Chapter 612: Chapter 608: I’m sorry! I didn’t want this either Chapter 612: Chapter 608: I’m sorry! I didn’t want this either “”What’s going on? What has Muria done?” Enveloped in the joy of conquering two worlds, the Dragon Princess was incensed to learn that her opponents had occupied the rest of the small worlds.
She didn’t understand how this had happened. How had Muria’s legions suddenly taken control of four worlds formerly under the Locust Civilization’s sway?
In her wildest dreams, she never thought that Muria would unseat the supreme ruler of the Locust Civilization alongside a terrifyingly cute creature, then audaciously secure control himself.
“Your Majesty, we must not dwell on this for now. To ensure victory, we must attack the homeworld of the Locust People. If His Excellency acquires the scepter and crown first, you lose. But all their occupied worlds will be pointless if you get hold of those items first,” cautioned Sapphire Dragon Rin, the strategic advisor to the Dragon Princess. She wasn’t involved in the battles.
“I understand,” the unknowing loser, Princess Filisia of Dragons, began gathering her dragons and legion chiefs to discuss the invasion strategy…
The World of Solos, the God-King Palace
“Star Sword Lord and Xing Venerate, I entrust your capable hands with the defense this time,” declared Yingdila, mirroring the words Muria used—the words spoken by the actual God King of the Locust People, Kilov.
“Your Excellency, don’t you plan to fight?” asked Xing Venerate, a high-level legend amongst the Locust People, summoned by the five Locust Deities.
“I need to stay here to prepare for emergencies. Besides the invasion you two venerated ones will face, there is another invader force outside our world. They possess the power to kill four Locust Deities. We can’t underestimate their strength. I should stay to fend off their attack.”
Muria, the mastermind leading the Locust Civilization’s primary force into numerous battlefields, contrived a perfect excuse for Yingdila, who couldn’t afford to fight personally.
“What a tiresome predicament!” Xing Venerate sighed at the news of a second invader, weighed down by the stress. Even as one of the Locust Civilization’s apex beings, he felt the strain of their race’s survival hanging by a thread.
“The Locust Civilization will not perish like this. We will persist,” declared Yingdila with unyielding conviction, his motivating words lifting the spirits of many Locust Deities.
And so, the world defensive war began, spanning thousands of kilometers at the frontier. After Princess Filisia of Dragons breached the barrier of the Solos Civilization homeworld with a barrage from void battleships, her legion was met by the thirty million-strong Locust legion. Additionally, the Locust People had seventeen legendary level Locust Deities, led by two high-level legendary Locust People.
Under Muria’s masterful manipulation, he rallied almost eighty percent of the Locust Civilization’s warpower to resist the invasion by Princess Filisia of Dragons from the exotic realm.
Moreover, using the name of the God-King, he declared total warfare, commandeering Locust People who surpassed the boundary of ordinary strength to fight. This drained every shred of potential from their race.
This militant behavior plunged the Locust Civilization into social unrest, driving it towards the brink of collapse. In this climate, factions advocating peace and surrender emerged.
Some Locust People believed they shouldn’t antagonize the invading beings, particularly after they displayed such immense strength. Resistance would be futile.
However, any such pacifist factions were swiftly suppressed by Muria’s dispatched Locust powerhouses. Surrender to the Dragon Princess? A joke! They had to fight to their deaths. Any Locust People advocating surrender were spies and traitors deserving a brutal death.
…As three years passed, the battlefield where the Dragon Princess clashed with the Locust Civilization’s main force had retreated nearly ten thousand kilometers. Countless cities fell, and millions of Locust People were displaced—the rest died. Whether it was a blessing or curse to survive, their future… was gone.
“Have these Locust People gone mad? They launched such widespread stinging attacks on me! Why aren’t they assaulting Muria’s legions instead?” Princess Filisia of Dragons frustratingly questioned after a three-year-long advance of over ten thousand kilometers on the frontline.
“Your Majesty, the Locust People have also started war with Muria’s legions. However, their scale of attack is incomparable to ours,” a weary Rin responded.
“Humph, they call that an assault? The pathetic Locust People raiding Muria’s legions don’t even make up a fraction of the Locust military forces on our front.”
“Your Majesty, it’s precisely because you pose such a formidable threat and Muria’s Titan Legion—in their magical disguise—simply cannot compare,” Rin advised.
