Chapter 628: Chapter 623: The Beginning of Conquest and Slaughter Chapter 628: Chapter 623: The Beginning of Conquest and Slaughter “I can sense it, war, death, corpses, and blood.” In a Frost Giant tribe nestled within a glacial canyon, an elderly Frost Giant, clad in animal skins and holding a bone staff in the semblance of a shaman, raved maddily. Hearing his words, the Frost Giants knelt in the surroundings, their eyes filled with terror, looked at each other, panic spreading among them.
“On the golden dragon wings hang the corpses of giants. It is a golden calamity, bringing endless disaster and death to this land.” From a temple excavated out of the glacier, the eyes of a rugged idol suddenly lit up. With a divine might like a prison, it awakened and uttered horrific words to the Frost Giants offering it sacrifices.
“Rebellious giants unite with the weak dragons, under the leadership of a powerful entity who controls flames and can melt a glacial land, to kill their own kind.”
…
Under the enormous pressure of Muria assembling the Frost Giant Army, dozens of ice and snow deities issued terrifying divine oracles. Some ruling Frost Giants also spread prophecies akin to the coming of the apocalypse in unison with the shamans. Then, these Frost Giant tribes began to prepare for war under the coercion of death.
For the Giants, the greatest appeal of the Titan lies in the bloodline. Living for a long period near the Titan can break the shackles of the bloodline and ascend to a higher level of life. But it is not only the Titan that has such a capability. As long as one offers faith to the deities and prays devoutly, the deities would bestow their grace and break the shackles of the bloodline as well.
However, this method can only be enjoyed by a few giants. Ordinary Frost Giants cannot reach such a level of faith that can invoke deities to bestow their grace upon and those Frost Giants form the ruling class of their tribes; the upper echelons of the hierarchy.
Power is the thing that corrupts the heart the most, and giants are no exception; most of the rulers are not noble. They do not wish to lose the power in their hands and desire to keep the power under their control forever. No ruler wants to have another being who could command them above their heads.
For the ruling class of these Frost Giant tribes, Muria is not a necessary existence. As for deities, Muria is an absolute enemy of the gods. The actions of Muria uniting the Frost Giants shake the foundations of their faith.
What will be the fate of deities who have lost the power of faith? This is well known to all. Some deities have already begun preparing. If Muria goes too far, they will risk being bombarded to death by the Stellar Orbital Cannon, go down in avatar form, resist till death, instead of just awaiting certain death. They prefer to resist the Titan and vanish together with him.
“So, actions have already been initiated? Gods of ice and snow, do you dare to cast down your divine avatars?” Muria’s eyes were gleaming with anticipation upon feeling the divine reaction emanating from the remote sky dome. He is not alone in this battle.
Even if there are deities who resist and cast down avatars equivalent to legendary peak entities, he also has beings who can confront them. The three Beast Gods who have allied with him are his trump cards, so he does not need to worry too much.
“Muria, are you really planning to combat all the deities at the same time?” A huge cold crow landed in front of Muria. Under his feet, on the frozen ground, a frost wolf made of ice and snow was materializing. This was an avatar of the God of the Frost Wolf.
“Of course not, fighting against all deities of ice and snow would be too foolish,” Muria retorted. “The correct method is to curry favor with some, and suppress some. I will woo the virtuous deities and suppress the evil ones.”
“But it seems that none of the deities worshipped by the Frost Giants meet your criteria.” The Cold Crow God spoke somewhat helplessly. The Frost Giants are undoubtedly evil if divided by factions. How many fine ones could there be among the deities they worship? The best could only be neutral, not to mention the virtuous ones.
“The morality of deities can be changed. In the future, if deities wish to continue receiving the worship of the Frost Giants, they must change their teachings and abandon their evil behavior, just like you.”
Muria’s gaze fell on two Beast Gods in front of him. They were modifying their doctrine in a manner which would comply with Muria’s demands. If they could obtain Muria’s permission, not only could their religion spread among the Frost Giants, but could also be propagated into the territory of humans.
“Remember, your doctrine must be based on: prosperity, civilization, harmony, patriotism, dedication, integrity, and friendliness. We cannot step outside this category. All that are contrary to this are heresies and I will order them to be suppressed and eradicated.”
“With this, we would completely transform into lawful kind deities, or at least into neutral ones at worst.”
“Of course, it should be that way. I wouldn’t work with the evil gods. That’s the basic requirement. You have the opportunity to convert now; I won’t wait for much longer.”
“Understood. I will continue to revise my doctrine.” For minor deities who desire survival, there are not many options. Modifying their own doctrine, and even their own factions, is a very dangerous thing for deities.
But for the Cold Crow God and Frost Wolf God, this risk is very much worth taking. Once they succeed, they can receive an unprecedented promotion, making it an irresistible temptation to them.
