Chapter 821: Chapter 810: Don’t Have High Expectations for the Dragon King’s Gift Chapter 821: Chapter 810: Don’t Have High Expectations for the Dragon King’s Gift The Sterling Subcontinent, where Xena Pus was currently staying, is also the eighth subcontinent Murphy had reached in his travels around the world. Of course, Murphy did not go sightseeing on this continent as his current focus was entirely on his campaigns in the exotic realms.
Retrieving the giant dragons he used to keep had ceased to be Murphy’s concern, a task now assigned to his subordinates. The dragons now held little significance to his power; the search was once an obsession, but to do so personally would be a waste of his time.
Furthermore, Xena Pus’s main purpose in arriving at the Sterling Subcontinent wasn’t to visit the giant dragons once kept by Murphy, but to gather all dragons of the land, every pureblood member of the Dragon Race of any age or type, without exception.
Therefore, finding those Five Colored Dragons that Murphy once cared for was only a secondary task, something incidental. In fact, there was no need to search—for the exiled Five Colored Dragons, no matter how well they fared, could not match Murphy’s high status and thus approached Xena Pus of their volition upon his arrival at Sterling.
And due to the myriad plans set by Murphy, Xena Pus’s presence on the Sterling Subcontinent led the creatures living there to experience what is called, ‘midnight sun.’
Now, the thousand Cloud Cities brought back by Murphy from the Boundless Heavenly Realm were stationed above the Sterling Subcontinent, bathing that patch of sky in light and leaving no sliver of darkness anywhere on the continent.
This spectacular phenomenon did not cause panic, for angels were seen entering and exiting the floating cities above, with their nature being well-known to most. This brought great joy and a sense of security to the people living on the land below.
…
One month before the wedding,
“At last, the venue is prepared!”, Murphy sighed in relief as he looked at the convention site formed by a thousand Cloud Cities. While arranging the venue with Cloud Cities seemed easy, in reality, it was quite challenging.
Given the definitive confirmations from both of his grandfathers, that Blazing Sky Gods, and Epic Titans would attend, and rumors that even the Dragon King had expressed his intent to join the wedding after receiving the invitation.
However, Murphy did not know exactly how many members of these three epic races would come, a detail that put the venue arrangement to the test. It would be extremely awkward if an epic tycoon showed up without a suitable place prepared for them.
Luckily, he didn’t have to fret too much, as the thousand Cloud Cities had been used by the Golden Dragon Mother as Array Nodes to form a composite Magic Array covering the entire continent, based on which a Holy Light Continent was condensed and suspended above the Sterling Subcontinent.
Shortly after the venue was set up, guests started to arrive, because the massive stir Murphy caused and his intention to use the thousand Cloud Cities as a wedding venue had quickly spread. All forces were eagerly gathering information, and Murphy had no intention of keeping it hidden.
Thus, the second thing Murphy anticipated about his wedding began.
“Hm, this is a wedding gift from a local kingdom, a piece of Skyfall Steel weighing thirteen kilograms, tsk, they’re really generous!” The Golden Dragon Mother toyed with a legendary metal, a piece emanating a silver spirit light, her tone revealing admiration and amazement.
“It seems the commotion you’ve caused has frightened them quite a bit, to the point of sending such rare resources over.”
“I didn’t intend to do anything to them; they’re the ones overthinking it. But since it’s been sent, let’s accept it,” Murphy said, as he walked over and snatched the piece of Skyfall Steel from the Golden Dragon Mother’s hands. It was the first wedding gift he received since sending out invitations, and within it, the most valuable was this piece of Legendary Metal.
“What’s the matter, I can’t have a look?”
“No, you can’t,” Murphy replied firmly, shaking his head. If the Legendary Metal stayed too long in his mother’s hands, he worried that parts might mysteriously vanish, even possibly disappearing altogether.
“Tsk, stingy. It was sent as a wedding gift to you, you think I would embezzle it?”
“What do you think?” Murphy chuckled. The Golden Dragon Mother had been nicking from him since he was young. He anticipated a wealth of gifts for the wedding, including numerous strategic resources like Legendary Metal, and it would be surprising if his mother didn’t take a bit off the top for herself.
“Mother, I’ll handle receiving the gifts. Please, go rest over there for now!”
“No, you’ve invited too many guests this time, I don’t think you can handle it alone, and I feel obligated to help you.”
