Chapter 329 - Chapter 329 56章 Accident

Chapter 329: 56Zhang Accident Chapter 329: 56Zhang Accident The glamorous hall, the noisy crowd, the melodious music, the boiling voices–this was not the Oscar ceremony, yet it was livelier than the awards themselves. Vanity Fair had organized the Oscar Night party for the third time, and the previous two had earned them substantial reputation. Besides, they had always maintained good relations with the entertainment industry and the threshold to enter was much lower than that of the award ceremony. Consequently, many industry heavyweights attended, making the party even more dazzling.

For instance, Tom Hanks and his wife, who had won Best Actor in a leading role for multiple years, were chatting cheerfully in a corner with another couple who shared the name–Tom Cruise and his wife. On the other side, Jessica Lange, the Best Actress winner, stood with a glass of wine loudly talking to her friends, her expression excited, clearly happy about having won both Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress.

As for Adrian, who had just been nominated youngest Best Director and had broken the record to become the youngest Best Director in Oscar history, he was now sitting on a couch in a small room, congratulating Laverne, the CEO of Bossworth Film Company.

“How does it feel to win Best Picture?” Adrian asked with a smile, adjusting his sitting posture.

“Not bad.” Laverne shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, completely different from his demeanor during the acceptance speech.

Forrest Gump had already secured Best Picture when Adrian won Best Director. As previously mentioned, unless under special circumstances, Best Director and Best Picture are rarely given to two different films. Besides, Forrest Gump perfectly encapsulated mainstream American values, so if there had to be a sacrifice, it would only be Best Director.

Since Adrian was the producer and Laverne represented the film company, they both went up to receive the award. Adrian knew Laverne had always wanted the company to own an Oscar-winning film, so he had handed the speech opportunity to him. Laverne had been genuinely thrilled then. Despite his calm exterior, don’t forget Adrian was right by his side. What was unexpected was that, just a few minutes into the Vanity Fair party after the ceremony had ended, Laverne seemed to no longer care about it.

“It’s normal,” Laverne explained, noticing his confusion, “When you dedicate a lot of time to something wholeheartedly, never giving up despite numerous failures and pains, aiming to prove yourself with it, you’ll feel particularly empty once it’s completed. The longer you hold onto the belief, the stronger the emptiness feels, like…”

“Like in movies or novels, those who spend their lives chasing a belief of revenge, and feel emptied once they’ve achieved it,” Adrian laughed as he chimed in.

“Um… well, that’s definitely more vivid, I was going to say, like those who strive hard and reach the top.” Laverne shrugged again, then sighed shortly after.

“Come on, Laverne, this is just the beginning,” Adrian patted his shoulder firmly, “believe me, before you leave, we’ll win many more Best Pictures.”

The so-called departure, of course, wasn’t about making him leave the job, since Laverne had already proven his competence. However, as AC Media grew, the status of Bossworth Film started to decline. The founding figures must not be underappreciated. Eisner had left Paramount for this reason, Laverne had left Paramount for the same reason, and even last year, Katzenberg left Disney for this reason. Therefore, Adrian suggested to Claude that Laverne be promoted to the head company, and Claude had agreed.

“Thank you.” Laverne finally smiled as well, lifting his glass, “I’ve always believed in you, Ed.”

After draining his glass, Adrian patted Laverne again and stood up to leave the room.

Would he also feel this way if he eventually achieved his own goals? He suddenly thought of this but quickly chuckled and shook his head, dismissing the thought. Instead of pondering such things, he figured it was better to focus on achieving his goals first. Of course, being surrounded by admirers immediately upon leaving the room also played a part in him dropping the thought.

The youngest Best Director at the Oscars, an exceptionally perceptive and outstanding producer, and Tom Hanks had even implicitly acknowledged during his acceptance speech that being able to retain the Best Actor award was due to Adrian–all these were enough reasons for the actresses attending the party to flock around him.

Adrian quickly dismissed them; he wasn’t interested in skirmishing with them at the moment. Since he had arrived at the party, he had spent most of his time exchanging pleasantries with some familiar people, and it was now time to find his women.

But just then, another voluptuous body barged into his embrace, a charming smile appearing on her lips as a seductive voice soon buzzed in his ear, “Hi, great director, where are you heading?”

“Of course, just wandering around.” Adrian, flipping his previously polite and indifferent tone, quickly glanced around and, with a smile, unabashedly squeezed the perky bottom of the other person, gently kneading it, “How have you been, Drew?”

“Not bad, your new script for me is about to start shooting. Maybe you can come and check it out?” Drew Barrymore giggled, leaning affectionately into his arms without care–an act Adrian himself usually performed behind closed doors, unseen by others.

Speaking of which, it was quite interesting. Drew, now reestablished in her fame, remained bold at some parties but always kept it in measure, except she never minded appearing like a harlot in front of Adrian.

She probably thought he liked her this way. Adrian imperceptibly shrugged his shoulders. After all, he had helped her win a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, and had also given her many good suggestions.

Following Adrian’s advice, Drew had been trying out comedy films for the past two years and had achieved reasonably good results; she even scored a role in “Batman Forever” recently. Besides, she had tried to set up her own film production company by borrowing money, but because she lacked a good script, she specifically sought Adrian’s help.

So, after being thoroughly pampered by Drew Barrymore a few times, Adrian had handed her the script for “Never Been Kissed,” a romantic comedy that never went out of fashion. Moreover, satisfied with her services, Adrian also specifically participated in the investment–this all happened at the end of last year.

“I promise, but for now, there are other matters to handle,” Adrian said with a light laugh, pinching her shapely bottom hard. He didn’t mind having a few more friendly matches with Drew, like he did with Cameron or Cindy. Blonde, blue-eyed women were popular everywhere, and her doll face made a very sensual image.

