Chapter 1220 - 1220 1207 Searching for Relatives
Chapter 1220: Chapter 1207: Searching for Relatives Chapter 1220: Chapter 1207: Searching for Relatives The avatar formed by the condensation of Divine Power burst open in the sky after being pierced by the beastly Deity, creating rings of golden Divine Power ripples.
“Don’t say you’re looking for me, I’m looking for you too. Let’s see who finds who first,” Muria said with a disdainful smile as she looked at the remnants dispersing in the sky.
In Erathia, soon after the Divine Beings made their appearance, the legend of Mortals killing gods began to circulate and persisted despite attempts to suppress it because there had indeed been Mortals who managed to slay gods.
Although such an event seemed unbelievable, happening only under a combination of fortuitous circumstances, it had indeed occurred. And it was something that all those who aspired to godhood longed for.
Because for a Mortal to slay a Deity, the Deity must also be in a very special Form; normally, even if a Divine Being stood still and allowed a Mortal to hack at them with a Divine Artifact, they would not fall.
But now, with the strength of Muria’s Reincarnated Body and wielding a Divine Artifact, she could definitely threaten a Divine Being. Not to mention that her original self could also take action at a crucial moment. In other words, she had the power to defeat a Deity and cause their downfall.
Looking at the Space Rift in the sky that was gradually healing, Jiuli, who had watched the brief battle from the side, said respectfully to the dragon whose form was markedly different from before and whose presence felt oppressively suffocating,
“Teacher, he won’t come again, will he?”
“No, he’s too far away now. He won’t make a move. Even that fool understands that to strike against me is just a waste of strength,” the Teacher replied.
The Giant Dragon, whose wings were like those of a Giant Peng and whose form was slender, circled once in the sky before transforming into a sculpture-like boy with black hair and golden pupils. He reached out his hand and summoned the Star Cloud Chain, which had completely erased the will of the demigod, into his hand.
Then, under the stunned gaze of his students, who had not yet encountered many Extraordinary beings, he made a gentle grabbing motion towards the demigod’s soul. The enormous Divine Soul fell into his hand and quickly collapsed and condensed, turning into a Radiant golden pearl.
Within the golden pearl, which was no bigger than a baby’s Fist, divine light shone brightly, and the shadow of a noble Golden Roc spreading its wings and crying could be faintly discerned.
However, Muria looked at the shadow of the Golden Roc inside the golden pearl and lightly touched it; a Flying dragon, identical to her current true form, appeared within the golden pearl, attacking the Golden Roc.
At first, the Golden Roc could hold its own against the Flying dragon, but gradually it faltered and showed signs of defeat. It was then torn apart and devoured, bite by bite, by the Flying dragon, which eventually occupied the golden pearl.
“Is this all? It seems this Deity wasn’t as strong as I imagined,” Muria said with a smile on her lips. She then turned her head to look at Jiuli, who was eagerly anticipating beside her, and pointed to the demigod’s corpse,
“Do you have a way to make use of it?”
“Yes,” the earnest Earth God answered without hesitation. Having witnessed the might of a demigod, he was even more eager for powerful strength, hoping that if such an incident were to happen again, he could protect his home with his own might.
“Hmm, this corpse is still too big for you; I’ll help you process it a bit,” Muria said, then pointed at the demigod’s corpse. Flames ignited upon it, and the corpse, large as a mountain, quickly collapsed within the flames. Muria burned away all the impurities she deemed useless to Jiuli, leaving nothing but ash.
So, under Jiuli’s painfully watchful eye, the remains of demigod Giovanni were refined by the flames into a black and grey irregular crystal only about ten Meters tall, within which pulsed a captivating power.
He knew, of course, that his Teacher was extracting the essence and discarding the dross, but what his Teacher saw as dross was not so to him.
“There you go. Now, do with it as you will, just don’t absorb too much at once and burst,” Muria said, then teleported next to the Golden Giant and patted his head, “And now it’s time to part ways.”
“Teacher, are you leaving me?”
“Yes.”
“Did I do something wrong?” Jiuli’s expression showed a hint of reluctance. Although it had only been a few days, he had already appreciated the benefits of having a teacher.
Not to mention anything else, where could he find something as divine as this crystal brimming with tremendous power on his own? He could only rely on his teacher.
“Oh, you haven’t done anything wrong. Of course, you haven’t done anything particularly outstanding either. I just have some things to take care of and need to leave for a while. Don’t worry. I’ll be back after some time,” Muria reassured him with a smile. Although their time together was brief, she had already noticed something off about this young man — he was not simple.
