Chapter 1045: Chapter 1032: Things That Don’t Open Their Eyes Chapter 1045: Chapter 1032: Things That Don’t Open Their Eyes “What is this place?”
The man looked around with some confusion. All around him was void, with only some colorful bands of light floating in the air, but he felt as though his feet were solidly planted on the ground.
“Huh?” Suddenly, the man realized he was standing. He looked down sharply and then saw his legs, which should have been unable to support his body for walking, standing straight.
“Are my legs healed?” A surge of tremendous joy welled up in the man’s heart, but he quickly came to his senses and realized his family’s financial situation could never afford to heal his legs.
“So this is a dream.” The man remembered that he had just fallen asleep. Once he knew it was a dream, the thrill in his heart faded instantly.
And with the knowledge that everything around him was void, the man’s panic, confusion, and fear disappeared. Instead, he began to try walking in this space that seemed dreamlike and resplendent, using his legs that he had never paid attention to before but now, after losing them, felt incredibly precious.
“The feeling of walking freely is so good!” exclaimed the man, who only realized the value of something after losing it. Though he knew everything before his eyes was an illusion, he was willing to indulge in this falsehood, experiencing what he had lost.
After wandering aimlessly for a while, the man seemed to have noticed some buildings in front of him. With a hint of curiosity, he walked towards the structure.
After walking for an indeterminable amount of time, the man’s mouth involuntarily opened wide in awe. He saw a scene beyond his wildest imagination—a multitude of radiant, splendid, and dazzling temples, scattered across the space in front of him, filling his sight with their splendor and grandeur.
Among these buildings that seemed to be inhabited by deities, inside a massive temple surrounded by countless other structures, he vaguely saw a blurred yet immensely majestic presence. And when he saw this shadowy figure, which made him want to kneel in worship, everything before his eyes suddenly shattered.
Ah—
The man jolted awake in his hospital bed, his eyes snapping open to the familiar, speckled, decrepit yellow-gray ceiling, gasping for air,
“It was a dream after all!” The man, now calm, sighed with a trace of disappointment as he looked around at the familiar surroundings. He was in the lowest grade hospital room, so everything was of the lowest quality.
The man in bed pressed his hands against the sides of the bed and then propped up his body, attempting to sit up. But as he moved his body with his hands, a very faint sensation was transmitted to his brain through his nerves.
This sensation, which caused his upper body to stiffen as it lifted off the bed, led the man to sit upright and incredulously reach out to touch his legs.
Then, his legs sent him a faint feeling of being touched, a sensation he hadn’t felt since his accident. Overwhelmed, the man threw his head back and laughed maniacally, and as he did so, tears inevitably streamed down his face.
“Whining in the middle of the night, will you let people sleep? If you want to cry, go cry outside.”
Upon hearing the disgruntled roar from the next room, the man closed his mouth, but his face remained streaked with tears, displaying a twisted expression that was both crying and laughing.
The man, who had fallen into despair, now saw a glimmer of hope for the normal recovery of his legs. His legs had regained sensation, and the reason for the change in his legs, he attributed to everything he had just seen in his dream.
“It must be a blessing from a deity.” The man didn’t need to think; he instinctively believed what he had seen in his dream was a deity—no, that had not been a dream. By some fortuitous coincidence, he had stumbled into the domain of a deity and witnessed the sleeping chamber of a god.
“Why have I been given this chance?” After the excitement had subsided, the man gradually calmed down. He knew that due to his busy work schedule, even though he sometimes prayed to the deity along with his wife, if he were to be honest, he was merely a pan believer, not a devout believer.
“Could it be because of my wife?” He wondered if it was because his wife prayed so devotedly every day that the deity had protected him. This thought sprang into his mind.
The next day, when his wife came to take care of him, he tentatively asked her about it. He learned that after his accident, indeed, she had prayed for him with even more devotion than before.
“Why do you ask?” The woman, who had been interrogated by her husband, asked in confusion. She noticed that her husband was completely different from the last time she had seen him. If before he was filled with death Qi, now he was brimming with life.
