Chapter 619: Chapter 619: Do Not Recommend Reading Rules
Facing the open door, a player with a dark expression said, "Of all the instances, I hate hospital ones the most, and there’s also a mission to steal bacteria samples. This means we’re definitely going to encounter an infectious disease. With diseases like that, even if you clear the game, you’re not guaranteed a cure."
Most of them had been led to this place by Gu Yu and her group, and for a moment, everyone looked at them with eyes full of murderous intent.
Zheng Liang sneered, "That’s your own damn fault. Isn’t it you all who chased us here? If anyone’s been dragged into this, it’s us!"
The other players’ eyes widened. Now, there were some slight changes to Zheng Liang’s makeup under the lighting, making his face look a bit different from Xu Huo’s in the photos and videos. A Cannibal Player charged over and slammed him into the outpatient building, while two other players attacked Gu Yu and Wen Xuelin respectively.
Brother Liang and Guan Zuhong next to them took action. The former threw a soap-shaped object on the ground, and the two charging Cannibal Players came to a halt in a strange pose. One of them stepped on the soap and slid forward, flipping over.
Brother Liang’s group took advantage of the chaos to enter the hospital, joining forces to repel the Cannibal Player attacking Zheng Liang. The five retreated behind the information desk and confronted the players who were pouring in.
"You intentionally disguised yourselves as Xu Huo to lure us here! It seems you’ve known there was an instance here all along, dogs of the Special Defense Department!" snarled the first Cannibal Player who acted, not at all hiding his identity. His torn clothes revealed the red number on his back. He simply tore off his sleeve together with the cloth, showing a large scar on his arm.
"You’re just stupid," Zheng said. "I had intended to bait the real Xu Huo, but instead of him showing up, you idiots did!"
Gu Yu quietly tugged at his sleeve from below, signaling him not to provoke these people any further. However, Zheng Liang couldn’t hold back his taunts, "No way, are you getting angry from embarrassment, ready to kill people now? If you kill us, are you going to kill everyone else who saw your dumb ass get tricked?"
Although they knew he was trying to drive a wedge among them, some of the players present changed their indifferent demeanor. Anything could happen inside an instance, and if they let the Cannibal Player kill Zheng Liang and the others, it would indirectly reduce their own constraints, which wasn’t a good thing for the other players.
"The last thing you want in an instance is infighting. I think we should avoid interfering with each other and talk about it after we clear the instance," a delicate-looking female player suggested.
"Is it your place to speak, woman?" The scarred player stepped and turned towards her, but then two players standing behind the female player stepped forward, and the three of them faced off.
"Let’s all calm down. We can’t leave once we’re in the instance," the middle-aged man with blue eyes said soothingly, trying to pacify everyone. "Let’s first get familiar with the hospital."
"Is it your turn to speak here, foreigner?" Zheng Liang retorted irritably. "Coming to our turf to play peacemaker, do you think you’re that important?"
The middle-aged man’s expression darkened as he held back his companions, "Friend, we’ve lived here for many years, even changed our nationalities. You could at least maintain basic courtesy."
"I saw the video online. The reason this Special Defense Department incident blew up is that foreign powers got involved." The female player scrutinized the ten people. "Xu Huo hasn’t shown up, the Special Defense Department started the fight; this has gone beyond personal grudges between player and Player Organization, becoming a struggle between nations."
"I’ve been annoyed by these people for a long time," a player said immediately. "At the very least, we’ve also contributed to our country. Let’s deal with them first!"
The situation had suddenly changed again, but there was still mutual wariness, and none of the parties had the confidence to make a move. Just then, a scolding voice interrupted them, "What are you doing blocking the way here? Fighting will get you locked up in a single room for special treatment!"
The scolder was a head nurse, walking over with two female nurses, holding wristbands in her hand and speaking loudly, "Get in line now. If the wards are not assigned before dinner, none of you will eat..."
She hadn’t finished speaking when a knife, thrown by someone unknown, severed her neck.
Blood spurted out, and the head nurse’s head dangled from her neck.
The two nurses beside her showed no expression and made no response. A second later, the head nurse, her clothes soaked in blood on one side, put her own head back in place and coldly stared at a player in the crowd, "Congratulations, on your admission you’ve won a three-day special treatment package. Security Guard, take him to the seventh floor."
Several burly uniformed personnel emerged from the depths of the corridor and pounced on the player like hungry wolves, wrestling him to the ground and fitting a specially made muzzle over his head before twisting him up the stairs.
Throughout, the player struggled continuously and even took out two items, but they seemed to have no effect, falling to the ground. A nurse walked over to pick up the toy-like items, her face stern, "Toys can still hurt people. If you have toys on you too, hand them all over, or else you’ll be locked up in a single room!"
Everyone watched the player being forcibly taken upstairs, uncertain and astonished. The items actually had no effect?
Some players didn’t believe it and tried their own items stealthily, only to be discovered by the head nurse a second later. Two nurses searched them; those players tried to take their items back but couldn’t, and ended up having their items forcibly taken before being escorted upstairs by the Security Guards who had arrived afterward.
"What’s going on?" the players were taken aback. They hadn’t seen any special maneuvers from those Security Guards, "Could this hospital interfere with the game’s personal panel?"
"That’s impossible." The delicate female player said, "Didn’t you see the game background when you came in? The hospital doesn’t welcome patients with rich imaginations. This instance might involve mental control."
Under the head nurse’s orders and the supervision of the Security Guards, the players started lining up to receive wristbands. It was then that a player noticed a list of hospital rules on the wall beside them.
"First, it is not recommended that patients read these rules." Someone read the first rule and sneered, "Why post it here if we can’t read it?"
Many people thought the same and continued reading. The rules included detailed schedules for medical staff and patients, down to the minute for medication, injections, and rest times, and further detailing family visitation times, opportunities for patient visits, and reward measures for increased visitation times.
Patients had allotted times for recreational activities, could request to purchase items from the hospital, and were encouraged to love work and maintain hygiene, with a cultural performance once a week.
"This hospital is no different from being in prison," said Zheng Liang.
Brother Liang quickly skimmed the rules and then focused his attention on the first one before subtly signaling to Gu Yu and Wen Xuelin to stop reading further.
