Chapter 637 - 637 632 Listen is this what the Dragon is
Chapter 637: Chapter 632: Listen, is this what the Dragon is saying? Chapter 637: Chapter 632: Listen, is this what the Dragon is saying? The blades clashed, and Muria left a deep cross-shaped slash scar that revealed bone on top of the White Snake’s head. Using this scar as a starting point, an endless array of sword qi and blade light wreaked havoc on the White Snake’s body, leaving numerous intersecting and elongated wounds.
Bang! Muria kicked the White Snake’s body, stepping on its winding body as he sped towards the frosty ground. His descent was so rapid that he generated intense friction with the air, causing fierce flames to burn on the White Snake’s body. However, these flames were quickly extinguished by its cold body.
With a loud boom, the solid frost soil, in that instant, rippled like the surface of water disturbed by a thrown stone. The frozen earth touching the White Snake’s body crumbled to dust, and the ground caved in and rapidly sank, creating a winding abyss shaped like a snake on the surface, leaving an unsightly wound.
Muria stabbed the Seven Sins Blade into the heart that the White Snake had regrown, blocking the flow of power within its body. He then wielded the Demonsweeper Sword, aiming it at the intersection of the cross-shaped scars on top of the White Snake’s head and directly pierced through its skull, pinning its head tightly into the frozen soil.
For ordinary creatures, severe damage to their vital organs would be fatal. But for a high-level legendary creature like the White Snake, such injuries were merely excruciatingly painful. Destroying its brain didn’t prevent it from thinking, as creatures of its kind no longer relied on their brains but on their more splendid souls.
Even if the White Snake died, its powerful soul could easily transform it into a legendary undead. However, at that point, only a tenth of its power would remain, and its weaknesses would become more obvious, making it easy to target.
“White Snake, you’ve lost. Just obediently become my energy supply!” Muria let out a hearty laugh and shook his hand slightly, producing a chain that looked like it was formed from a condensed star river.
Following Muria’s thought, the chain began to extend infinitely, and then wrapped around the body of the White Snake. Ancient divine text, signifying sealing and suppression, began to emerge on the Star Cloud Chain. The White Snake was about to struggle when Muria drew the Army-breaking Halberd and randomly hacked at it.
After this, the White Snake could no longer resist, only capable of writhing in pain under Muria’s feet. Slightly golden red blood slowly seeped from the countless wounds on its body, presenting a bleak sight. In the battle against Muria, almost all of its snake scales had been shattered and shed off.
“Also, all of you, don’t even think about resisting or escaping.” After suppressing the White Snake, Muria’s gaze turned to the other four craters, where three Frost Giants and a dragon lay limbless, all of whom had given up struggling.
Though they were sent by the gods, they harbored their own thoughts. They knew that on the battlefield of the gods, they held the absolute advantage, yet due to Muria’s identity, the gods dared not directly intervene. They would only observe.
“Don’t worry, rest assured, I keep my word, I won’t kill you.” Muria dragged the half-crippled Frost Giant leaders over, then pressed down the ice dragon, whose limbs were almost regrown, on top of them. The Star Cloud Chain spread, entangling these four legends completely, binding them tightly.
This chain made of various legendary metals that only the Eternal Flame could melt could even seal some weaker gods who would get entangled with it. Of course, under normal circumstances, Muria could not breach through the chain towards the gods.
“It’s time to end this war!” Muria looked up at the sky. Michaela’s battle had already ended long ago. As soon as the Eight-winged Descendant of the Blazing Sky Gods who’d been shamelessly lingering in Elasia had joined in, the balance between Michaela and the five legends she was fighting was quickly broken. All five legends fighting with Michaela had been dealt with.
Due to the interference of the reckless uncle, three legends were killed, and only two were kept alive by Michaela, who remembered instructions from Muria. They were, however, at death’s door.
With the support of the nine Ancient Silver Dragons and the royal army they brought, the giant legion quickly defeated the savage Frost Giants. The giants were already a disorganized mob and only had their individual strength. They were brave, but that didn’t mean they didn’t fear death.
A total of over 12,000 Frost Giants were killed, 34,000 Frost Giants fled, and all remaining Frost Giants were captured. Due to the herd mentality, many Frost Giants surrendered willingly.
“Prince Mureya, greetings!” As Muria stood on top of his pile of legendary captives, watching his people beginning to clean up the battlefield, the nine silver dragons came before Mureya. The largest and oldest Ancient Silver Dragon greeted Mureya, an existence that had caught the attention of even their Dragon King ancestor.
“My name is Elfie Shashire.”
“I have no money available!” Without waiting for the silver dragon in front of him to speak any further, Muria quickly replied.
“How can you be like this?” Hearing Muria’s words, the rest of the silver dragons immediately showed their discontent. They only came to Muria for reimbursement for their war expenses. Each shot of the magic cannon cost them money; it was an all-out paid attack.