“Just asking.” The man smiled and then nonchalantly made a request to his wife, “Let’s file for discharge. I won’t stay in the hospital anymore. I want to go home.”
“How can that be? Your legs haven’t healed. How can you be discharged?”
“No need, I can get treatment at home too.” A mysterious smile appeared on the man’s face. Although he had not tried a second time, he had a vague feeling in his heart that if he prayed and knelt to the deity, his legs would get better and better until fully recovered and he could walk normally on the ground.
…
“Haha, I am truly a genius. I have gained yet another devout believer.”
In a rather pitifully small Divine Kingdom, a transparent-looking tall woman with golden hair laughed wildly, completely made of the Power of Faith.
Next to her, a regal sister with an identical appearance, but in a solid form, watched her, sinking into deep thought,
“Why does the avatar I’ve created with the Power of Faith look so detestable?”
… Golden Dragon Mother was stealthily poaching devotees from a Deity constructed by the Stars Congregation, usurping the faith of that unconscious Deity, preparing to grow strong enough to directly replace it.
While Golden Dragon Mother was sneakily developing her power within the territory of the Stars Congregation, Muria had already spent three years on the battlefield,
“Jenos, in three days, your three-year term will end, and you can return to the Clan.” On the other side of the communicator, several middle-aged and elderly faces beamed with smiles.
The Douglas Clan leader and the elders anxiously counted down the days until Muria’s return, especially excited these days.
Muria’s presence on the battlefield had them on edge, worrying every moment for the future hope of the Clan, fearing the worst on the warfront.
“Alright, I will return on time.” In the battlefield, aside from an early encounter, for the past three years, Muria had faced nothing but minor, probing attacks.
For three years, he sat on that defensive line, bored to the point of stir-craziness; after all, the Different Species on the other side weren’t foolish enough to launch a doomed attack.
“Good, the Clan is already preparing a banquet, just waiting for our main character to arrive.”
The head of the Douglas Clan said with a warm smile, as the event ostensibly organized to welcome Muria’s return was actually meant to showcase him as the symbol of the Clan, preparing him to take over as the next head of Clan Douglas.
“There’s no need for the banquet to be too large.”
… After chatting with the Clan elders for a while, Muria turned off the communicator. After spending three peaceful days, under the reluctant farewells of the Militar Officers,
Muria boarded the train back to the Federation with the Clan’s young members who had followed him onto the battlefield and 130,000 of the original million Soldiers who had come with him.
…
“What great weather!”
Under the clear sky, the train sped along its designated tracks, and inside the carriage, a girl with black hair sat by the window, gazing at the sky and the endless fields outside, unable to help but marvel at the serene view.
The rest of the passengers felt similarly, all smiles as they left the battlefield and headed home, their moods exceptionally cheerful.
However, this relaxed and happy atmosphere was soon shattered. The girl, who had been enjoying the cloudless sky, watched as a mass of purple-black light appeared out of nowhere.
This splotch of color stood out starkly against the blue sky, like a drop of ink on white paper, visibly jarring. As this purple-black light surfaced, it spread rapidly, consuming the cloudless sky in its wake.
In just a few short moments, a thick, oppressive purple-black cloud billowed in the sky, with barely perceptible Runes shimmering within.
“What is this thing?” Staring at the shocking change in the sky, the girl momentarily froze, her face showing panic—not due to a lack of resolve, but because the entity causing this atmospheric anomaly was of a much higher life form.
“Legend!” As panic began to set in, the girl suddenly felt a warm Qi envelop her, chasing away the fear in her heart, followed by a gentle voice near her ear.
“What?” Hearing this familiar voice, Daisy turned her head to see a tall, lean young man standing beside her—her brother, whose presence had deterred the Different Species from attacking his defensive line for three years.
“It’s nothing, just a foolhardy individual attacking us, no need to panic.”
“Attack?” Confusion swept across the girl’s face before she realized, “Brother, are you saying that the changes in the sky are caused by a creature?”
“Mhm.”
