Chapter 1107 - 1107 1094 You are courting death
Chapter 1107: Chapter 1094: You are courting death! Chapter 1107: Chapter 1094: You are courting death! Kill!
Armored soldiers clad in black and draped in crimson cloaks surged across the land like a tide, clearing all obstacles in their path, the only difference being the time it took to clear them.
High above in the sky, soldiers clad in white armor and adorned with wings flew by, providing long-range attack support to the troops on the ground. Occasionally, some soldiers would descend to the ground to fight alongside the black-armored soldiers.
Facing such an onslaught, the defending side undeniably felt utter despair. From the highest to the lowest ranks, there was nothing but dread, but even the lowliest of soldiers knew well that they could not surrender to this army they were battling.
Military Merit Conferment System. This system implemented within the army of the Blazing Sky Empire, a new nation formed from the merger of the powerful Gai Nation and Guangyao Kingdom, was now known to the surrounding countries.
Because of this system, the soldiers of the Blazing Sky Empire had all become bloodthirsty ferocious beasts, reveling in slaughter. Even the soldiers from the former Guangyao Kingdom were no different; before the immense benefits that could be obtained through military achievements, no soldier could remain indifferent.
And military achievements were their decapitated heads—the enemy faced a group of soldiers who wanted to chop off their heads to use as stepping stones. An army that practiced the Military Merit Conferment System had no one, top to bottom, with any interest in taking prisoners; they did not need them.
On the ground, the battlefield was filled with the sounds of fierce combat, corpses strewn everywhere, and the bloody smell soared to the sky, tinting the floating clouds a faint red.
However, as the war progressed, the clouds in the sky gradually dissipated due to the high temperatures emitted by a towering presence higher up in the sky dome.
“Why not just surrender to me? Why struggle in vain? Do you really think there’s still a chance to win?”
Now transformed into Yama, Muria stretched his fierce and majestic form, looking at the giant beast that ruled over the furious wind across the sky.
It was a giant beast primarily azure in color, resembling a lion or a tiger with a pair of horns on its head and a set of translucent wings, constructed of wind, amidst its ribs.
To gaze upon this beast was to see the avatar of the wind. Indeed, it was so; the beast was like the sovereign of the world’s wind, capable of causing a storm with a mere breath or a gesture.
But unfortunately for it, it faced Muria, a super-hybrid born with power over the wind, whose understanding and control of it was not in the same league.
Greedy King of Yama, you’ve destroyed one kingdom after another. When will your desire be satisfied?”
Staring at the great Yama lord across from him, who seemed an incarnation of flames and had been completely suppressed in the recent battle, the wind’s giant beast roared angrily.
“Desire? I have none,” said Muria, who didn’t quite resemble the true Yama, shaking his head.
“Then why wage war? I have never provoked you, not during the era of Gai Nation nor Guangyao Kingdom; my kingdom has never had any conflict with yours.” The Wind Chime King, transformed into the wind’s giant beast, roared desperately, his voice like a storm’s howl.
This king felt unjustly treated at the moment; he didn’t think he had done anything wrong, yet the Blazing Sky Kingdom declared war on his nation, giving no time to prepare before their army pressed in a vast offensive.
“At this point, why even probe further?” Muria felt the increasingly restless power within his body and laughed lightly. Even now, the king in front of him pretended ignorance, still harboring a glimmer of hopeful denial. “Don’t you feel an urge to devour me?”
Upon hearing Muria’s words, the wind’s giant beast stiffened slightly, remaining silent because, as Muria pointed out, the desire to devour Muria had surged within it from the moment it laid eyes on him. It knew why this was happening.
“So you’re collecting the power of the legendary Seven Calamities Demon Gods. But do you realize that the more of the Demon God’s power you gather, the closer you come to death?”
“I didn’t actually know that; it’s the first I’ve heard,” Muria suddenly became interested. This was the kind of information he needed; it could be somewhat useful to him.
“How have you reached this point without knowing anything?” The wind’s giant beast was somewhat astonished, but then it came to a realization, “The ignorant are fearless, and only someone like you, unaware of much yet wielding great power, would dare to collect the power of the Demon Gods.”
“What, collecting the power of the Seven Calamities Demon Gods? Are there a lot of taboos?” Muria asked excitedly. The so-called Seven Calamities Demon Gods were clearly epic names infusing into the framework of this world, or perhaps the indigenous terms used in this world to refer to them.