“Discussions on other topics are welcome, but when it comes to money, I don’t have a single copper.” Muria stood on the white, large snake, all wrapped in chains, evenly regarding the nine silver dragons around him.
“We came to help you and expended so much. Isn’t it reasonable for you to reimburse us for part of our expenses?”
“Did I ask you to come?” Muria asked surprisingly. No matter what, he would not give these dragons a single penny. After releasing the seeds, he already possessed the overwhelming power to dominate the entire field. Victory was only a matter of time.
For this war, the arrival of these silver dragons just added to his victory, rather than saving him from a desperate situation. The scales of victory had already tilted in his favor before the silver dragons arrived.
“You’re being excessively stingy!” The silver dragons grumbled in discontent. If it wasn’t for the Dragon King’s command, they wouldn’t have come in the first place. Now, it seemed like their efforts were utterly unappreciated.
“Aren’t you a Titan? As a Titan, you should honor your promises. How can you be so miserly?”
“Indeed, I am a Titan, but I am also a golden dragon. Without any valid reason, you all are trying to extort wealth from a dragon?” Muria looked astonishment at these relentless silver dragons. Even if there were valid reasons, whether dragons were willing to pay was a different question.
Take, for instance, the time when the Dragon Kings collectively commanded the killing of the legendary lich from the Undead Council. The reward seemed pretty good, comprised of the Dragon King’s scales and blood.
Yet, in reality, scales and blood weren’t that significant to the massive body of a Dragon King. For humans, it’s just like dandruff and nails.
Nary a dragon would give out a penny. One could tell from the dragons’ gifts that none of them were generous, so the word ‘generous’ never appeared in the dragon lexicon.
“How are our reasons not valid? We brought our nation’s elite troops, engaged our every power to help you win this war. Without us, you might have won, but at a greater cost. Considering this, shouldn’t you give us some compensation?”
“You make a good point.” Muria nodded thoughtfully. “I’m not unreasonable, but I genuinely don’t have the money now.”
Muria heaved a sigh. “I’m currently in debt by five hundred million elemental crystals. I really can’t spare extra to pay you. Let me owe you for now, I’ll pay you back in eight or nine thousand years when I have the money. How about it?”
“Eight or nine thousand years? Why not say eighty or ninety thousand years!” The silver dragons gasped, shocked by Muria’s shamelessness. He’d really promised to pay them back in eight to nine thousand years– wouldn’t it have been simpler to say he wasn’t going to repay them at all?
“In eighty or ninety thousand years, you all might not be alive.” Muria unconsciously touched his chin. He was confident he’d achieve immortality, but he couldn’t be sure about the dragons before him.
“No, a thousand years is too late, you have to set a reasonable deadline.” A dragon next to the silver dragon leader Elfie Shashire interjected, glaring at Muria with an unfriendly eye.
“Don’t push me too far. I’m already doing a favor by taking on a debt that I shouldn’t owe in the first place.”
“But you have no intention of paying it back. In eight to nine thousand years, most of us dragons won’t even exist any more!” Elfie Shashire sighed heavily.
“I’m confident that I’ll live that long.” Muria said, thumping his chest confidently.
“But we’re not.” Several silver dragons bared their teeth at Muria, resisting the urge to lunge at him.
At a legendary level, obtaining another kind of immortality was possible if one was ready to let go of their pride, such as pledging loyalty to a deity, falling into the abyss and becoming a lich, or collecting rare treasures that could prolong life and performing a legendary life-extension ritual. The methods were numerous.
However, having many ways to extend one’s lifespan didn’t mean one would get to enjoy it. The longer you live, the more obstacles you face.
In reality, ninety-nine percent of legendary creatures fell due to combat or accidents, and fewer than one percent might live long enough to lose their will to live, allowing themselves to age and die.
So, no legend would dare to guarantee that they could live for eight to nine thousand years.
Like the mighty divine serpent beneath Muria, in a certain sense, it had achieved infinite life. But if Muria wanted to kill it, it wasn’t a difficult task either.
“If that’s the case, then I will write you a promissory note. When the time comes, your descendants can bring it to me and I promise I will repay these war expenses.”
Upon Muria’s shameless declaration, everyone, including the nine silver dragons and four legends at Muria’s feet, were struck dumb. Is this something a dragon would say?
Hmm, the nine silver dragons gave each other a glance and thought about it. It did sound like something a dragon would say. But how could he be so brazen? If word of this got out…the reputation of the Golden Dragon Clan would be tarnished. No, that pack of ‘moral’ golden dragons would most certainly follow suit, collectively ruining the reputation of the Golden Dragon Clan.
This was undoubtedly a corrupting influence that would spread amongst the Metallic Dragon Clan, and it had to be curbed as soon as possible.
