Chapter 1054 - 1054 1041 Go Become the Light
Chapter 1054: Chapter 1041: Go Become the Light Chapter 1054: Chapter 1041: Go Become the Light “Is this a place a father should come to? His child must really be suffering.”
An old man dressed in a neat and formal butler’s outfit looked at the brightly lit storefront before him, listening to the faint music and shouts coming from inside, and watching the men and women who entered but never left. He shook his head.
Following that, the old man walked over, and the doorman stationed at the door, who noticed this distinctly different elder, was just about to stop him. However, in the next moment, his expression changed.
He saw a barely noticeable badge on the collar of the old man’s outfit, one of the four types of badges that anyone living within the Federation would recognize. Thus, the doorman very sensibly stepped aside and even signaled to his colleague with a meaningful glance.
“Don’t be nervous. I am here to find a worthless member of our clan. It has nothing to do with your establishment.”
Seeing this scene, the old man smiled and patted the somewhat clever doorman in front of him, and the other doorman who had received the glance also stopped in his tracks.
After this small interlude, the old man entered the bar. Just after stepping through the main entrance, a deafening wave of music, along with the exhaustive shouting and hollering of men and women, reached the old man’s ears.
Looking at the colorful lights and the scene on the dance floor that resembled a rampage of demons, the old man slightly furrowed his brows and began to search for his target in the bar.
It didn’t take long before he found a young man on the dance floor, crazily twisting his body while embracing a bombshell of a woman.
Seeing this, the old man’s frown deepened, so he walked up and grabbed the young man who was reveling to his heart’s content. Before the youth could react, he was dragged forcefully away from the dance floor.
“What the hell…” The young man, finding himself being forcibly dragged away, turned around and was about to start cursing. But when he clearly saw the old man’s outfit, his expression suddenly changed.
“The clan’s butler?” the young man asked cautiously as the old man threw him onto a seat.
“Indeed. You haven’t drunk yourself to the point of not recognizing people, which saves me the trouble of having to sober you up.”
“Did you, old man, come here to find me for something?” asked the young man who had been loafing around the bar, cautiously because he couldn’t figure out why a butler would come looking for a good-for-nothing like him.
“You have an infant child, don’t you? At this time, instead of staying at home to take care of the child, you run off to a place like this to mess around. Do you think that’s appropriate?”
“Well… you don’t know how annoying that child can be. I was so bothered by the noise, I just needed to relax a bit,” explained the young man with a sheepish laugh, conceding that his behavior was certainly not decent.
“Alright, our clan is currently implementing a policy. Your situation perfectly fits the criteria. You have no qualification to be a father in our clan’s assessment. I am here to notify you
that your child will be taken by the clan to be raised. As a father, you hold the right to check on and communicate with your child at any time, but you will have no further rights to interfere with your child’s education and upbringing.”
“The clan is taking my child to raise them? That’s great,” exclaimed the young man, who was already slightly inebriated, suddenly shouting with excitement.
“Don’t you feel any reluctance at all?” asked the butler, frowning as he saw the youth’s reaction.
He remembered that when informing those unqualified parents, many of them were reluctant and even begged for half a day. This was the first time he had seen someone react like the young man did.
“Heh heh, as you saw from my actions just now, I am a lousy person. If my child is raised by me, they are likely to end up no better than me. Thus, it’s better for the clan to take care of them,” said the young man.
“At least you have some self-awareness,” the butler said, laughing helplessly. This was a rotten person who was quite aware of his flaws.
…
“Your Excellency, since the clan’s pilot program was implemented, we have fostered 117 children amongst our official and peripheral clan members.”
“We have secured the best teachers, nutritionists, and psychologists for these children, providing them with the best conditions to grow up healthy and happy without their parents around.”
“Very good,” Muria expressed great satisfaction with the updates from these elders, “continue this policy. Let those clan members who are willing to entrust their children to us see what kind of excellent individuals can emerge under the clan’s guidance.”
…
Roar!