“Oh, you’re so heartless, Ed.” While her tone carried a hint of complaint, Drew’s face was incredibly flirtatious.

Adrian smiled and withdrew his hand, moving through the crowd without turning back, Drew shrugged, feeling a mix of regret and indifference as she walked the other way. If it were another time, he would have taken her somewhere secluded for a fierce encounter, but not tonight–because–

On the upstairs secluded part of the party, dim lighting made the passageway seem hazy. Near the wall, a petite figure reclined at nearly a 120-degree angle, standing on the tips of Adrian’s shoes with heels pointed high, her arms around his neck, kissing him wildly.

Even so, after intermittently savoring each other’s kisses for a moment, Kirsten finally got down from Adrian.

“I love you, Ed, I really, really love you.” The flushed-faced girl looked at Adrian with hazy eyes, excited since winning Best Supporting Actress earlier that night. During the award ceremony’s photo shoot, she had clung to Adrian, luckily without anyone noticing.

“I love you too, my little fairy.”

“Little fairy? I love that nickname; from now on, I’ll be your little fairy.” Kirsten smiled reluctantly, her eyes curved yet brimming with an irresistible allure.

“Really?” Adrian asked meaningfully.

“Oh… Of course, I always will be,” Kirsten softly exclaimed, “as long as you want me to be.”

Adrian stopped talking, bending even lower to kiss her cheek before holding the girl without moving for a while.

After a long pause, Kirsten finally recovered, coughed lightly, and pushed Adrian away.

“I’m sorry, Ed, I have to go back now,” the girl said, her reluctance sincere. “You know, it was already difficult for me to come to the party; Mom won’t let me stay for too long.”

“I know, it’s okay. Go back,” Adrian said calmly, his fingers lightly stroking her cheek.

Kirsten’s gaze flitted enticingly, and suddenly, as his fingers grazed her lips, she opened her mouth and captured them.

“Yes, you said you would find time to properly guide me,” she said with a seductive, sweet voice.

Adrian smiled slightly, leaned down to whisper a few words into her ear, and then playfully licked her small earlobe. Kirsten’s petite body trembled momentarily but soon returned to her innocent yet charming demeanor.

“Then, good night.” The girl tiptoed up to gently kiss his face, then headed toward the end of the corridor.

Watching Kirsten disappear at the end of the hallway, Adrian waited silently for a moment before he too began walking in that direction.

The temptation of Lolita was indeed fatal, constantly compelling him towards sin. An involuntary sigh escaped him as he thought such thoughts. He regretted that he must still endure for a while longer, maintaining the current situation was best, otherwise, things could easily go awry.

Acting impulsively wasn’t wise; controlling one’s desires was a must for every successful individual. With that thought, Adrian redirected his mind to other matters, such as Monica and Julia.

After arriving at the party from the Holy Grand Hall, he had only briefly seen both women from a distance without even greeting them, of course, he was being approached by many women at the time and didn’t have a moment to spare; Monica, as always, took it in stride, while Julia similarly showed her usual annoyed expression.

Walking on, Adrian chuckled lightly, letting Kirsten’s ignited spark be borne by them. Just thinking of the previous occasions when Monica and Julia were simultaneously beneath him made Adrian eager to reach the hall sooner. Speaking of which, when could he manage to get both Kate and Charli into bed together?

Just then, a graceful figure flashed by in his peripheral vision; if Adrian wasn’t familiar enough with her, he might have missed her. How did she come here? Adrian wondered to himself. For safety, he and Kirsten were being intimate on the third floor; how could she be on the second floor?

Pausing his steps to reflect, Adrian then turned from the staircase into the hallway on the second floor, making two turns he saw the figure from earlier. No need to see her face, the bright red one-shoulder evening gown and the lovely figure confirmed it was indeed her, yet she stood motionless, seemingly having been there for a long time.

Choosing his words carefully, Adrian approached and asked with a surprised tone, “Hey, Nicole, what are you doing here?”

Nicole Kidman immediately turned around, seemingly startled, her face pale and slightly confused, her deep blue eyes holding an indefinable bewilderment. Adrian took a deep breath, still smelling a hint of alcohol; she seemed to have drunk quite a bit, similar to the last time.

Sparks flashed in Adrian’s eyes, and he stepped closer with a concerned tone, “What happened?”

Nicole didn’t reply, but just stared fixedly at him; her hair was done up, revealing her white, swan-like neck, making her look like a beautiful doll. Adrian raised an eyebrow, about to continue his inquiry, but Nicole spoke first, “Can we talk?”

“Of course,” Adrian quickly agreed without a second thought, “I’m all ears.”

His tone was sincere, and something ignited in Nicole’s eyes. She immediately opened the door to the adjacent room and walked in first. Adrian sensed something was amiss, but couldn’t pinpoint what, so he followed her inside.

No sooner had he closed the door and turned around than Nicole came at him with a gust of perfumed air, pinning the unprepared Adrian against the door, and while reaching to lock it, she kissed him.

This unexpected passion left Adrian dazed for a moment, thus the initiative was entirely in her hands.

“Oh, my God… What’s gotten into you?” After ending the deep kiss, Adrian gasped.

“Don’t tell me you don’t want me,” Nicole gasped as well, her beautiful face flushed, making her look even more enticing. Watching Adrian’s eyes filled with desire, she boldly grabbed his crotch.

Adrian drew a sharp breath, the direct touch, though still separated by his pants, enflamed his already aroused state. Since she had effectively delivered herself to him, why worry about anything else–just devour it!

Soon, they began kissing again, lingering for a while, until Adrian finally lifted Nicole onto a chair. However, just as he was about to proceed further, the recovered Nicole suddenly pushed him away with a cold tone, “You can leave now!” (To be continued.
