Chapter 855: Chapter 855: Entering the Station One After Another
Using the communicator with the black epaulette, Xu Huo found the identity information of the person responsible for identity verification with the black epaulettes.
The possibility of players infiltrating the black epaulettes was very low, and this player was very likely to have entered the related institution under their true identity, just like Director San Yang. If the person hadn’t been exposed in this incident, then they were likely a liaison for the Holy Sword Society.
Director San Yang and Wan Tingfang were the same.
The government base’s trap for the Holy Sword Society was real, but Zone 011 might really have obtained an object of unparalleled value similar to a Primeval Stone, as indicated by the actions of the black epaulettes during the explosion at Night Orchid Laboratory.
The box that was sent out was actually a tracker.
From the current situation, it seemed that the Holy Sword Society had suffered some losses, but the real loser was the Zone 011 Government.
Additionally, there was something that made Xu Huo feel somewhat uneasy.
There were quite a few Cannibal Players in the Holy Sword Society, but these people seemed more orderly than the Cannibal Players he had encountered before.
Uniting Cannibal Players wasn’t easy, and it could easily devolve into a situation like that of the Twin Snakes Organization in Zone 014, where a bunch of people would flock together to eat others like a cult, and there was absolutely no trust between Cannibal Players and non-Cannibal Players. The moment the content of a Cannibal Player’s diet changed, all trust was completely lost. Yet, the Holy Sword Society managed to cooperate well with both Cannibal Players and non-Cannibal Players.
From the few encounters before, aside from the player Xu Huo initially met who was trying to develop followers in Zone 014, the actions of the Holy Sword Society were all group actions with clear objectives.
They didn’t seem fanatic, but their goals were clear.
Such an organization wasn’t cult-like nor merely an assembly of villains but appeared more like an alliance with a different set of beliefs.
It was difficult to unify people’s convictions, let alone to project an individual’s beliefs onto an organization; from this perspective, the Holy Sword Society was already standing on the extreme edge.
Whether their intentions were benevolent or malicious, their methods positioned them on the opposite side of normal humanity.
When Xu Huo returned to Rose Castle, it was night again.
Mr. Dong was as usual, whereas Bai Kou was somewhat surprised to see him return.
Xu Huo didn’t say much. After finding out that Qing Cai had left in the morning, he just nodded and returned to the study.
Sitting at the desk, he took out the Diamond Gloves with a Sword-shaped pattern burned into them; just as he was about to inspect them closely, he suddenly felt a change in the surrounding space. A burning hand reached out of thin air, causing him to kick the desk and retreat. But the space had changed, trapping him in place. With a slight frown, he took out his tickets.
Before he could leave, he saw Bai Kou appear in front of him.
With a shift of his vision, Xu Huo found himself at the train station and placed the gloves in the prop bar—they had been marked.
He made sure he wasn’t followed when he returned to the castle, but as soon as he took out the gloves, someone arrived. The captured Member of the Holy Sword Society, aside from having undergone Soul Evolution, clearly also knew how to control space and was a person who had undergone multiple aspects of Super Evolution.
This was getting uninteresting. He was just passing through to deliver tickets. It seemed this person was convinced he wasn’t a Member and was desperate to pull him into being a scapegoat.
From this, it was evident that the captured player had ulterior motives. It was unclear what Ashis Verna and the black epaulettes were feeling at this moment.
But Lady Lily was certainly pleased.
He had seen a video of Leyton Mi Lai’er killing a member of the Holy Sword Society on the internet when he left Xiang City, which undoubtedly cleared his suspicion. The destruction of Night Orchid Laboratory and the successful delay by the captured Member made Ashis and the black epaulettes seem a bit lacking in intelligence.
But Xu Huo wasn’t focused on that.
Another player who had undergone multiple aspects of Super Evolution.
Changing his mask, he moved his body a bit, still feeling that sense of obstruction. The previous two times there had been no problem, but this time there was this symptom like an after-effect, somewhat different from the Perfect Evolution Potion described by Master Niese and Dr. Deng.
"Brother, are you hurt?" someone came over to chat with him.
Xu Huo glanced at him, then his gaze moved to another player who had just arrived across from him, missing two fingers on his right hand.
He shifted his gaze away after a single look, refocusing on the player beside him.
The player displayed his potions through his communicator, "I have all kinds of potions here, whether you’re injured or poisoned, I can’t guarantee resurrection, but at least let you be lively and find a place to rest in peace before you die!"
Xu Huo smiled, "You definitely weren’t in sales before, were you?"
"Haha, you’re right, I’m not good with words, I’d only be at the bottom of sales," the player said with a chuckle. "But hey, everyone wants a peaceful burial; no one wants their corpse to be desecrated after death."
Xu Huo looked at him, "Have you thought about finding yourself a good resting place before trying to sell your potions?"
The player immediately backed away, "Brother, business is business, but let’s part on good terms. I’ll find someone else."
This person had a keen sense of things; he didn’t approach the players at the station who looked dangerous but managed to sell ten potions successfully to a few approachable players and then waited quietly for the train.
After a while, a good-looking female player arrived at the station. A few players gathered to chat with her, asking which station she was getting off at.
The female player chatted and joked with them without revealing much but bought quite a few potions.
"The beauty is generous, I’ll give you two more bottles," the potion-selling player said with a beaming smile.
The train was still some time away. Seeing that he had started, a few other players traded potions and food. Xu Huo approached and bought some food at a higher price, then brought up the topic of expensive food on the train.
"The train is an outright rip-off," said the potion seller. "Limited menus, today’s special – it’s all a hoax. The profit on the train goes to the staff above us. How much we spend is how much they earn, of course, they’re going to push sales. I’ve tried it; honestly, the taste is nothing special."
It was clear that the few players gathered here for a chat were not very wealthy and didn’t know much about what he was talking about, so they could only nod in agreement.
This brief discussion divided the players in the station into two types: Those like Xu Huo’s group who wished to converse, and those who stood scattered at the edges of the station, seemingly indifferent to others.
However, while the potion-seller was bragging, two of the players showed signs of mockery. The remaining four—a good-looking female player, a person with missing index and middle fingers on their right hand, one meditating cross-legged, and the last one sweating profusely and smoking non-stop—showed no interest in them.
When the train arrived, it was a surprise that most of these people were in the same carriage. Xu Huo stood at the back of the carriage; apart from the meditating one, the other three were there.
Tapping his fingers on the table, he sat down behind the Player with the Broken Hand.