“I just told you, gathering the power of the Demon Gods is tantamount to touching death. Once the power of the Demon Gods you’ve collected reaches a certain threshold, the will of the Demon God will resurrect within your body, and then your will shall be erased by the Demon God, and your body will become a vessel for its resurrection.”
“Is that all?” Muria felt somewhat disappointed; this wasn’t the information he wanted. Gathering Demon God power leading to its revival was something he could figure out with his toes.
He knew better than any other being in this world what special characteristics lay within the Body of the Myriad Spirits of the epics. He was prepared for the master’s will to awaken after he gathered its power, ready to face the confrontation.
And according to Muria’s estimation, he had a pretty good chance of winning. Even as a newly ascended epic, he was still an epic, confronting a powerless epic. In that case, what was there to fear?
“You…” Seeing Muria’s indifferent expression, the Giant Beast of Wind was somewhat baffled. It was sure that the reason Muria had attacked its nation was to seize its power.
If it could dispel Muria’s intention to take its power, then this crisis of national extinction could be resolved, and it could also save its own life.
“Aren’t you afraid?” it asked.
“What is there to fear from the will of a dead man?” Muria sneered.
“King of Yama, you are too arrogant. Do you think you’re the only one who wants to gather the powers of the Seven Demon Calamities? Before you, there have been many exceptionally talented kings who wanted to do the same as you, but without exception, they all failed. To this date, not a single person has successfully attained the complete Divine Power.”
“Oh!” Muria remained indifferent.
Seeing that it couldn’t intimidate Muria, the Wind Chime King gritted his teeth and decided to reveal more information, “If you’re adamant about gathering the powers of the Seven Demon Calamities, the obstacles you will face will exceed your imagination. Do you think you only need to worry about the will of the demons awakening?”
“What else is there?” Muria asked casually. Around him, several chains formed of Flames danced about, dispersing the Wind that tried to touch his body.
“You must also be prepared to be besieged by those of us who hold Divine Power. Do you think we will sit still and wait for death, allowing an ambitious person like you to slaughter us?”
“A siege? Even better, it saves me the trouble of looking for you,” Muria replied, even less concerned upon hearing about the risk. After all, he had never been afraid of fighting anyone.
“You are seeking your own death!”
“Don’t you have anything else to say?” Muria was somewhat disappointed; this was not meeting his needs.
“I don’t know about other things, but if you refuse to surrender today, you will surely die.” Muria’s massive Yama body moved, and this exerted a tremendous pressure on the Wind Chime King, who started to unconsciously retreat.
“What’s the use of my surrender? You’re going to devour my power anyway,” the Wind Chime King roared, feeling extremely frustrated.
When he first became aware of Muria’s existence, he too had wanted to turn the impulses coursing through his body into reality, the temptation of exponentially growing power, even with his Identity, was irresistible.
But in the subsequent battle, he got beat up by Muria to the point of doubting his life because he couldn’t clear up one thing—who really was the master of Wind, and how did this king, enveloped in Flames, understand Wind better than him?
So he completely erased that slight delusion from his mind and started to think about how to save his own life, but he found that no matter what he did, it seemed he would be killed by the guy opposite him.
“Hmm?” Muria, noticing the wavering will of this king, stopped in his tracks. If he could avoid fighting, he would; after all, Muria did love peace. Of course, the main thing was that bullying the weak wasn’t much fun.
“Your power I will naturally take away, but I can spare your life. And if you surrender, the war below can stop right now.”
“Is a king without power still a king?” the Giant Beast of Wind laughed wildly. In this chaotic world, the power of each king entirely came from the mighty force they wielded.
Clang!
Before the Wind Chime King finished laughing, a blazing Sword flare, seemingly capable of turning the entire Sky Dome into a sea of fire, arrived thunderously, threatening to split his body in two.
“Swallowing me won’t be so easy.”
Roar!
Surrounded by swirling Wind, the Giant Beast roared. The winds in the Sky Dome surged with its roar, extinguishing the Flames scattered throughout the sky.
But the Flames were extinguished far slower than they spread, and the Sword flare Muria had cast, which turned the entire sky into a sea of fire, eventually struck the Giant Beast of Wind, and its translucent Blood sprayed all over the sky.
“I cannot accept this!”
Felled from the sky by that Sword strike, the Wind Chime King’s eyes were filled with frustration. He had tried many times to dodge, but all in vain, for all his moves were anticipated by Muria. The feeling of being completely seen through was unbearable.
