Chapter 2608: Vanished
Chapter 2608: Vanished
Monster soldiers swarmed in from the surroundings and encircled them. Several powerful monsters emerged from their ranks. Xie Daoyun, remembering them from her memories, recognized them to be the renowned Monster Generals!
They were none other than the Shadow Monster King, the War Priest, the Shadowhorror Devil, and the Doomsday Spirit!
The other Monster Generals had been either killed or severely injured by Zu An and the Lord of Slaughter in their previous showdown. It looks like the injured ones haven’t recovered yet.
Faced with so many ferocious monsters, Ji Xiaoxi fearfully leaned closer to Zu An. Xie Daoyun, Yun Yuqing, and Suolun Shi secretly prepared their hand, ready to attack at any moment.
Had it been before, they would have spiraled into a panic when faced with so many monsters. However, they'd met far too many powerful entities in the Celestial World, so much so that the enemies before them, despite being far stronger, didn’t look as intimidating anymore.
The ladies looked to Zu An for instructions, only to be shocked to see a mask on his face.
Zu An had to wear a mask to avoid affecting the future. Since he would come into contact with some of these Monster Generals in the future, there was no telling what would happen if they saw his true face here and recognized him when they met again in the future. That was a risk he couldn’t take.
The War Priest was perplexed by the absence of notable figures in the party. “Where are the Lord of Slaughter and the others?”
Zu An had been a difficult opponent for them back then, but after reviewing their battles, they realized that his strength was only on par with that of an average Monster General. It was just that he had all kinds of tricks that made him a troublesome foe. But now that they had a better grasp of those tricks and knew how to guard against them, it would be much easier to deal with him now. Not to mention they had come up with new skills and tricks for this rematch.
“Scram! I’m not in the mood to deal with you now.” Zu An was already in a terrible mood, and these sidekicks still wanted to annoy him at this juncture!
What further frustrated him was that he couldn’t kill them right now. He needed them alive so he could deal with them in the future. What a hassle!
The Shadow Monster King and the others were enraged. “You scum! How dare you blatantly disrespect us? I’ll rip off your skin and remove your tendons! You shall watch in despair as the ladies beside you suffer fates worse than death!”
You have successfully trolled the Shadow Monster King for +444... +444... +444
You have successfully trolled the War Priest...
...
The influx of Rage points didn’t lift Zu An’s mood; it only fanned his anger.
All of a sudden, there was a flash of seven-colored light. It swept away the Monster Generals before they could understand what was going on. They found themselves twirling all around a seven-colored world as if they were laundry inside a washing machine, causing their heads to spin.
Then, they were hurled out of the light and landed heavily on the ground.
The Monster Generals tried to leap to their feet to counterattack. How could they admit defeat when they hadn’t even used their artifacts and skills? But no matter how they flailed around with their hands and feet, they couldn’t get to their feet, as if the earlier fall had broken them for good. They felt so giddy that they could vomit.
The monster soldiers were dumbstruck. What’s going on? We came here to destroy these humans, right? How did the tables turn on us? How in the world were the almighty Monster Generals defeated in the blink of an eye?
The monster soldiers lost their fighting spirit. If not for their fear of the Monster Lord’s punishment, they would have thrown their weapons away and surrendered by now.
Zu An couldn’t be bothered to waste his time on the monster soldiers. He grabbed Ji Xiaoxi’s hand and led the other ladies out of the Imperial Tomb.
The monster soldiers instinctively opened a path for them to cross. They lowered their heads, not daring to meet Zu An’s eyes. However, despite the monsters’ attempt to steer clear of Zu An’s party, there were simply too many of them here, and the space in the Imperial Tomb was limited.
Ji Xiaoxi and the others could still smell the monsters’ repulsive aura. However, none of the monsters dared to step out of line. This peculiar experience left the ladies excited and awed. They would never have thought that the savage monsters could be this obedient.
They soon left the Imperial Tomb. The sight of the sun evoked a wistful feeling. It felt as if so many things had changed since.
A powerful aura came surging in from the distance. It was the Monster Lord and his aides. They had rushed over upon receiving news about Zu An’s return.
When he saw Zu An’s party, the Monster Lord frowned. “Where’s the Lord of Slaughter?”
There was a flash of seven-colored light, and the Lord of Slaughter’s massive body was hurled onto the ground. A huge commotion broke out.
The Lord of Slaughter had dominated the Monster World for so long that many monsters still viewed him as the strongest despite the Monster Lord’s usurpation of power. They thought that the Monster Lord had only come to power because of his schemes.
And yet, they were witnessing the strongest monster, the Lord of Slaughter, being hurled on the ground like a sandbag with their own eyes.
The Monster Lord’s eyes quivered. He had only usurped the throne from the Lord of Slaughter by developing a comprehensive plan and planting many chess pieces beforehand, and even so, it was a narrow victory.
To make things worse, the Lord of Slaughter had even grasped the secret behind the Fiend race’s Imperial Tomb and entered the legendary Celestial World!
All this while, the Monster Lord had been worried that the Lord of Slaughter would stumble upon a fortuitous encounter in the Celestial World and awaken his bloodline power. As a countermeasure, he'd prepared many slaughter formations and stationed the Monster Generals and their armies in the Imperial Tomb. He'd even developed new moves to catch the Lord of Slaughter by surprise.
To think that his strongest enemy would be defeated just like that!
The Monster Lord quickly snapped out of his daze and laughed. “So you have dealt with the Lord of Slaughter! The enemy of one's enemy is a friend. I will handsomely reward you for your merit!”
At the same time, he wondered what was going on with the Shadow Monster King, the War Priest, and the others. Why aren’t they making a move?
Those two Monster Generals were extremely powerful, and they were aided by the Shadowhorror Devil, the Doomsday Spirit, and the monster armies. Even the Monster Lord would struggle to deal with such a lineup.
He had rushed here as soon as he received the signal. Surely they can’t be dead yet?
“Who’s your friend? This is the human world. Scram from this world with your subordinates, and I’ll consider sparing your lives,” Zu An sneered coldly.
The Monster Lord’s smile stiffened. He first glanced at the unconscious Lord of Slaughter, followed by the eerily silent Imperial Mausoleum. There’s something amiss about this fellow. However, he soon burst into laughter and said, “You’re merely putting on a strong front. If you were truly that powerful, you wouldn’t have to demand our departure.”
However, a blade of sword ki suddenly appeared before his eyes. It was so fast that he didn’t have time to react. By the time he glanced at his right arm, it had already vanished from sight!
