Chapter 892: Chapter 892 Free Instance Strategy
Messages claimed that Suitcase Man had been spotted in both Zone 009 and Zone 004, looking the same but clearly wounded.
As a notorious super player, many found it hard to believe that Suitcase Man would sustain injuries and trudge through different gaming zones. However, someone soon added that Suitcase Man had clashed with the Paper Servant Master, and it seemed both parties were hurt, though the reason for their fight was unclear.
Many players were interested in this news and eagerly inquired about the location of the incident.
"Super player showdowns are usually a big deal. It’s not a fight unless it destroys a city or two," someone replied below, "But Suitcase Man is different. He wields an instance and can fight inside it. Few who enter his instance come out alive, probably only his peers."
"Isn’t Suitcase Man a fugitive? Fugitives can own instances?" another asked.
"I don’t know about that, but look at those instance holders. How many of them haven’t killed or started fires? The game might not openly support these people, but could those underground industries really thrive without the game turning a blind eye?"
"Do you guys think the people in the Game Government are saints?" another commented. "Forget letting fugitives own instances; some even become Grey Players and work for the Game Government. There are fugitives running chain stores, just by changing the Wormhole Points, or otherwise, they get a Temporary Pass."
"Where can I get a Temporary Pass?"
"Stop dreaming. Getting a Temporary Pass is all about luck. Even Rank-A Players might not have one."
"As long as the return ticket is valid, having a Temporary Pass doesn’t really matter. I went to an instance at E12 Wormhole Point last time and barely made it out!"
"Some instances are twisted, just like random instances without time limits. If you can clear it, you clear it; if not, you either die inside or wait three months for a risky random one. Many advanced players have fallen for this."
"Instances with smaller time dilations aren’t so bad. When there’s a large time dilation, damn, you could practically marry and have kids inside the instance. When you come out, not even a month has passed outside. Damn, I nearly lost my mind once over this!"
"That’s nothing. There’s a Rank-B player on the leaderboard who had a kid in an instance. After coming out and making a round, his kid almost grew taller than him... I wouldn’t believe such instance spaces existed if I hadn’t known it to be true."
Time dilation.
Xu Huo searched for more information. It was actually quite simple and related to the curved time he had seen when encountering the Dimensional Storm. If one were to assign a unit of material evolution to each space, that "time" might not be the same, which is why time outside the instance could be less than a month, but inside the instance, it could be several months or even years.
Typically, instances don’t require years to complete, and time only moves forward, affecting the human body. You might stay in an instance for a month or two, and outside only a few days might have passed, but this doesn’t mean players can come back rejuvenated. The unit of time might differ, but the rate of aging for the player’s body remains unchanged.
He continued reading, but the topic had shifted to "how to use the rules of time dilation to raise more offspring within a limited lifespan."
Xu Huo closed the interface and moved to the Level D Player message board to post the strategy for the "Shared Vision" instance in Zone 009.
The reason he had abandoned the Paper Servant Master’s plane was to provoke a battle. It was a pleasant surprise that Suitcase Man and Paper Servant Master had encountered each other, though it was a pity their fight didn’t break out within an instance.
No matter, he was going to share the strategy for free.
After posting, he found information about Zone 007 at E21 Wormhole Point and scrutinized it.
"Hello, passenger. Your lunch is ready, please choose to dine in your carriage or at the restaurant," projected text appeared right before his eyes.
Xu Huo chose the restaurant, washed his face, put on his glasses, attached the "Shared Positioning," and pinned "Heartbeat Discount," "Heavy Protective Color," and "Magic Escape" to the inside of his clothes. He then wrapped the "Balloon String" around his wrist. "This Way is Blocked" was a simple ring, easy to wear. He changed the "Gentleman’s Stance" and replaced the button on his sleeve with "Towards the Destination."
Having prepared his basic defenses, he stepped out of the room.
One-Eyed and the short-haired female Player were already sitting on the sofa. The short-haired woman seemed to have sustained some external injuries, but since things were peaceful, both sides must have taken losses.
"Are you going to the restaurant to eat?" The Player who boarded with Xu Huo stood up quickly, catching up to him, "Let’s go together."
Xu Huo did not decline, and they exchanged basic information on the way to the restaurant.
"It’s convenient to know each other’s nicknames for checking the leaderboard later," said the Player known as "Lord of the Gods."
Xu Huo looked at him deeply, as the other seemed oblivious that the nickname might cause immediate social death if said aloud, and kept talking, "Maybe we’ll encounter someone on the leaderboard later on. We’re all people of status. What’s your current rank?"
Level D Players could be on the leaderboard, which was normally a combined list of five zones and ten thousand players. For Rank-C Players, the leaderboard expanded to the entire Wormhole Point with a roster of twenty thousand.
Twenty thousand might seem like a huge number, but the population of one zone alone could reach several billion. Even if some zones were smaller, a whole Wormhole Point’s population was significant.
Such a list of twenty thousand was even more competitive than a combined list for five zones.
"I’ve just leveled up, so I probably won’t make the list." Xu Huo didn’t really care about it.
"Who says you can’t rank just after leveling up!" the other replied quickly, "Your instance scores from Level D also count. It’s about the overall rating. After doing two or three Rank-C instances, your rank might start to climb."
"If your rating was high in Level D and you did fewer instances, you’ll definitely make the list." He proudly declared, "I’m currently ranked at nineteen thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight!"
Ascending to Rank-C meant a good ranking in Level D instances. It wasn’t about the number of instances completed; it was about the ratings earned. If you got low ratings every time, your rank could actually drop.
"What’s your nickname? I’ll look it up for you," "Lord of the Gods" offered.
"Passerby A." Xu Huo strode into the restaurant.
There were only a few people dining in the restaurant—a young couple sat opposite each other on the right, enjoying the view and happily chatting. On the left, a middle-aged man, his upper body wound in bandages, was devouring food, with numerous empty plates beside him.
There was a woman reading a book at a central table.
None of them showed any interest in the newcomers. Xu Huo chose a table in the middle and sat down. A hovering robot promptly came to serve dishes. Just as he picked up his utensils, "Lord of the Gods" rushed over, sat opposite him, and gazed at him with sparkling eyes.
