Chapter 40: Dangerous Situation

BANG!

Axel opened fire on the car to his right three times, making it difficult for anyone in the car to focus and eventually crashing into a nearby tree.

"They hit a tree! Are they going to be okay?!" asked a shocked Daren.

"Better worry about yourself instead of them," said Axel then bit the gun and took the ammunition to replace the empty one.

However, before Axel could shoot at the car on the other side, it crashed into their car. The car swerved, and Axel, who had been replacing bullets, had trouble controlling the car again.

The gun in his hand fell, making it difficult for Axel to reach it.

"Let me get it!" Daren lowered his body to grab the gun, but he too was having trouble.

His hand was already touching the gun on the floor of the car, but he couldn’t pick it up. "It’s so hard... I touched it but--!"

At the same time, the car that was still following them seemed to throw something onto the car, making Axel gasp in surprise.

Beep beep beep...

He could hear the beep loud enough to make the Alpha realize what it was. Reflexively he tried to open the door of a nearby car, but the door became stuck due to the violent impact earlier.

"Damn, the door is stuck!" he said as he tried to break it down from the inside.

"I got it!" exclaimed Daren as he raised the gun in his hand.

"That’s not important now! Quickly open the door near you! We need to get out before the car explodes!"

Daren’s eyes widened in shock. "Explode?! The car’s going to explode?!"

He quickly tried to open the nearby door. Daren pushed the car door, but to no avail.

"The door is stuck! What’s in there too?! How is this, I still don’t want to die!"

"Neither do I, take off your belt!" Axel ordered then he also took off his belt.

Grabbing the gun from Daren’s hand, he shot the glass of the car in front of them until it cracked and finally shattered after Axel hit it hard.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

The beeps were getting louder and faster, they didn’t have much time, Axel took off his suit and quickly got out of the car. The Alpha then pulled Daren along with him. He shielded Daren’s head so that the man wouldn’t get hit by the broken glass, though it was his hand that got hurt worse.

"Jump!" The two of them jumped onto the shoulder of the road with Axel who immediately hugged the body of the Omega man who was with him.

Covering the man’s body with his large body and the suit he had taken off earlier. They both rolled on the road before their car finally exploded loudly.

BOOM!

Axel caught his breath, his body ached but he seemed to be used to such dangerous situations. It was as if he was already highly trained for circumstances outside the work of an ordinary bodyguard.

"Ukkh... Hey, are you okay?!" he asked as he released his arms from Daren.

However, Daren was unconscious. He was also injured despite Axel’s efforts to protect him.

"Huft... Luckily it’s not too bad," Axel said and rubbed Daren’s head.

The car that had thrown the bomb at them stopped and four Alpha men came out of the car with guns in their hands.

"Come with us, and we’ll keep him alive!" said one of them.

"Heh, so you guys came after me?" asked Axel as he laid Daren down. He stood up from his place and approached them.

"You better not fight much, our boss wants to see you so you better come with us without a fight!"

Hearing this, Axel certainly didn’t take their word for it. Again and again, someone would come after him, even in the midst of his duty to look after Daren.

"You think I’m going to take your word for it?" he asked as he folded his arms across his chest. "I’ve told you many times, I’m not going to be one of you and never have been! So you better leave before I do anything!"

He growled in annoyance while releasing his threatening pheromones on them, of course they could feel Axel’s very strong and terrible pheromones.

But they had no other choice, even if they left, they would get punished by their boss for failing to bring Axel before their boss.

"You still don’t want to leave? Alright, I’ll make you regret this."

Axel suddenly shot one of the five Alphas with his gun, right in the hand. The rifle in his hand fell, and that’s when he grabbed it.

He quickly hit the others with the rifle in his hand.

BANG BANG BANG!

They fired at the bodyguard, but he easily dodged the attack. He rolled away from where Daren was so the man wouldn’t get hurt.

"My turn." He aimed his long-barreled rifle at them and fired at them one by one.

At the same time, Daren woke up because he heard gunshots. But his vision was blurry and his body hurt too much to move. He couldn’t see clearly, but he could hear gunshots everywhere.

"Axel..." he called in a weak voice.

Axel stood up from his place after he shot them one by one. He gasped for breath and threw down the rifle in his hand. He turned to Daren who was still lying limp not far from him.

"I’d better take him to the hospital," he said.

He then pushed the bodies of the Alphas he had killed behind a bush near the forest and lifted Daren’s body to get into the Alphas’ car.

"Axel... What happened?" asked Daren in a weak voice, he saw the blood splatter on his bodyguard’s face.

"It’s nothing important, it’s better not to think about it and forget about it. We’re going to the hospital now," he replied and laid the Omega’s body on the back seat.

Just as he was about to start the car, it broke down and the engine wouldn’t start.

"Damn!" he grumbled as he hit the steering wheel.

He then let out a rough breath and turned to Daren who had closed his eyes again. He grabbed his cell phone and called someone.

20 minutes later, a blue car arrived and stopped near Axel who was waiting outside.

"What happened?" asked the man who had just arrived, the same person that Axel met at the bar few weeks ago.

"They’re coming after me again. Boss warned them, but it seems their leader doesn’t know what stopping is," replied Axel, who was still leaning on his enemy’s damaged car.

He asked the man to take them to the hospital because Daren needed treatment. His good friend agreed and took him and the unconscious Daren to the hospital.

"You thought your job this time was to keep that man out of danger, but you put him in danger instead."

"I know, I hate this too, Willson. They’ve really gone crazy," Axel replied and watched Daren from the center mirror.

They ended up going to the hospital, and Willson dropped Axel off when they arrived as he couldn’t possibly go in with them.

"Watch out for that group, they won’t stop until they get what they want, which is to get you, Vic."

Axel squinted his eyes then closed them for a moment.

"Yeah, I know."
