the gravity that descended upon him was no pressure at all; he even had the leisure to observe the murals carved on both sides of the path. These were the true events the giants had carved based on some of the information collected about Demon Hunter Knights by Eternal Life Beings.
…It took Leon a whole day to complete the twelve trials, until he reached the final destination, where a statue of a Demon Hunter Knight clad in armor stood tall.
“The glory of the Demon Hunter Knights shall be passed on!” Seeing these statues of the Demon Hunter Knights, along with the deeds of the Demon Hunter Knights carved at the feet of these statues, Leon silently placed the Demon Hunting Blade that Muria had given him on the high pedestal at the base of these statues.
He was certain that anyone who passed these twelve challenges could pick up one of the Demon Hunting Blades and become a Demon Hunter Knight.
After placing all the Demon Hunting Blades, Leon took to the skies, silently watching several Ancient Dragons from Senapus work together to seal this Demon Hunter inheritance ground, then banish it to a Semi Plane.
“Now, I have one last thing to do!” Leon reached out to pull out his own Demon Hunting Blade, then summoned his mount. He would travel around the world, personally selecting suitable Humans to become Demon Hunter Knights, making sure they found a way to reach the Senapus Subcontinent.
This was the most important thirteenth challenge for those Humans who aspired to become Demon Hunter Knights, or rather, the first challenge.
…
“Kid, do you see? How much thought your dad has put into this for you!” Muria held his son Aeolus in his arms, standing in a room filled with thousands of translucent light screens,
Each of these screens displayed mazes and inheritance grounds that were about to take shape or had already been formed.
This was Muria’s super project, conceived with the initial intent to nurture his son, covering the entire Subcontinent, turning the whole Senapus Subcontinent into a continent of miracles brimming with opportunities.
Muria planned to transform every city on the Senapus Subcontinent into an Underground Palace full of monsters and opportunities, where professions, divine weapons, arcane arts, and treasures… In the future, those who entered the Underground Palace and slew Monsters could potentially gain the chance to change their Destiny.
This was the continental-level trial ground that Muria had constructed for the cultivation of his son, and it was also an excellent way to attract population.
The creatures of the Senapus Subcontinent had already been greatly reduced by Muria’s Legion, and now Muria urgently needed beings of various races to fill it.
Otherwise, what Empire could he establish without a population base? An Empire with less than ten million people? That would be a joke! Among the Ten Great Empires, the one with the least population still had over a billion citizens.
“Wah ah!” Aeolus didn’t understand the meaning of Muria’s words, merely curiously scrutinizing the dense screens surrounding him, making noises that even he didn’t understand.
“To become an Emperor, you must know the weight of the crown upon your head! So, sorry, kid!”