“I sense something suspicious. That Muria is up to something, there’s a conspiracy afoot. We’ve fallen into a trap three years back,” declared Princess Filisia of Dragons resolutely. Her instincts for conspiracies were incredibly sharp. Although she did have a haughty nature due to the indulgence of her royal kin, she was no fool.
“Indeed, the legion under Lord Muria is just too abnormal. Against such a weak locust legion, the war has gone back and forth over the course of three years, with the battle lines advancing no more than a thousand miles. Furthermore, only three legends have shown themselves during this time, and Muria himself has never shown himself,” commented a soldier.
“Perhaps Lord Muria executing a decapitation strategy. After all, the highest ruler of the Locust Civilization has never appeared on our battlefield,” suggested another.
“Impossible. While Titan is strong, it’s not to the point that it can wipe out a high-level legend just after being promoted to legend. Although the alien legends are weaker, they wouldn’t be silently exterminated by Muria. The fluctuations from that level of battle, we would definitely be able to detect,” refuted another.
“One who understands the character of Titan and possesses a sufficient understanding of the habits of Golden Dragons, Princess Filisia of Dragons said, “Given Muria’s personality, he wouldn’t resort to sneak attacks. The likes him only enjoy face-to-face battles.”
Recalling the scene of Muria thrashing the Blazing Sky God Descendants, the Dragon Princess believed that her judgments were correct. This kind of character, definitely wouldn’t understand conspiracy and intrigue.
…
“God King, our race, our civilization, is already close to the brink of extinction. And yet, you still sit in the God-King Palace, immobile, only suppressing your fellow species. How dare you question that I am doing nothing?” A crippled and weak Locust God huffed, glaring fiercely at the God King transformed by Yingdila.
“Rebellions? Who dares call them rebellions?”
“I do.”
“They just want to find a way out for our civilization, but you label them as traitors. You are the greatest traitor. Do you actually want our civilization to perish?”
The war had lasted to this point and the war-weariness of the lower-tier locusts had spread to the ruling class of the Locust Civilization. Over three hundred million locusts had died in the war, and more than half of the legendary locusts, revered as deities in the Locust Civilization, had also been killed. Among them was the high-level Legendary Star Sword Lord; the surviving Legendary Locust People were scarcely in good condition.
“Impudent!” the enigma-embodied God King sneered at the question, substantial soul energy waves surged from her, sweeping across the Palace of the God King. The questioning locust retched out a mouthful of locust fluid. A faint transparent flame was burning within it, symbolizing the wounds it had suffered on the battlefield; wounds so severe, they couldn’t be healed yet.
“What are you trying to do, Kilov?” Four God Locusts had come to face Yingdila along with this God Locust, together they resisted these soul energy waves.
In the three-year period, the highest ruler of the Locust Civilization had his hands stained with the blood of at least a million of his own kind. In the external war, apart from providing resources and sending one able-bodied locust after another to the battlefield, he exhibited no other action. Such a ruler couldn’t win the approval of these God Locusts – he had already lost his credibility.
“You want to rebel against me?” Yingdila sent out a scoffing Soul Sound, identical to the mockery the God King had directed at Muria three years before.
“You’re not worthy of sitting there, Kilov!”
“Exactly, you should abdicate now, traitor.”
“Our civilization, in your hands, is doomed to decline.”
… Continuous scoldings made Muria, who was standing by and had transformed into a Locust, almost burst out laughing. It was like watching a comedy.
“I abdicate? And who will take the throne? Lord Xing? Or perhaps you lot? Are you worthy?” Yingdila scoffed, “A bunch of rebels who want to surrender; do you want our species to become slaves to other races?”
“Hmph. Next, I’ll gather the last strength of our civilization and then head to the war to meet up with Lord Xing. Then, I’ll join forces with him and launch a final assault. If I fail, it will mean that I have died in battle. At that time, the future of civilization will be up to you to decide. But, at this moment, I call the shots. Anyone who dares to disobey me is a traitor.”
Upon hearing this, all the God Locusts became silent; then, they tactfully withdrew…
“God King, you’ve finally arrived,” croaked Lord Xing, his body crouching, as he saw Yingdila, who came with eight million Locusts. Full of adoration, he knew the God King planned to die in battle, refusing to yield even in the face of death.
“Lord Xing!” Just then, a locust dressed in a God Servant’s robe left the formation. Under the puzzled glance of Lord Xing, it came in front of him. Suddenly, a strike of Golden Thunder pierced into his chest without warning.
“Sorry! I didn’t want to end your life like this!” came a soul whisper in his ear.