Firstly, his hometown, that area in the Clustered Big World that was part of the Void at various different locations, had begun to connect with his hometown at its core.
With such unique geographical advantages, it was inevitable that in a short time, some extraordinary beings would emerge, and it would not be surprising if there were several or even dozens of protagonists like those in novels.
So it is said that circumstances create heroes, and such was the case. The student he had forcefully taken on was highly likely to be the hero chosen by the Great World Will, born of Destiny, who could grow to the realm of a deity within a short span and possess the power to clear away the obstacles of other races.
By establishing a relationship with them early on, he reasoned that even those who emerged in response to destiny had their own will and judgment. Essentially, they might be influenced by the world, but they were not controlled by the Great World Will.
“Hmm,” Jiuli nodded in silence. With his Teacher having said this much, there was naturally little for him to add; he had no suitable reason to persuade his Teacher to stay.
“When will you be returning?”
“I can’t be certain of that. But I should be returning once in the short term—I’ve promised to help you deduce your incomplete practice method. As your Teacher, that’s one thing I’ll ensure,” Muria said, stroking his chin thoughtfully before he replied. He planned to go in search of his own kind, especially his wife, and his parents. Heaven only knows what they might have encountered while yet unaware.
So, to prevent some unpleasant misfortunes, he must depart as quickly as possible to find his relatives.
“I’m not in a hurry about that. If it really comes down to it, I can return to my father’s birthplace and look for other methods to practice.”
“It seems you have a story of your own!” Muria chuckled after noticing the disgust and hatred flickering in the Giant’s eyes when he mentioned his father. However, he made no move to inquire further.
Everyone carries a past they do not wish to have brought up; since one doesn’t wish to speak of it, it ought not to be touched—this is the greatest respect one can afford another.
“Just some old, stale matters,” the young man said with a smile at the mention of his father, recalling certain memories that were tough to revisit.
“Fine, I’m not interested in what happened to you in the past. I only hope that in the future you will live up to my name, that you do not disgrace me. You’re my first student, after all,” Muria said with a smile. As he spoke, his figure gradually faded from the young man’s sight until it disappeared entirely,
“I’m leaving now. I hope that when we meet again, you could give me a pleasant surprise.”
…
“Areina, I heard you splashed Baron Gomez Farias’ face with wine at the banquet. How many powerful nobles have you humiliated now?”
The words, laced with schadenfreude as well as a hint of unnoticed admiration, rang in the ear of a golden-haired maiden in the flower of her youth.
“Who knows? I’ve lost count of how many powerless wastes have fancied pursuing me.”
The girl, dressed very differently from a typical woman, answered nonchalantly as if she hadn’t noticed the sting in her sister’s words.
“Admittedly, a baron pursuing a member of the Frankel Family indeed seems overconfident. Yet, this Baron Gomez Farias is no ordinary noble; he’s one whose fiefdom rights were promoted based on military merits.
To him, the title of Baron is but the beginning. He is expected to ascend to higher ranks, and even Father has praised him, believing that his prospects are great and won’t be limited to a baronet.”
“What has that got to do with me? If you think he’s so great, you might as well marry him,” said the girl, equally garbed in a dress but adorned with small silver-metallic plates that could serve at the frontlines, as she spoke indifferently.
“My dear sister, have you forgotten? I’m already betrothed to a count from the Pedro Family. No matter how outstanding other men might be, they hold no relevance to me,” the woman said with the laughter of a mature lady, her voice sultry and beguiling.
“Go fool someone else with that nonsense!” Areina, sitting on a marble windowsill, scoffed. “You think I’m unaware of all the nobles you’ve seduced? I don’t even want to begin with your scandals.”
“You…” The noblewoman, who had come especially to gloat over her cousin’s folly, flushed with indignation,
“Areina, you won’t be smug for long. You’ve reached marriageable age; no matter how much you resist, you must enter into a marriage alliance with a noble.
You can afford to be choosy now, but once your uncle grows impatient, you’ll no longer have a choice. As your elder, I advise you to make a decision sooner rather than later; otherwise, you mightn’t even get the chance to regret it.”
“No one can force me to do something I don’t want to do, not even my own father,” declared the girl in light armor, rising to her feet with a clatter of her armor. Sunlight pierced through the coloured glaze window behind her, bathing her in light, making her appear resplendent,
“My destiny is mine to control, my partner is mine to choose, all decided by my own will.”
