Chapter 796 Outrageous Demands
Chapter 796: Chapter 796 Outrageous Demands
Tickets were traded through a designated drop-and-pick method, Xu Huo paid the money, and the seller would deposit the tickets somewhere and then inform him of the location; he would retrieve them with a password.
This was considered a relatively convenient and safe way to trade, and hidden spots for items could be anywhere – above a bus stop sign, or beneath a trash bin.
Xu Huo left Xiao Yuan at the hotel and went out to get the tickets himself.
Non-player tickets looked almost the same as player tickets, but the destinations were no longer copy points or names but specific game zones at certain stations; also, they didn’t depart from player platforms nearby.
On his way back, he also picked up two sets of children’s clothing to change into, as well as backpacks and hats.
Although she was almost ten years old, she was of modest height. Xu Huo took a prop skirt he had bought for Little Pink Hat and had her wear it.
Protective clothing like this generally had anti-corrosion and anti-poison functionalities, and if the material was even better, regular sharp weapons couldn’t cut through it, giving it pretty good defensive capabilities.
Non-player trains, in addition to regular customers, could also carry players who had temporarily suspended their player status. If the player status was suspended, other than reactivating the tickets, game panel props could no longer be used. However, the props themselves still possessed defense and attack power and could be wielded as ordinary tools.
Thus, not everyone on the train was completely harmless, but generally, it was similar to pre-game long-distance travel— with non-player trains being different from player trains—and fighting was explicitly prohibited.
Xu Huo specifically prepared a child’s wallet for Xiao Yuan, and also secretly placed some more money inside her clothing’s pocket before handing her a communicator from Zone 011 and sending her off.
After sorting this out, he began to track Jiang Jiang’s itinerary online.
Zone 009 was becoming increasingly chaotic, and with the incident of Jiang Jiang’s "assassination," and the fact that the other party knew he hadn’t left, she didn’t reduce her time out and about but instead scheduled an even tighter itinerary, seemingly giving more opportunities for exploit.
However, the number of players protecting her had increased, at least more than double what it was before. Looking from her fan website, there were even people sent by the Player Organization.
In other words, even though Jiang Jiang had presented herself as bait, getting close to her would be difficult.
However, there was an exhibition in the Capital City the day after tomorrow.
But Capital City enforced player control; borrowing props was manageable, but passing through the normal checkpoints to enter the city without an ID was a bit challenging.
"Knock knock!" someone knocked on the door at that moment.
Xu Huo got up to open the door and was met by a woman with flamboyant makeup but an exhausted look, who smiled and said, "Sir, would you like some special services?"
Xu Huo gave her a hundred White Notes, "Do you know where I can get documents processed?"
The woman stuffed the money into her bra and whispered, "I have just the channel for that, and the documents are one hundred percent verification supported, but it’ll take about five or six days..."
"Can it be done today?" Xu Huo interrupted her, "Price is not an issue."
The woman hesitated before responding, "I can’t make that decision, but if you’re in a hurry, I can take you straight there."
Xu Huo stepped out and closed the door behind him, "Let’s go."
The woman was stunned for a moment before smiling and leading the way ahead.
After crossing two streets, Xu Huo followed her into a small supermarket. The door to the storage room at the back was open, revealing a small gathering place for idle members of society.
Two men with tattooed arms were counting money, and another man with sunglasses perched on a couch, chewing gum with his feet propped up.
When they saw Xu Huo, all three paused their activities, and the woman quickly explained, "This gentleman wants to process ID documents, and he’s offering a good price."
The man with sunglasses waved his hand to stop her talking, "There are plenty of players wanting IDs. Pre-made IDs cost fifty thousand White Notes, thirty thousand for a five-day wait, twenty thousand for ten days. If you can pay, we make it; can’t pay, get lost."
Xu Huo counted out fifty thousand White Notes, "I want one that’s ready now."
The two tattooed men exchanged glances, and one got up to take the money; but Xu Huo was quicker to press down on the stack of White Notes, "The item."
The other took out an ID from the drawer, and the man with sunglasses said, "This ID is real; the person just died and they haven’t had time to update the information. It should be good for at least three months."
He said this while tossing a face mask, "Put this on, and you’ll look just like the person in the photo. You’ve used one before, right? It can only last a day."
Xu Huo pushed the ID back, "The ID I want is not of this kind, this one isn’t worth fifty thousand."
"You want a stamped ID?" the man with sunglasses chuckled, "That’s only for citizens recognized by both the government and Player Organization. It can’t be done without two hundred thousand White Notes."
Xu Huo’s hand swept over, and the White Notes on the table disappeared; he stood up, "Then there’s nothing to discuss."
"Bang!" The warehouse door automatically locked. In the next second, two rows of metal barriers shot up from the ground, enclosing a cage in the middle of the room.
The woman who had brought him had already left, the man with sunglasses and the two tattooed men took cover behind the desk and started firing at the cage, "No matter how fast a prop is, it can’t outspeed a gun..."
Pity he couldn’t finish his sentence as a cold light flashed twice in the room, and a row of cylindrical metals was sliced in half. The person trapped in the cage vanished in a blink, followed by the thud of two bodies hitting the floor!
The man with sunglasses’ complexion changed as he triggered a desk mechanism; poison filled the room instantly, and he made for the secret door, but as soon as one foot crossed the threshold, a Sword was at his throat!
"Gentlemen do not fight with fists!" the man with sunglasses shouted, and the sword resting on his shoulder slid down. However, he didn’t escape, for a thin wire had pierced his body, pinpointed right on his heart!
Xu Huo pulled the man back, breaking his right leg with a kick and stepping on his back, "Now let’s talk again about how much a stamped ID is worth."
"Worthless... it’s worthless... I have one on me, I’ll give it to you now..." as the man with sunglasses reached into his jacket, Xu Huo, unfazed, shot through his throat.
After the man fell, a miniature bomb rolled out of his hand.
Casually picking up the bomb and placing it under the body, with the other two corpses piled on top, Xu Huo erected an Air Barrier.
"Boom!" The miniature bomb’s kill radius wasn’t large, but it was still enough to blow the two or three bodies to pieces. To take fake document processing to this extent, not changing careers to become a terrorist would be a waste of talent.
Kicking aside the remains, Xu Huo pried open the office desk drawer and found two stamped IDs inside.
Stamped IDs had become a form of identification in Zone 009 after the game’s start; ordinary IDs could not freely enter secure areas, but stamped ones could. To enter Capital City, one needed an ID with such a stamp.
He glanced at the photo on the ID, then rummaged through the dead man’s belongings for a prop.
