Chapter 648 Tracking and Threatening
Chapter 648: Chapter 648 Tracking and Threatening
Gu Yu’s situation wasn’t good; they, along with some other isolated players, were trapped in a building.
The Aliens weren’t just zombies that could move around on the ground; they had a strong ability to climb and jump and even knew how to search floor by floor, drawn by the scent of humans. Their only option was to hide in rooms with smaller windows, such as bathrooms.
Now, as the Special Defense Department was concentrating its efforts to shrink the quarantine zone, the number of nearby Aliens was increasing, and they had missed their best chance to escape.
"Special Defense Department’s rescue helicopters kept hovering nearby but couldn’t find a place to land because the Aliens would follow the helicopters," said Gu Yu. "I don’t know why they aren’t shooting at the Aliens."
Xu Huo didn’t tell her that those mutated people could still be saved. After confirming the location, he drove there.
The sound of the car attracted the nearby Aliens, so they encountered some on the way. However, there weren’t many, and the car could plow through them easily.
But as time passed, the Aliens in the vicinity started to gather in groups. Xu Huo, driving and looking around, saw too many buildings to keep track of everything. He asked the Girl in the painting, "Is anyone following us?"
The Girl in the painting pointed outside in confusion, as if to ask weren’t those Aliens people?
Xu Huo paused for a moment, then casually took out a piece of paper and placed it on the steering wheel.
After using the trait "Completed Script," words began to appear out of nowhere on it:
"...When Xu Huo drove away, he didn’t notice the One-Eyed owl on the tree, with its other eye gouged out and a fake one put in its place."
"The owl followed the car until Xu Huo drove a new vehicle into the checkpoint before flying away."
...
"As the number of Aliens around the car increased, Xu Huo realized that this was not normal. While searching the surroundings, he failed to pay attention to a player hiding within the Different Species Group who had just climbed onto the roof..."
"Shrrk!"
Before the words could finish appearing, a Sword pierced through the roof of the car towards the driver’s seat, the abrasive sound of metal friction was ear-piercing, accompanied by sparks flying!
"Screech—!" Xu Huo dodged the Sword and braked hard, using the inertia to throw the person off, but unexpectedly, that person’s hand stuck to the hood with a secretion from his palm, which not only stopped his fall but also helped him to leap back onto the car, lunging with a sword towards the Girl in the painting!
The assailant looked no different from the Aliens, and the only noticeable difference was his eyes at this moment. Although he attacked the Girl in the painting, his attention was on Xu Huo, throwing a mini bomb with his other hand.
He probably thought Xu Huo would first try to save the Girl in the painting to create a time lag, which, even if it did not kill him, should at least injure him.
Unfortunately for him, Xu Huo didn’t play by the rules; he instantly kicked open the car door and jumped out the moment the player swung his sword.
The player’s expression stiffened, his eyes filled with scorn. As he was about to follow, one end of the sword suddenly got stuck in the car glass!
"Bang!" The mini bomb destroyed the car cabin, and the player was blown away. As he stumbled back, he saw the Girl in the painting who had been sitting in the passenger seat grab the tip of his sword and get pulled out with it!
The man sheathed his prop sword and switched to a gun, but after several shots, the bullets seemed to sink into a sponge without any reaction. In the next second, he was pinned to the ground by a combination of being struck in the chest by a kneeling blow and slapped across the face.
After being slapped several times, he snapped back to his senses and, in a fit of anger, he toppled the woman on top of him. She flipped over his head, but immediately his hair was clutched and tugged wildly as the woman feigned crying and shaking his head, her mouth open wide yet with no sound of weeping.
"Fuck!" The Alien man grabbed her wrist and twisted it, conjuring a dagger, but as soon as he raised his hand, it was severed at the wrist. While he screamed in pain, a shadow suddenly charged from a distance, and with the crisp sound of bones breaking, he was flung several meters away, rolling across the ground, then swarmed by the encroaching Different Species Group!
"Borderline!" The group of Different Species was repelled by a visible shockwave, and the bloodied Alien man turned to flee, only to change color after just two steps—he didn’t realize when a fine wire had pierced through his chest!
The wire was connected to his heart.
Instead of using his Tickets to flee, the Alien man turned and faced Xu Huo, "Don’t you want to know your brother’s whereabouts?"
Xu Huo’s expression faltered, but then he heard the man continue, "Do you dare to let me die? If I die, your kid brother will be handed over to traffickers, he might get sold to some perverts with sick tastes, or possibly be raised as an organ donor. I heard you used to gamble, want to bet?"
The Alien man stood still with his arms raised high, confidently closing his eyes in the face of the swarming Different Species.
Xu Huo’s face was grim as he yanked the kite string, lifting the man and dashing towards the tallest nearby building.
Far from worrying about his situation, the Alien man taunted him instead, "Yes, run like that, better to get out of the blockade. I’m safe, and your brother can live well!"
Xu Huo stayed silent, pulling himself up to the rooftop with the piano wire a few times. When his feet touched the ground, he didn’t pull the Alien man up with him but left him hanging outside the 200-meter-high rooftop fence, swaying in the wind.
Dangling in midair, the Alien man could see Xu Huo standing on the fence and laughed heartily, "Using such tricks to coerce a player? As soon as my signal is gone, that kid will be delivered straight into the hands of traffickers..."
The man standing on the fence suddenly loosened his grip, and the fine wire in his hand disappeared along with it.
The remaining words of threat were scattered by the wind before they could be finished. The Alien man fell in shock, then became extremely angry. He quickly tore a button from his clothes and crushed it, shouting towards the sky, "Go to hell and find him!"
"Looks like this is the signal." Xu Huo’s voice suddenly rang out from behind him.
The Alien man struggled to turn his head, only to realize that Xu Huo was falling with him, oddly unaffected by the airflow, looking as if he was neatly dressed even in the descent.
In stark contrast, the Alien man, his features distorted by the wind, looked particularly wretched as he saw the supposed-to-be ash transmitter intact in Xu Huo’s hand!
His complexion changed once more as he reached out into midair, grabbing at nothing several times, repeating the previous action with increasing panic on his face.
"Can’t escape into the game now?" Xu Huo, maintaining the same falling speed as the Alien man, said with a smile, "You don’t think a player’s abilities never disappear, do you?"
The Alien man became terrified, "It’s your doing!"
Xu Huo’s demeanor remained the same, but his voice was cold, "I find you people really amusing, using such low tactics like kidnapping kids to threaten others and feeling proud of it. What, do you think you can’t die?"
