Chapter 601 - 601 597 Mysterious and Unpredictable Void
Chapter 601: Chapter 597: Mysterious and Unpredictable Void Chapter 601: Chapter 597: Mysterious and Unpredictable Void “Is this the Void?” Muria pulls out the Seven Sins Blade, cleaving a behemoth worm that lunged at the fleet into two. Its hundred meter-long body still squirmed. Muria’s eyes filled with surprise. He hadn’t expected the Void to be this “lively.”
As per Muria’s prediction, the Void should be a silent abyss. Occasionally a beast that could devour stars might roam, a scenario he could envision and comprehend. However, the scene before him was far from his prediction.
As his fleet just jumped out of the Erathia World, numerous worm-like void creatures swarmed from all directions. They acted like mindless moths to a flame, entirely ignorant of harm, pushing forward amidst the barrage of the fleet’s artillery and the legendary warriors—bereft of intelligence, acting on pure instinct.
“These are Void Worms. Don’t get entangled with them. Muria, give the order quickly. Let the fleet activate at maximum power and proceed at full speed to shake them off.” The Seventh Princess, who had bravely volunteered to navigate for Muria, advised him.
“Alright!” Muria, who held the highest control authority of these three fleets, commanded the three ship maidens each controlling their respective fleets: “Full speed ahead, shake off these worms.”
“At your command, Commander Your Excellency!” Three distinct and somewhat mechanical feminine voices echoed in Muria’s consciousness, devoid of any emotion.
These were the spirits of three Void Battleships that spanned five thousand meters long in the fleet, akin to Tower Spirits. However, these three ship maidens were rigid and could not compare to Cassio. They could only mechanically execute various orders and assist in the operation and functioning of the fleet.
“Yingdila, return at once.” Muria, hovering in the Void and watching Yingdila, who had transformed into the Nine-Headed Dragon and was busily devouring the Void Worms, could only sigh while feeling slightly shocked.
In Lockman Kingdom, absent of Muria’s restraint and with absolute freedom, no one knew how many creatures Yingdila had devoured. The nine-headed dragon she had morphed into was undoubtedly one of them.
“Wait for me, Muria.” After swallowing another nine Void Worms, Yingdila, who despite having nine heads shared a single will, transformed into a Blue Wing Peng bird. It caught up with the flagship where Muria was in the blink of an eye.
“Devouring anything and morphing into that very thing? Perfectly inheriting any consumed entity’s abilities, even optimizing them,” Muria said with a hint of envy, “This ability is genuinely terrifying. However, a Void creature like Yingdila is an extremely rare individual. If they appeared in groups, that would be too horrifying.”
“Your Majesty, it’s impossible for such creatures to appear in groups. It doesn’t comply with the balance rule.” The Ancient Green Dragon Fiona, who was also eradicating the Void Worms and had just returned to the flagship, commented. All the while, she examined Muria, her eyes gleaming with a green light. It would be truly terrifying if Titans like him appeared in groups. Practically no entity would dare to stand in their way.
“Hmm.” Seeing the legendary warriors who’d left the ships to help eliminate the worms return one by one, Muria turned to Gladys. He needed an explanation for why he was attacked by thousands of worms the moment his fleet executed the jump, especially since she hadn’t issued any prior warning. He was completely unprepared for this assault.
“What is that look? Running into Void Worms is merely an ill stroke of luck. Now, even a fleet entering and exiting the Void hundreds of times may not necessarily encounter them.” The Seventh Princess’s Follower, Catherine, balked at Muria’s expression, her protective instincts flaring for her friend.
“Lenna, enough. Prince Muria, indeed I erred by not warns you beforehand. However, this is the first time I’ve witnessed these textbook Void Mayfly creatures.”
“Just my bad luck,” Muria shook his head at the indignant, purple-haired girl. He hadn’t said anything that should’ve incensed her. “Brief me on these Void Mayfly creatures; I’m rather curious.”
“These are low-tier Void creatures grown and multiplied by the emanating power of worlds, never strayed too far from their homeworlds.
They are attracted to various high-energy substances and seek the energy emitted by fleets. Not to attack us but to siphon energy. Aside from this power-absorbing trait, they’re practically harmless.
When our world first entered the colonization phase, such creatures nearly surrounded the World Barrier. As Void fleets began making more frequent round trips, these worms became rare entities. Some mage organizations discovered the high value of every morsel of their bones and flesh.”
“High value?” Muria’s eyes immediately grew brighter. Now deep in debt, he was extremely sensitive to words associated with money. The intense pressure the debt put on him was almost intolerable.
“Don’t even think about those Void worms. You haven’t the dedicated capture ships required to amass a substantial amount. It’s better to proceed to the Locust World as soon as possible. The proud young princess has already embarked.”
“I understand.” Muria turned around mournfully, his eyes facing forward. As his fleet moved further away from the Erathia World, he noted the Void worms were no longer pursuing his fleet. Instead, they returned atop the World Barrier to continue absorbing the power that the world was radiating.
As the fleet gradually penetrated deeper into the Void, Muria’s predilection became the reality. It was a scene of desolation without any living creature. Millions of stars were twinkling, representing the radiating light of numerous worlds, many familiar to him.
“The Boundless Heavenly Realm!” Muria looked up to glimpse a world radiating pure white, sacred light. Despite the enormous distance, he could not see its entirety. This was a significant world on par with Erathia World, but its rules were somewhat extreme.
“That is where I come from!” Muria looked back at the vast Erathia World Barrier, blocking his line of sight to the extent that he could not see the Dark Void behind it.
This was one of the epitomes in the endless Void universe. The Epics would not leave unless necessary. This is where the Dragon King willingly bore the shackle to become a Dragon God, to acquire power. Every Void Legion that started from here, took pride in it and took honor in being a creature of Erathia.
“At our current speed, in another forty-five hours, we’ll spot a Void Star Gate controlled by my Empire. Passing through it will cut a substantial amount of travel time.”
…
“I…” As soon as they emerged from the wormhole, a staggering pressure that sent tremors of dread enveloped the fleet. Just by looking at the fearful expression of the temporary navigator, Princess Gladys, Muria knew he had encountered another unexpected event that filled his chest with an overwhelming emotion.
Muria looked at the spirit light screen in front of him. Before he could make out what it was, the massive crystal screen exploded, shattering into pieces…
