Chapter 94: His Death Was A Victory

Without hesitation, Axel shot at Daren, hitting him in the chest. That made the Omega feel so much pain that he even whimpered in pain. His face paled and it was a victory for Ivan.

The man laughed at how Daren was trying to stay alive, but was struggling. He felt that it was the moment he had been waiting for and he wanted to see the last moments of the foolish Omega.

"After all these years I can finally feel calmer because you will die soon. Marabella will fall to me and your death won’t be remembered by anyone either," Ivan said between laughs.

"You really want my death that badly," said Daren who was trying to endure the pain but slowly he could feel that he could no longer endure the pain.

Axel tucked the gun back into his leather jacket, and watched Daren slowly die until his eyes finally closed and the signs of life were no longer there.

Ivan grinned, feeling triumphant that his barrier was finally gone. This way the Wyne family was over and there would be no more of their bloodline.

When he was about to go over to Daren and check if the man was really dead, Axel stopped him which made Ivan feel so surprised.

"You better not touch it, lest you leave your fingerprints on it. You can be immediately made a suspect if it is detected by the police," said Axel, which Ivan finally accepted.

"You’re right, if anything of his is left on me or vice versa the police will be suspicious because the last person to see him was me," said the beta then pulled himself away from Daren.

"From here on leave it to me, I’ll take care of the body to make it look like someone kidnapped it. I’ve prepared several people who will be used as scapegoats in Daren’s death," the agent told his client.

He then called his boss to say that the job was done. Ivan also confirmed that the task had indeed been completed and done right in front of him. Because of that, it meant Axel’s job was done and the working relationship between Axel and Ivan no longer existed.

"You better go home before morning comes. You create your own alibi before anyone sees you leave your apartment."

"Alright, I’ll leave. Maybe next time I’ll need you again to do other work," he said.

But Axel didn’t seem to want to see Ivan again, and reasoned that his boss would definitely send another agent for Ivan.

The man finally left the abandoned warehouse, leaving Axel to take care of Daren’s body. The Alpha looked at his Omega’s body, with a blank stare as if he didn’t feel the loss of his lover at all.

He then untied Daren’s body and lifted the blond man into the car and left the warehouse after Ivan had gone first.

On the way Axel called someone he recognized.

"Wil, I need your help. Come to my house right now, and bring all your medical equipment. I need you to perform an operation," he told his good friend Wilfred.

"To your house right now? Okay, I’ll be right there. Is this related to him?"

Axel was silent for a moment and the man’s silence could be interpreted as a ’yes’ answer for his friend. Wilfred understood and he would be there in a few minutes. Axel kept his phone closed and focused on the road while occasionally turning to Daren who was breathing softly.

The Omega wasn’t really dead, because Axel hadn’t shot him in the heart. He did shoot Daren in the chest, but not where it was so fatal that he could still save Daren before it was too late.

He was only unconscious because he couldn’t bear the pain of the shot.

"You must be in a lot of pain, but you’re great because you can endure it. Take it easy, you’ll be fine soon," he said and rubbed the unconscious Daren’s head.

Over the next few hours, Wilfred tried to remove the bullet from Daren’s body. He focused on performing minor surgery with makeshift tools and he eventually succeeded in doing so.

Axel knew that his friend could do it because whenever he was injured, Wilfred was the one who would treat him because he needed time to treat his wounds quickly.

"He’ll be fine soon and will probably wake up once the anesthesia wears off. I admit he’s a strong Omega because I can feel that he’s trying to stay alive," the man explained to Axel which made him feel calmer seeing Daren who was fast asleep after his wounds were treated.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Axel rubbed Daren’s head as he finally managed to make Ivan believe that the man was dead.

"Your decision was absolutely insane, you’re lucky to have the ability to be able to shoot on target and not hit his heart. If you had missed a bit, he would have died right then and there."

"Even so, this decision was really difficult for me. I had to shoot my own Omega and watch him feel the pain of what I did. Even though I could have hit the bullseye, I was so scared to do it," Axel replied.

Wilfred stared at his partner, seeing the change in Axel when the cold-blooded man finally had someone he loved. Being able to feel the fear, worry and other feelings that people usually feel.

"You’ve really changed, that Omega really changed you. It feels like I’m seeing a human before me now," he said patting Axel’s shoulder.

"Maybe you’re right, he really has changed me making me feel like a human. No, it’s more like realizing that I’m also a human," Axel replied and smiled at Daren.

But Wilfred warned that it would be dangerous if their boss knew about Daren being alive. Especially if Ivan also found out, Axel couldn’t possibly hide Daren forever.

Of course he knew about it and he was already planning something to keep Daren in a safe place. This time he had to think of a way to explain everything to the Omega.

Before he was shot, Daren was still smiling and saying how much he loved Axel. However, it was doubtful whether Daren still felt the same way after he shot him.

"I hope he will understand."
