"Acquaintances?" Xu Huo asked.

Bian Yongyi tried his best to stride with his short legs, "We had a bit of a feud before."

Xu Huo didn’t ask for details, but it was only when they arrived at the villa that they realized there was a car parked outside. Seeing them, a buzz cut young man waved at Bian Yongyi, "So you really managed to borrow a house. We’re staying here tonight, give me the keys."

Bian Yongyi’s face darkened, "Aren’t you with Young Master Xie? What, he didn’t even give you a place to stay?"

The buzz cut young man let out a cold laugh, "Well, Bian Yongyi, look at you, getting all brave. Forgot about the last time you were stuffed into a toilet and ate shit? Need me to refresh your memory?"

A vein popped on Bian Yongyi’s forehead, "This is a Level D Player’s villa under President Chang’s command, I borrowed it. You dare to stay?"

"Whether I dare or not is none of a dwarf’s business," the buzz cut young man stepped out of the car, clenching his fists as he walked over.

Instantly, Bian Yongyi moved a couple of steps behind Xu Huo.

The buzz cut young man snickered as if he had just noticed Xu Huo, "I was wondering how you grew some nerve, turns out you brought backup. You’re a Level D Player, what kind of high-level player could you possibly know? Don’t tell me he’s also a Level D Player!"

"So, what, you want to stand up for this midget?"

"Private grudges have nothing to do with me," Xu Huo paused then added, "I’m a bit curious, though, is what you said about pressing him into a toilet true?"

"As a player, your methods of bullying are not only lacking in novelty but also very unhygienic."

The buzz cut young man was quick-tempered and, upon hearing this, cursed at Xu Huo before lunging towards him.

There was a rule against fighting in the villa area, so Xu Huo grabbed Bian Yongyi and moved towards the villa’s entrance. Taking the keys from his hand, Xu Huo opened the door. After they entered, he attempted to lock the others out.

However, one of the players from the car was quick to act, instantly moving in front of the door, hand pressing against the door panel. Unfortunately, just as he was about to speak, he was pushed out by Xu Huo’s "Like Repels Like" potion, followed by a loud "bang" as the door slammed shut.

"Fuck!" the buzz cut young man turned around and cursed, "Bian Yongyi, you better come out here, or I’ll kill you!"

Inside the door, Xu Huo looked around the well-secured villa and said, "They probably don’t have the guts to damage the villa. Go wash up and sleep."

Bian Yongyi looked at him in amazement, "Just like that?"

"Unless you want to go out there and fight them to the death," Xu Huo walked straight to the living room, ignoring the curses outside.

After hesitating for a moment, Bian Yongyi decided not to respond to the yelling outside. He steeled himself and found a guest room to sleep in.

The buzz cut young man’s cursing did not last long before it faded away, not sure if security personnel from the villa area had come or if his companions stopped him. After the sound of the car faded away, the area returned to peace.

The next day, perhaps from a night of poor sleep, Bian Yongyi came down very early and peered out the windows and doors. When Xu Huo came downstairs, Bian Yongyi quickly asked, "No ambush outside, right?"

"No one," Xu Huo said, opening the empty fridge, "Got anything to eat?"

Bian Yongyi brought out some bread and jerky, "This is all we have now. If you want something better, we’ll have to go out. The villa area doesn’t allow delivery."

Xu Huo casually took a few bites, flipping through Jiang Jiang’s social media account. When he saw a selfie she posted of herself painting by the window, he took a sip of water and stood up, "I’m going to pay a visit to the neighbor."

Bian Yongyi also stood up, stuffing the bread into his mouth haphazardly, "I’ll go too."

Xu Huo wasn’t concerned, he found the villa where Jiang Jiang resided based on the angle of the photo, and rang the doorbell under the watchful eye of two players on the second floor.

The door was opened by a youth with long hair. Upon opening the door, he sized up Xu Huo from top to bottom, then asked with a dark expression, "Who are you looking for?"

"I’m here to visit Jiang Jiang; she invited me over before," said Xu Huo.

"The invitation you’re talking about was probably just something she said in passing to show goodwill. But you showing up the very next day – how is that behavior any different from a stalker?" The long-haired youth was very hostile toward him.

Xu Huo smiled, "Why don’t you ask Jiang Jiang?"

The long-haired youth then reluctantly stepped aside, giving Bian Yongyi a disdainful look as he did so, "Jiang Jiang is having breakfast."

Xu Huo followed him to the dining room, where he saw Jiang Jiang, who was surprised and gladly approached, "I didn’t expect we would meet again so soon!"

"I left in such a hurry yesterday, I didn’t even get your name!"

"I’m Xu Zhi," Xu Huo looked earnestly into her eyes.

Jiang Jiang’s eyes curved into a smile, her grin carrying an innocence that adults lacked, "My name is Jiang Jiang, so now that we’ve met, we’re friends. Have you had breakfast yet? Song Xu prepared too much food, and I said I wouldn’ be able to finish it... If you don’t mind, you guys can join me."

Bian Yongyi, flattered by the invitation, especially when faced with Jiang Jiang’s smiley face, excitedly declared, "Miss Jiang Jiang, I absolutely love your paintings, I’m a huge fan!"

"Thank you." Jiang Jiang invited them to sit down and then said to the long-haired youth with a dark expression, "Song Xu, could you pass me the milk, please?"

Song Xu himself carried the milk over to pour for Xu Huo and the other guest, and then dutifully stood behind Jiang Jiang.

Besides him, there were three other players on the first floor of the villa, separately positioned in the kitchen, the living room, and on the balcony by the dining room, quietly not looking like free players who had come to offer protection on their own accord but like skilled bodyguards who had been hired.

"Try this sweet cake, Song Xu made it especially for me; I’ve been getting chubby eating this every day," Jiang Jiang enthusiastically shared her favorite food.

"Have I?" Jiang Jiang lifted her arm, "But I feel I’ve gotten fatter. Is our electronic scale broken?"

"Not at all," Song Xu quickly replied, "Painting takes a lot of energy, it’s okay to eat more sweets."

"Eating too many sweets isn’t good for your health," Xu Huo said while picking up a piece of the sweet cake, "Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats are best for the human body."

"That’s too bad," Jiang Jiang shook her head, "I don’t like vegetables."

"Nowadays, there are many potions that can replace the nutrients of vegetables, so not eating them is not a big deal, being happy is what’s most important," Bian Yongyi immediately chimed in.

Jiang Jiang glanced at Xu Huo, "The taste of nutrient supplements is even worse, I might as well change that."

Having said that, she turned back to Song Xu with a smile, "Now you don’ have to worry."

Song Xu’s expression visibly relaxed.

Having finished the sweet cake on his plate, Xu Huo took the chance to check his mail. The second detective had sent a message: another girl who had immigrated overseas had changed her name following her adoptive parents to Liu Yi, studying at a very famous art school abroad.