A massive beast roared mightily within the city, its voice visibly rumbling, shattering the surrounding building glass, and revealing its majesty and ferocity as a top-tier predator.
Amid the giant beast, cries and howls of fear were everywhere from men and women, for the monster’s appearance was shockingly sudden, leaving many unprepared.
This beast, with blue and yellow carapace on its limbs, chest, and back and sporadic yellow fur on its body, paid no mind to the tiny creatures beneath its feet.
In its eyes, these small bipeds didn’t even qualify to be stuck in its teeth cracks, it was merely trying to understand what exactly had just happened.
It wondered why it had suddenly emerged from the vibrant jungle into this city filled with small bipeds encased in steel.
Feeling bewildered, the Beast King, failing to understand what had happened, immediately fell into a rage, thus the neighboring buildings became his outlet, extensively damaging them.
However, not long after the beast began its destruction, the city’s Defense and Guarding Army had already arrived, and a Star Armor Master, seeing the gargantuan monster in front of him, operated his External Armament and opened fire.
However, the Native species, which had suddenly appeared here, was no herbivore either. A crystal on its head emitted a hazy light, then a bright yellow spherical energy shield expanded, enveloping its entire body.
But though the fierce artillery barrage struck the bright yellow shield, causing it to flicker and seem on the verge of collapsing, the city’s defense force couldn’t break through it.
Seeing this, some of the valiant Star Armor Masters even pulled out their close-combat Star armor, rushed to the front of the giant beast, aiming to slay it through close combat.
“Another monster appearing suddenly, could it really be as the rumors say? We’ve abandoned our original deity’s faith, so a deity sent a messenger to punish us.”
Repeated charges not only failed to achieve effective results but also resulted in heavy casualties among the security headquarters, a young militar officer’s eyes were filled with panic.
Events like these had started appearing continuously in the city ever since the faith of the Star Goddess spread like a virus within the church’s territory.
“Hmph, so they send messengers to destroy us because we don’t believe? Is a deity that does such things truly worthy of being called a deity? It’s nothing but a demon.”
The commanding officer, hearing his subordinates becoming demoralized, snorted disdainfully and said, “Moreover, what kind of divine messenger is this? It’s merely a somewhat powerful Native species.”
…
Within a crumbling building filled with cries, screams, and calls for help, as this building was just struck by a tail from the Lord-level Native species passing by, people inside were desperately trying to flee.
But now, in the tilting building, it was impossible to use the rapid descent passages, and jumping from such a high floor was equally fatal.
“To stop the spread of my faith, they can even think of using such a method. These people must be out of options, right? It’s stupid enough to be laughable.”
At that moment, the city’s tragic scene was reflected in the golden eyes of an elegant and intellectual older woman, who smiled serenely and then gestured with her hand.
Then, within the about-to-collapse building, a mature woman trapped by a fallen bookcase felt a glowing light emanating from the pendant hanging around her neck.
The woman, who initially felt intense pain in her legs, suddenly noticed something unusual happening to her body and hastily pulled the glowing pendant from around her neck, her face lighting up with excitement and joy.
Feeling empowered by the light emitting from the pendant, she attempted a kick and astonishingly managed to shove aside the bookcase that had been pinning her legs, leaving her with no hope of escape.
The elegantly poised woman stood up, then surprisingly discovered that her legs, which she expected were broken, were now intact.
The reason for this was the pendant in her hand, as the wounds on her legs were rapidly healing from the light it emitted.
“Is it the great Star Goddess, Laya?” The woman, now free from her predicament, did not rush to escape but instead held the pendant cautiously and whispered.
“Believer Hila, are you willing to become my apostle?” a nebulous feminine voice sounded.
“I am willing.” The woman who had escaped death, hearing the voice that seemed to resonate within her soul, exclaimed excitedly.
“Then, I bestow upon you the courage and the power to become the beacon of hope to save your city!”
The pendant in the woman’s hand suddenly burst into radiant light, enveloping her body, then carried her out of the teetering building…
