Chapter 1117 - 1117 1104 Where Did Daddy Go
Chapter 1117: Chapter 1104: Where Did Daddy Go? Chapter 1117: Chapter 1104: Where Did Daddy Go? “Enough with the nonsense, what kind of tree grows on a grave!” Muria scoffed, devoid of any kingly majesty as he sat down next to Abigail. He chuckled and gently patted his son’s head upon hearing the self-deprecating, disheartening remark.
“Because you’re the strongest being in the world, lifespan can no longer limit you, but I will eventually die one day,” Abigail said, touching on the subject of death with astounding equanimity.
Apart from a few exceptions, most creatures were destined to die at some point in the future—it was an inevitable fact. Even those who claimed to be immortal would face their end one day; it’s just that mortal things could not see it.
“That’s right, in this world, I am the strongest, but you are my son; you have the same blood running through your veins as I do. You can achieve what I have, and you also have the potential to surpass me.”
“Can I become as strong as you?”
“Of course, as long as you’re willing to diligently cultivate, you’ll eventually become as strong as I am—that’s a destined fact,” Muria said with absolute certainty.
“How hard do I need to work?” Abigail’s interest piqued, becoming stronger was the innate pursuit of every creature. Even the extraordinary Abigail had this desire, though his pursuit was far less driven than that of someone born in the lower echelons.
Ordinary people sought power mainly for a better life, a more suitable spouse, or more rights. But Abigail had all these from birth, so his only motivation for seeking power was for fun or the competitive spirit of having what others did not.
“Just set aside some time every day for cultivation. With your talent far surpassing mine when I was younger, as long as you persist, you will grow stronger at an astonishing rate.”
“Every day?” Abigail’s face suddenly changed.
“Cultivation is a process of accumulation; one must carve out a fixed time each day for practice.”
“I’d rather sleep than that,” Abigail shook his head. To him, cultivation was a tedious chore. The occasional practice was fine, but the idea of doing it every single day seemed like torment to him.
Born atop the hierarchy of the world, Abigail felt no sense of urgency, for he was unaware of the existence of the Void. In his eyes, the world was the world, and whatever lay beyond it, he never pondered.
In his world view, his parents were the mightiest in the world, and he was born atop the tower of power. He had no motivation to strive or struggle, as there was nothing more to gain from his efforts.
He could live a life of hedonistic indulgence, enjoying the finest resources the world had to offer.
“Sleep? Your time should not be wasted in such a way. As my son, you have responsibilities you must bear.” Hearing his son’s response made Muria realize that perhaps he had been too lenient in his upbringing.
When it came to the upbringing of his offspring, Muria generally took a hands-off approach, not interfering much with their choices, merely pointing them in a direction at the outset.
The child he had influenced the most was his eldest, Aeolus; he had nearly controlled all aspects of Aeolus’s development. However, once Aeolus broke through the legendary threshold, Muria immediately let go, never interfering again, allowing him to develop independently.
But Muria now observed that he had perhaps let go of Abigail a bit too much, to the point where the boy had become self-indulgent and still lacked a daily practice routine.
“Don’t I have you? What do I need to do if you’re here?” Abigail replied nonchalantly.
“Me?” Muria paused, then realized why Abigail had become so complacent; the root of the problem lay with him.
“I’ve told you, I won’t always be here. There will come a day when everything will be up to you to shoulder. When that time comes, you will have to bear it all, whether you are up to it or not.”
“Father, what are you planning to do?” Abigail could sense something amiss by now, as this was the second time today his father had mentioned leaving.
“I’m leaving,” Muria said with an inscrutable smile as he gazed at the black-haired youth.
“Leaving? To where?” Panic flashed across the boy’s face, stunned by the abrupt news he wasn’t prepared to receive.
“Train well! When I leave, I hope you can bear all that I leave behind,” Muria didn’t answer his son’s question. His form shone under the blazing sunlight and turned to vapor, rising upward.
