Chapter 1290 - 1290 1276 Seeking Help from Other Empresses
Chapter 1290: Chapter 1276: Seeking Help from Other Empresses Chapter 1290: Chapter 1276: Seeking Help from Other Empresses “Caught you!”
Ansol ignored the swarm of billions of insects, fixing his gaze on one of the smaller members of the Insect Race. His Titan body shifted instantly, creating a passage of flesh and shattered insect exoskeletons.
“Void Overlord!”
The Insect targeted by an Epic turned its head, lined with two rows of eyes, and stared at Ansol. Far from showing any fear, it waved its eight knife-like arms, slashing towards Ansol.
The Titan, having first spotted the enemy, drew a long spear and with a casual flick, shattered the five blade lights that had swelled to kilometers in size. But the remaining slash craftily struck his arm, leaving a visible slash scar on his arm armor.
“Not bad, albeit flawed; you qualify as a worthy opponent,”
The Titan shook his arm, and the shock damage from the slash swiftly healed to its original state, and the slash scar on his armor began to disappear at a rate visible to the naked eye.
“So you’ve found the target already, huh!” Muria watched her father, whose fighting spirit was boiling over, and her gaze quickly shifted.
According to the Insect Race’s way of battle, the Insect Queens would absolutely not come to the battlefield until the moment of utmost crisis. Therefore, amidst these orderly retreating insects, there was certainly no glimpse of an Insect Queen, but there were among them top-level Battle Insects with Epic battle power.
And such Insects, to some extent, could have a meaningful impact on the world—of course, this referred to the dead ones.
“I have found mine too.”
Dimos focused on a specific spot among the retreating bugs, his eyes lit up, ready to harvest his spoils of war, but a figure was even quicker than him, rushing to the spot he had been eyeing.
The booming Golden Thunder that made the Void tremble cleared out all the bugs that helped to conceal his target. Then the thunder converged and wrapped around a battle axe with an intimidating aura, chopping down on an angrily glaring Insect.
“Akmonde, I saw it first,” the Dragon King roared annoyedly, seeing his target stolen by the Titan. “How could you be so shameless?”
“I made the first move, so naturally, it’s my prey. What does seeing it first count for?”
Swinging the battle axe that had drunk the blood of the gods, the Titan slashed left and right, its opponent from the Insect Race did not dare to test how sharp the edge of that battle axe was with its body.
“Go find another prey!”
“Damn it!” Dimos cursed in anger, but did not engage in conflict with Akmonde because of this.
The current situation was clearly in their favor; it was time for them to actively harvest the insects and reap the benefits. The Epic-level Battle Insects were naturally the highly sought-after and scarce prey.
But alas, there was too little to go around for too many. Therefore, as Dimos looked around, he could no longer find any insects worth his effort.
“Dad, you’re too slow!” As Dimos fumed, the Golden Dragon Mother came up to him, “The valuable targets have all been snatched by those Titans.”
“Yes! The Titans are too fast.”
“But no matter, these are merely appetizers before the main course! The real value, these Titans haven’t discovered yet.”
“What else is valuable?” the Dragon King barely finished his question when he realized from the swarming tide of bugs, “The controllers behind these insects?”
“Exactly, compared to these combat weapons crafted by the Insect Queens, the queens themselves hold more value, right?” the Golden Dragon Mother said with a smile.
“The true forms of these Insect Queens aren’t here. Can you find them?”
“These insects are the clues to finding their true bodies. If you and Muria help me, there’s a good chance we can successfully find them.”
…
“It seems these overlords don’t intend to let things end this way,” a whispered murmur echoed in the silent Void, “They are searching for us. It seems our retreat does not satisfy them; they want battle results that are sufficient to deter the outside world.”
“Unwise fools. Since when have we insects been so easily frightened? It seems they want war; if so, then let’s give them war,” a voice filled with anger declared.
“Go notify the other queens and ask for their help. It’s better to bow down to our own kind than to endure humiliation in the face of external enemies.”
“Ahta, think this through carefully. Once a war starts, we won’t be able to control how it escalates, and by then, you and I may face losses we’re truly unwilling to confront.”
“So what? Are you saying that we, the queens of the Insect Race, should tolerate the humiliation of being hunted? Has our clan become so weak and decayed?”