No matter how Muria tried to persuade her, the Golden Dragon Mother simply refused to give up her duty as the gift-receiving officer. In the end, Muria had no choice but to reluctantly agree; how could he not when the Golden Dragon Mother brought up the incident of him stealing from the treasury? After all, it was his fault to some extent, as he had gone overboard.
As the wedding day drew closer, more and more guests arrived. The arriving guests were either rich or noble: rulers of countries or legendary figures from various places, each with their own renown.
When it was only ten days until the wedding, even the Ten Great Empires of the Main Continent had sent envoys bearing a wealth of precious resources to congratulate Muria.
But along with these imperial envoys came those from the Church of the Good God, with whom Muria had once been friendly. They too sent envoys with gifts to convey their congratulations.
Muria knew full well that these envoys were not just there to offer congratulations; they were clearly there to scout for information, no doubt startled by the commotion he had caused. This was likely according to the will of the Blazing Sky God Arudiba and within his expectations.
Thus, Muria did not care much about these people. Those who brought congratulatory gifts were all welcomed; he accepted all of them. As for those looking for information, they were free to try. If they went too far and ended up not knowing how they died, they would realize that the giant Magic Array built by the Golden Dragon Mother was not to be trifled with.
Ao! As the wedding day approached, a proud dragon’s roar sounded from beyond the horizon, shaking the heavens. Accompanying the roar was an overwhelming presence that made all creatures below the rank of legend tremble with fear and kneel in worship. This was the natural and awe-inspiring authority of the Epics.
The first Epic had arrived, and was none other than a Dragon King. Muria did not recognize this Dragon King, which surprised him, but he went to meet him nonetheless.
After settling the first-arriving Arms-Maker Dragon King in the central Cloud City, Muria eagerly opened the gift from this Dragon King—a sword sheath.
Upon opening the sword sheath, Muria immediately felt sharp edges sweep across his face, causing his skin to prickle slightly. A closer look revealed seven war knives of varying designs inside the sheath.
“Seven Legendary Weapons, wow!” The Golden Dragon Mother also looked on. When she saw the war knives in the sheath, she casually picked up the shortest one, which was still over fifteen meters long.
“To give away seven from the start, how generous!” exclaimed the Golden Dragon Mother as she lightly tapped on the blade of the war knife, producing a crisp metallic resonance. However, her expression quickly turned strange. After tapping a few more times, she showed a look of disdain.
“I take back what I just said. This Arms-Maker Dragon King is too stingy.”
“What’s wrong?” Muria asked with a puzzled look. He too tapped on the war knife following the Golden Dragon Mother, but didn’t feel anything amiss. These were indeed genuine Legendary Weapons and, among such weapons, they were of high quality.
“Little Muria, that’s not good enough. Haven’t you realized what these knives are forged from?” The Golden Dragon Mother seemed somewhat vexed by Muria’s puzzled look. How could her son have lost the signature skill of the Dragon Race?
“I can’t tell. It must be a very superior material; though it’s not Legendary Metal, it’s not much worse.”
“Tsk, Legendary Metal? It’s just the everyday dragon scales shed by that Dragon King, far inferior in flexibility compared to Legendary Metal. What a miserly Dragon King.”
“It’s fine. Regardless, they’re still seven Legendary Weapons, which is better than I expected,” Muria said, without showing too much disappointment on his face.
He had never held high expectations for the Dragon King’s wedding gift. Dragons were naturally miserly creatures, so how could he expect a Dragon King to be generous? Dream on!
“Seven Legendary Weapons? Do you think they’re precious to that Dragon King? Didn’t you notice how I addressed that Dragon King? He specializes in forging. It wouldn’t take him even a day to forge these seven weapons.”
The Golden Dragon Mother was quite frustrated. “Even so, he’s still a Dragon King! To think he had the cheek to offer such paltry gifts. Even the gifts from various kingdoms were more precious than these.”
“Calm down, aren’t dragons all like this?” Compared to Golden Dragon Mother’s anger, Muria was very calm. To that Dragon King, these seven weapons were nothing more than a few casually forged scales that had fallen off his body—a truly stingy gift for a Dragon King.
“Live and learn. We can look forward to the gifts from the Blazing Sky Gods and my Titan Ancestors, but let’s not expect too much from the gifts of a Dragon King.”