“Father, where are you going?” Desperate for a clear answer, Abigail rushed into the palace behind him, demanding clarity.
But soon enough, he would be faced with a harrowing reality; no matter how many people he asked, no matter how many halls he searched, he could never find his father again.
Given his father’s formidable strength, if his father chose to be unseen, Abigail helplessly had to accept that fact.
“Mother.” However, it didn’t take long for Abigail to think of another excellent candidate for inquiry, Michaela. But he could not find her either, no matter how he searched.
This was a despairing and helpless truth to face; he knew his parents were within the palace, yet he couldn’t find them.
…
“You’ve been neglecting things for years, and now that you’ve noticed a problem, a few words are all it took to agitate him to this extent. You really are insufferable,”
In a palace, Michaela glanced at Muria after looking through the water mirror at Abigail, who was crashing around like a fly in various palaces.
“It’s not that I’m insufferable. I’m putting some pressure on him. How can he become a King in his current state? I have indeed been too lenient with him,” Muria explained.
“Isn’t this too cruel for him?” Michaela softened a bit as she watched the heartbroken Abigail in the water mirror, his eyes even starting to swell with redness. After all, he was her son.
“There’s nothing cruel about it. If he continues to take the throne in this careless manner, that would be the true cruelty to the nation and its citizens.”
…
At just over ten years old, what would you do if you suddenly learned that your parents will leave you someday in the future? Nobody else knew, but Abigail felt like he was going insane.
He simply couldn’t accept this reality. He wanted to ask Muria, but he could never manage to find him.
Because of his conversation with Muria, Abigail unconsciously started pouring his efforts into training, realizing that only by becoming stronger could he hope to see his father.
Under sufficient pressure, Abigail committed to daily cultivation. With the world’s top cultivation talent and resources at his disposal, his progress was rapid beyond what ordinary people could comprehend.
As he grew stronger through cultivation, Abigail found things were indeed as he thought. With each awakening, he was able to meet his father, but that was all.
Each meeting ended with regret; he couldn’t decide the duration of their encounters. He could only be sure of one thing, that one day in the future, his parents would abandon him and leave.
Why would they leave? Where would they go after leaving? What would they do? He had no idea about any of these questions because whenever he asked, his father would just respond with a smile.
“I must find out everything,” Abigail thought, determined to train harder. He was fed up with each conversation being abruptly terminated by his father’s overwhelming power.
Abigail realized that the only way to prevent this from happening was his own strength. Once he was powerful enough, his father wouldn’t be able to discard him so easily.
…
“Hahaha!” With a joyous laugh, red flames swept into the high sky from within a grand palace, turning half the sky into a sea of fire.
But the sea of fire dissipated quickly, and a furious wind swept in from all directions. A massive, visible hurricane formed over the palace, causing the servants inside to cry out in alarm.
Soon, the hurricane collapsed, and the earth began to tremble… One majestic phenomenon after another appeared over the capital of the Blazing Sky Empire, astonishing onlookers and stirring up waves across the world.
This was the center of the world. No matter how slight the change might be, once it spread, it could turn into a massive storm far away.
Abigail didn’t care what changes his breakthrough might cause in the world. Only one thing occupied his mind,
“Father, this time we can finally have a proper talk. I refuse to believe that after ten awakenings, you can cast me out just like last time,”
The excited young man burst eagerly into his parents’ sleeping chamber, but the empty palace left him stunned, and the smile gradually faded from his face, replaced by a growing silence.
“Where is everyone?”
Abigail asked, looking around the deserted palace with a hint of despondency. He remembered that after each awakening, he used to find his parents there.
“Father, I’ve broken through. Come out!”
Seized by a feeling of emptiness that grew within him, the young man who had feared this day was now shouting in near collapse. The event he had been concerned about had finally happened, at this moment, today.
“Why won’t you come to see me?”
Abigail rushed out of the palace and flew into the sky, his powerful mental power sweeping across the entire capital city…