“Ahta is right. Our Insect Race has not decayed to such an extent, nor do we need to endure such humiliation.”
“Dream Palace, what do you think?”
“It’s for you to decide.” The Dream Palace Empress stayed in her own Insect Nest with an extremely complex mind.
Once the war broke out, as the catalyst for the conflict, she would bear an inescapable responsibility. If the war ended in victory, that would be manageable, but if the war was lost, she would bear the rage of all the participating queens. She couldn’t even begin to predict the magnitude of that fury.
And according to the information known at present, the chances of winning this war were far too slight compared to the chances of failure. Besides, even if they won, it would likely be a pyrrhic victory with no benefits, a result which, to her, would be no different from defeat.
But now, she couldn’t possibly advise her kin to give up resistance because of this grim potential future. No matter how dire the future might be, as long as she remained alive, there was still a possibility for atonement.
“Dream Palace, since you’ve surrendered your choice, we will make the decision.”
“Hmm!” Dream Palace responded with a hum before quietly watching her three sisters conclude the discussion to seek aid from other Insect Race queens, watching as the prelude to an uncertain war unfolded.
…
“My daughter, you really have quite the knack,” a voice said.In the dark Void, three beings as brilliant as the sun twisted space-time, stepping forth to gaze at the nearby star radiating blue light, the strongest among them exclaimed earnestly.
“So this is the Insect Race’s Nest, huh? It seems quite ordinary, nothing special about it.”
Muria eyed the star with its planetary rings nearby, showing almost no emotional fluctuation, which was exactly as he had imagined.
He found that many Epics liked to create their own oversized, planet-level fortresses, then use them to drift through the Void with their legions aboard.
According to his speculation, most of these seemingly imposing Epics were the type with insufficient heritage. Truly powerful Epics could take all their legions along in worlds they controlled.
Of course, this wasn’t an absolute rule. There might be those who were both powerful and liked to show off; however, logically speaking, such beings shouldn’t exist, given that Epics as a group can’t be fools.
“Such a massive animated nest is impressive enough. What more do you want?” Golden Dragon Mother rolled her eyes at Muria’s comment.
“I don’t want anything specific. I’m just surprised that the enemy isn’t as strong as I had imagined.”
“Tsk, true to the seed of myself and Ansol. If so, you should go and handle it then, while your grandfather and I watch from here.”
“Cough, I was just joking. In such matters, it’s better for everyone to take action together; it’s more prudent.”
Muria chuckled awkwardly. Although he wasn’t opposed to Titans preferring duels, using strong opponents to hone their own skills, having him adhere to such a concept when they clearly had a huge advantage was something he couldn’t do.
A duel was something you did when you had no choice. If possible, Muria preferred to take out the opponent in a group fight cleanly and decisively, leaving no chance for a comeback.
“Muria, that’s not very Titan-like of you. What you should be doing now is donning your battle armor, taking up your weapon, and eagerly bursting that insect nest wide open, and in our moment of distraction, dragging out the queen inside.”
“Mother, stop joking. This Insect Queen is no ordinary one,” Muria waved dismissively, eyeing the Nest Planet nearby, which was already emitting radiant light. That light was the materialization of mental power.
It was substantial mental power enveloping the entire planet, which, by conversion, could cover a medium-sized world and shatter the minds of all its creatures.
The Insect Queen they had now found, judging solely from her current display, possessed the terrifying destructive power to annihilate a world in a thought. Muria admitted to himself that he could not do the same.
In a simple comparison of mental power, Muria was willing to concede. But that’s all it was. Converting such vast mental power into fighting power capable of influencing an Epic wasn’t easy, and in any case, Muria was not afraid.
“Arrogant overlords, to what extent do you plan on stopping?”
The Dream Palace Empress, who had not anticipated at all being traced back to her Nest location, was momentarily stunned upon seeing Muria and the others’ appearance but quickly gathered her thoughts.
“Arrogance? Who exactly is being arrogant? Who gave you the right to encroach and wreak havoc in the worlds of others without restraint?” Muria, seeing that neither Golden Dragon Mother nor Dragon King grandfather seemed inclined to step forward, took it upon himself to negotiate with the Epic-level Insect Queen.