…
“This is a strange feeling. We obviously control the power of the flames,” In Michaela’s hand, a ball of red Blazing God Flame was quietly burning. She turned her head to look at the numerous White Dragon Legion beside her and the three neatly arranged Frost Giant formations under her feet, “but we command an army with the attribute of ice and snow.”
“Weak dragons are willing to follow strong dragons, and Frost Giants are willing to follow Titans. It’s perfectly normal.” Muria spoke casually.
“But your conquest plans also include the Frost Giants, and they are preparing to resist you,” Michaela said in a bland tone.
“That’s also perfectly normal. After all, rulers do not want to lose the power in their hands, and deities do not want to lose their faith.”
To conquer the Frost Giants, only the force of war could be applied. Last time, I moved too fast, causing the three tribes of the Frost Wolves to be unable to react, and thus, they were conquered by me in that way. If given time to prepare, they will definitely incite their kind to oppose me.
Now, we’re about to clash with the united Frost Giant tribes. Even now, although the Frost Giants might hesitate to face me, they will not kneel and submit so easily again.” With the vast intelligence system of the Cold Crow, Muria already knew the tricks of those deities.
“This is also good since it will allow me to accumulate some war experience.”
“Michaela, do you think I am cruel? For my own selfish desire, I am starting such a vast war.” Muria suddenly asked, looking at Michaela’s profile. He had already told Michaela the primary reason why he is waging war.
He wants to assemble a powerful army that can sweep across the entire subcontinent. The elites chosen from the united Frost Giants will be a part of this army.
“There’s nothing cruel about it. Although you are uniting the Frost Giants for your own selfish desires, unity is a good thing for the divided Giant Race. While many giants may die now, they will have a better future.”
“Thank you for your understanding.” Muria reached out and held the hand of the Blazing Sky Girl.
“It’s nothing, to me, the Frost Giants are just evil creatures. Their death, regardless of the number, is of no concern to me.”
“That’s true!” Muria smiled. Even the kind creatures of the Heavenly Realm are not so-called saints. To show mercy to one’s enemies is indeed a very foolish thing.
“Move out!” After the main force of the Frost Giant Legion and the White Dragon completed their assembly, Muria swung his Damo Sword forward, and his majestic voice spread across the land.
The white giant dragon roared in the sky, marching forward with the Frost Wolves. On their shoulders stood the Frost Giants from the Cold Crow tribe, heading towards the Frost Giant tribe Muria had chosen.
The tremors caused by the marching army triggered the collapse of some small glaciers on the way, scaring off numerous small ice and snow animals that scurried away in panic, only to be hunted down by the Snow Leopards clearing the path for the Frost Giant Legion. They belonged to the bloodline of the God of the Snow Leopard.
“Your Majesty, why don’t you use the Void battleships?” The Legendary Frost Giant Leader, Frost Fang, approached Muria and asked.
“What I want is to conquer, not to slaughter. The power of the main cannons on the Void battleships is too great, a full salvo by the fleet would wipe out those in the lower ranks of a tribe.”
“In that case, the casualties among my people will be relatively high.”
“Frost Fang, think long-term. In due time, the concept of tribes will disappear, and you should have the concept of a nation. From then on, there will be no distinction between one’s own kind and outsiders. As a legend among the Frost Giants, you should treat every ordinary Frost Giant equally.”
“I understand.”
“Have you witnessed the war in the Void and still maintain such a narrow view? Legendary figures are firm in their beliefs, which also makes them extremely stubborn.”
To some extent, if Muria did not make his selfish desires public, he could be seen as a sage for the Frost Giants. He truly is capable of bringing them a bright and beautiful future.
…
“Frost Giants on the opposing side, surrender. You cannot stand against the Frost Wolf Legion.” A Frost Giant, clad in heavy metal armor, stepped forward from the formation and shouted loudly. His voice was filled with undeniable pride.
Looking at the ten-thousands of frost Giants scattered before him, dressed in beast hides, he revealed a confident smile. Whether in terms of top strength, equipment, military power, or other aspects, his side had the absolute advantage. Victory was inevitable.
“There comes a being who controls the Flames, leading the rebellious Giants to wage war and slaughter on this icy land!” An unkempt Frost Giant leader with a wild beard looked up at Muria, surrounded by Dragons high above the Frost Giant Legion, and at Michaela beside him. His eyes squinted:
“The prophecy of the Gods has been fulfilled, my brethren. You have seen it. The beings who wish to annihilate our tribes have arrived. Raise your weapons and resist!”
“I’ve never thought of annihilating you!”
“This is deceit, my brethren. Do not believe in it.”
“You’re asking for it!” Muria’s eyes turned ice-cold, and the killing intent was clearly visible. The Spear of the Sun Chaser appeared in his hand, gradually transforming into a surge of Thunder…
