Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 853: Cross the River and Tear Down the Bridge

Chapter 853: Chapter 853: Cross the River and Tear Down the Bridge

Black Epaulette had no shortage of members; even if a few left, there were plenty more to fill their ranks, so Xu Huo couldn’t bypass the sensors outside the door.

Just as he prepared to start a disturbance, a commotion erupted from inside the courtroom. Within seconds, the signal for the changing of the Black Epaulette squads echoed throughout the building. The Black Epaulettes standing at the door immediately split off, a third entering the building through different entrances.

What they hadn’t expected, however, was that some of them suddenly collapsed and died at the doorway.

The sudden deaths of their comrades halted the Black Epaulettes at the door, thinking an enemy was ahead, and so they used their props first.

Before any results came out of that, the few White Epaulettes planning to enter hastily retreated and said, "Mr. Werna and Captain Ran are inside; we’d only be a hindrance if we went in!"

As a few more Black Epaulettes died in front of everyone, panic spread through the onlooking crowd, who scattered in all directions. Amidst the chaos, a sensor was dislodged. Seizing this moment, Xu Huo slipped into the sensor’s range, slowly following behind a group of Black Epaulettes into the courtroom.

He faced no surprises as he delved deeper into the courtroom. Hiding in a corner, Xu Huo avoided the Black Epaulettes rushing back and forth until they thinned out before moving again.

The disturbance, as he had anticipated, didn’t last long. The Black Epaulettes quickly regained control, but several Black Epaulettes appearing mentally disturbed were carried out of the courtroom before the intermission began.

When the member of the Holy Sword Society emerged from the courtroom to head towards the break room, his helmet was gone, and his face had a new injury.

Standing at a distance, Xu Huo only glanced hastily, confirming the person’s appearance before heading to a custodian’s changing room in the back.

Not long after, voices came from outside—the Black Epaulettes had returned. "The prisoner needs the restroom; we’ve come to check. Has anyone entered?"

"No," replied the Black Epaulette in charge, "Only the women’s restroom is available."

"For safety’s sake, check the men’s restroom too," several Black Epaulettes said, inspecting both restrooms one more time before reporting back to Ran Ying.

Distinctive, slow footsteps soon approached, as if someone had stopped him momentarily, "Go to the side."

The other spoke smoothly, chuckling, "A gentleman shouldn’t enter the ladies’ restroom."

"The men’s restroom has no running water. Can a gentleman go without washing his hands?" Ran Ying strode over and said, "You go in, I’ll accompany you."

The man paused, "I think it’s inconvenient."

"If you think it’s inconvenient, you can hold it. I don’t mind," Ran Ying retorted.

She wasn’t the delicate sort, but the other wasn’t yielding either. "Do you still want me to speak later?"

Ran Ying quickly changed tack, sending two male subordinates with him into the restroom.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to fill the restroom with people; it was that the member of the Holy Sword Society was being uncooperative. With not much spoken, he’d already crippled a few Black Epaulettes, and those who had suddenly died were probably also related to him.

"Captain, this guy’s too brazen," someone said, "In my opinion, we should cut out his tongue."

"No rush," Ran Ying stated calmly, "Once we deal with the Mi Lai’er Family, it’ll be his turn."

After the member of the Holy Sword Society returned from the restroom, Ran Ying and several Black Epaulettes left together.

Only then did Xu Huo emerge from the changing room, avoiding the two remaining Black Epaulettes as he entered the women’s restroom.

He used pollen to identify which stalls had been used and inspected one thoroughly—the member of the Holy Sword Society hadn’t left anything behind.

The night before, he’d left small restroom tokens in lounges on either side, betting that the Black Epaulettes wouldn’t completely prevent the other from seeing. A bit more time and they’d surely notice, or at least it wouldn’t matter if they didn’t. But evidently, the other had purposefully headed for the restroom, indicating he must have seen the mark.

From there on, it was up to individual performance. If the other assumed the mark was left by a comrade coming to rescue him, it was best. Without meeting face-to-face, there was more room for maneuver.

Exchange of items—this was just one of the possibilities Xu Huo guessed.

With nothing found, he went next door to the other restroom.

How things were inside the courtroom he didn’t yet know, but the following hour outside was quiet. Half an hour later, the Black Epaulettes returned to the restroom.

Several Black Epaulettes, cursing and complaining, checked the ladies’ restroom before bringing the member of the Holy Sword Society back in.

Xu Huo stood behind the compartment he’d used earlier, opening his Mental Space to stick a ticket onto the wall.

After a pause, he also placed "The Hungry Gluttonous Snake" on himself.

He controlled his Psychic Power within a certain range to avoid alarming Ran Ying outside. To his surprise, a hand stretched out from the wall beside him, seemingly reaching for the ticket. But as it was about to touch, it suddenly turned and grabbed him instead!

Xu Huo maintained a two-meter distance from the wall, but in the moment the hand reached toward him, the distance abruptly shrank, pulling him toward the wall!

The "Like Repels Like" he wore didn’t work because of the wall in between. In an instant, he saw a Sword symbol, glowing red in the palm of the hand, and countered with his Diamond Gloves.

The gloves, not worn on Xu Huo’s hands at that moment, caused the other to instantly retract upon contact, taking the ticket with him.

Xu Huo looked at the Sword symbol also seared into the gloves and shook his head slightly. But in the next second, his expression changed as several Black Epaulettes burst in—never had he seen a bridge being dismantled before even crossing the river!

As he opened his Mental Space, Xu Huo flipped up to a window and leaped down, throwing a vial of gas poison into the restroom.

Temporarily stalling their pursuit, he donned his Invisibility Cloak, not bothering to hide his traces carefully anymore, but instead broke through the Black Epaulettes’ cordon. In the chase by the Black Epaulettes, he was driven into a building across the street.

A cloud of dust billowed as Xu Huo used the "Compulsory Forgetting" characteristic on those nearby. Utilizing "Standardized Weightlessness" to gain a few seconds, in the cover of the disorder, he discarded the Invisibility Cloak to reveal the Black Epaulette uniform beneath. With an ordinary face, he pretended to be supporting from the side and shouted to the others, "They went that way!"

He led a few Black Epaulettes and governmental players back toward the residence of a middle-aged woman. Rushing directly there at the highest speed, he burst inside and headed straight for the laundry room.

It wasn’t a true laundry room; there was space behind the wall. Xu Huo broke through the wall with his Sword, and the middle-aged woman, who was destroying documents on a table inside the hidden room, turned violently and shoved him!

Despite the distance, Xu Huo was struck as if by an invisible wall. His entire body was thrown backwards, caught by the Black Epaulettes who followed, "Brother, be careful!"
