Chapter 1365 - 1365 1349 The Undead Kings
Chapter 1365: Chapter 1349: The Undead Kings Chapter 1365: Chapter 1349: The Undead Kings “What’s going on? After all the hassle, it still comes down to battle. And here I was, hoping for a simpler way to replace this Ancient God and obtain his power.”
Seeing the crazed Ancient God inviting him to battle, Muria muttered, but he quickly resigned himself,
“It’s probably for the best, gaining power in such an honorable way puts my mind at ease somewhat.”
“Those foolhardy enough to challenge me shall witness the might of the Undead Emperor.”
Dark Death God Power surged around the ancient deity’s body, and his form began to enlarge before Muria’s eyes, as the whole world seemed to lean towards him.
In contrast, Muria felt the oppression and hostility from the entire world. He sensed the surrounding Death Qi rejecting him, and he could no longer draw sustenance from his environment.
This was the traditional method used by Divine Beings within the Divine Kingdom to counter foreign invaders, and although the old Emperor’s consciousness was muddled, using the Power of the God’s realm had become instinctual to him.
“Troublesome indeed!”
Seeing the deity in front of him now gigantic enough to be held in the palm, Muria sighed. Such divine beings had profound depths; they didn’t concern themselves with the consumption of Divine Power like lesser deities.
Yet Muria was not particularly daunted; it was merely suppression by the Divine Kingdom, and he was not without methods of resistance.
Boom!
A color unlike the dark hues of the Netherworld appeared in the sky, Golden Thunder flashed in the Sky Dome like dragon snakes roaring at the peak of the heavens, resembling a Divine Tree, only visible by its Tree Crown, spreading its branches.
The thunderous noise echoed thousands of miles, startling countless undead. The majority of the intelligent undead were terrified at the sight of this cataclysmic force, while those at the topmost layer pondered over the terrifying change in the sky.
“Dark King, do you know what’s happening?”
At the edge of the Ghost Sea, where any living creature would be eroded away, the six-armed skeletal giant wearing a Skeleton Crown asked the Legendary Undead, who was quietly gazing at the sky.
“If I knew the reason behind this, you’d be kneeling and speaking to me right now.”
The Ghost King, wrapped in a black cloak, looked at his neighbor on the Skeleton Continent with a cold tone. Their relationship wasn’t exactly good but wasn’t bad either.
Although the forces they established often clashed in wars, it was merely to eliminate the low-level undead that naturally spawned each year and to select the elites from them.
So, although they appeared antagonistic in the eyes of the lower-ranking undead, in reality, they were in cooperation, their hostility intended just to efficiently use up the cannon fodder; such was the harsh truth.
“That’s true. You’re not much stronger than me, and you wouldn’t know anything that I don’t,” nodded the six-armed skeletal king.
“I don’t know specifically, but I can make guesses based on what I know.”
The Dark King’s “gaze” lingered on the still-spreading Golden Thunder in the Sky Dome, the emotion known as fear breeding within him. He could feel the might of the countless thunders in the sky, any one of which could obliterate him,
“It’s highly possible that the legendary creator and ruler of the entire Netherworld has awakened!”
“Are you sure?”
“Otherwise, what do you think could be a reasonable explanation?”
“Uh, could it be some kind of natural phenomenon?”
“What do you think?”
Although the Dark King was merely a mass of black Qi, the Six-Armed Skeleton King felt a disdainful and contemptuous gaze, the kind one gives to a fool. This made the king furious,
“Though my guess may be foolish, do you think yours is correct? The existence mentioned in legend had entered eternal sleep long ago, how could it suddenly appear?”“Legends can only serve as references, the present reality is what truly explains everything. The most likely to correspond with the facts is indeed that legendary existence. Look, the death Qi from all over the world is converging there. Besides that being, who else possesses such power?”
“So, what should we do now?”
“Wait, all we can do is wait.”
“Just sit here doing nothing?”
“The legendary being is clearly in a battle, what you are currently seeing are the anomalies triggered by their battle. If you don’t want to wait, do you really want to get involved?”
“Let’s not, I’ll just watch.” The Skeleton King looked back at the slightly turbulent Ghost Sea, the flickering Soul Fire from the Skull Conflict. It might be naive, but it was not foolish; such a battle was clearly beyond its level, and if it were to join, it would only qualify as cannon fodder.
“You think you have a choice in this matter?” The Dark King let out a sneer.
“Why wouldn’t I have a choice?”
“The world was created by that being, and as the undead creatures spawned by the world, when that being calls, do you think you have the power to refuse?”
“This… probably not, we are so weak. Joining such a grand existence’s battle, we would have no say in determining the outcome.” Suddenly feeling out of place with his six skeletal arms, the Skeleton King became anxious, making all sorts of bizarre movements, but the Dark King did not mock his “good” neighbor.
Knowing many secret rumors, it was even more terrified of such a celestial change of this magnitude. It was already a member of the ruling class of the Netherworld, unable to advance further, so it craved a stable order to maintain its position, eternally unchanging.
But now, the legendary being that created the spirit realm had awoken, which would inevitably lead to the collapse of the existing order, and a new order would be established. The formerly exalted being, this time, would become a pawn in the hands of that grand existence, much like those lower-level undead it considered mere cannon fodder.
“One or two undead like us, of course, cannot interfere in the outcome of those existences’ battle, but what if there were ten? Or a hundred? If that’s still not enough, what about adding the undead legions we command? Is there a chance to slightly tip the scales of the battle?”
“Possibly!” The Skeleton King said in an uncertain and timid tone.
“That’s enough, as long as we can be sacrificed to gain even a slight, insignificant advantage, then we might be called at any time to join the battle.”
“Can we refuse?”
“Heh, you have granted those lower-level undead some intelligence, haven’t you? Do you think those who have ascended with our power have the possibility to resist us?”
“No.”
