Chapter 1377: Chapter 1356 Mother of All Things_2 Chapter 1377: Chapter 1356 Mother of All Things_2 “I guess three days, the number of instigators won’t exceed ten, just look at how clueless that guy looks, he didn’t even bother to dress up when entering the city.”
“Well, I bet five days, and I bet more than ten people.”
“Hmm, let’s get started then!”
After agreeing on the bet, two natives, betting their own fellow people, simultaneously headed toward a building in the city where giants reside.
“Hey, are you also here to collect food?”
“That’s right, what a coincidence that you are too.”
“No choice, we almost ran out of food at home. Well, I did some work a few days ago, earned some points, and should be able to exchange them for a half month’s food ration.”
“That should be enough, and speaking of which, who came up with the ridiculous name ‘Demon Army’? Such a benevolent ruler, I haven’t seen anything like it, not in reality nor in books. Calling them demons is simply foolish.”
“Who knows? A day’s work for two days’ food, such a good deal can only be found under the great rule of the God King. I don’t understand what those who take advantage of His Majesty’s benefits but still curse Him in secret are thinking?”
“They are idiots. Don’t bother with them, and it’s best to stay away from them. I think they’ll be dealt with sooner or later.”
“I think so too.”
“What are you pointy-eared folks up to? The quality of the food we’ve been exchanging for has been getting worse these past few days, and the portions are even smaller. Are you trying to starve us?”
While the two natives were chatting, an unpleasant voice suddenly emanated from the food distribution building ahead, making the two natives look at each other.
“Someone causing trouble?”
“Seems like it.”
“Could there really be such fools? I always thought it was just a joke, someone making fun of me.”
“I did too. Do these people even realize our current situation? Daring to provoke such powerful beings, do they think they’ve lived too long?”
“Let’s go see.”
“Let’s go.”
As the two natives entered the building where food was distributed, they immediately saw a native holding a torn bag, boldly berating a green-haired elf.
On the ground, numerous pale rice grains were scattered, and the amount increased as the native scolding the elf gestured, making many of the food-receiving natives frown.
Having experienced warfare, they knew the taste of hunger and the preciousness of food. That’s why they became even more cautious, with none stopping the excessive actions of the fellow native.
“I’m not going to repeat myself a third time. The food we distribute is exactly the same as before, no difference at all. If you continue to make unfounded accusations, I will take it as an insult to me.”
The food distributing elf’s originally programmed smile slowly faded, returning to her natural indifferent expression. This change of expression altered the atmosphere of the entire building.
“So what if I insult you? I am…”
Pshhh!
A liquid carrying a fishy smell sprayed in the air, and the provocateur, eyes widened, incredulously looked at the once gentle elf, and the longbow in her hand, with its string trembling slightly.
“You…”
Before he could state his identity, the provocateur felt a cold, chilling sensation spreading from his chest to his limbs. Darkness covered his vision, strength drained from his body, and finally, under the fearful gazes of many fellow natives, he slowly collapsed to the ground.
“Dispose of his body and hang it by the roadside, let everyone see what happens to those who provoke us without just cause.” An unexpectedly appeared Dragonkin issued a command that deeply unsettled the natives.
Fortunately, these powerful beings did not seem intent on venting their anger on them. Everything seemed almost as if nothing had changed, but the lingering smell of blood in the air reminded them that their rulers were conquerors, not the weak and incapable nobles of old.
“Did that guy have water on his brain earlier? He actually dared to provoke the Divine Army, has he forgotten how they conquered our city?”
“Perhaps he was too well-protected, which led to such self-centered idiocy.”
“Who knows? But now he’s gotten what he deserved, truly satisfying.”
“Indeed, such a harmful presence could lower our standing in the eyes of the Divine Army, it’s better that they’re gone.”
…
The recent events along with the casual conversations of passersby on the streets were all heard by a traveler, who collected intelligence information about the entire city in his own way. His lips involuntarily curled into a slight smile, and then he gradually sketched out the image of an entity in his mind.
“Kind, merciful, yet decisive when it matters, is this the young man hailed as the closest to the Elders, the new Deity’s offspring? He seems decent, a good seedling. Worth observing.”
The traveler whispered, and then his figure slowly faded away with a gentle breeze in this city, and from beginning to end, his appearance and disappearance went unnoticed.
…
“Having observed me for so long, but doing nothing? Is observation your only purpose?”
Aeolus raised his head while sitting at his desk, looking intently at the previously empty Void, speaking calmly.
“You could detect me?”
A slightly surprised voice resonated, and immediately a traveler dressed in a dark green robe appeared in the magnificent hall. Beneath the wide hood that covered his head, a pair of azure eyes twinkled. “As expected of a key observation target, my visit wasn’t in vain.”
“It seems you know my identity, so I won’t introduce myself further. What are you?”
Aeolus’s face remained expressionless, but his heart raised its guard as the being before him felt too ethereal.
“Me? I am the Eternal Spirit, the representative of the Mother of All Things. My purpose here is to select a suitable apostle for the great Mother of All Things.”
“The Mother of All Things?” Aeolus, hearing this name that evidently held great prestige, thought for a moment and then shook his head. He did not recall any information from his father about such an entity. “Never heard of it.”
“With your identity, it’s normal not to know the great Mother of All Things. It is a secret taboo known only to the most ancient deities. And your father, although quite potential, was born too late.”
“Hmm, so what are you trying to say?”
“Are you interested in joining us to become an apostle of the Mother of All Things?”
“Anyone with a normal IQ wouldn’t join an organization of unclear origins like yours.”
Aeolus responded emotionlessly, while he began to notify his father.
While single combat against powerful enemies is a Titan tradition, the proverb ‘a child of a thousand gold should not be in the marketplace’ held true a million miles away from home. Facing such a mysterious and powerful entity, it was safer to have his father handle it, being responsible for his own life safety.
“Unclear origins? That’s an interesting thought. I wonder what those deities, desperate to join us, would think if they heard such words.”
“Deities? Desperate?” Aeolus, his expression unchanged, began to probe.
“Indeed, without some tangible proof, it’s hard to gain your trust as a divine offspring. But now, even if I wanted to show, I no longer have the chance.”
With that, the traveler clad in a dark green robe gave a slight bow to Aeolus, “Then, until next time, Your Highness.”
“No need for a next time, let’s make it this one!” The majestic voice resounded through the hall, accompanied by the Golden Thunder ripping through space.
