Chapter 225: Chapter 225: The Bastard Stabs as Soon as He Comes Up
"Let’s assign the rooms now," Xie Man said. "I’ve already looked, and in the deepest part of the art gallery, just past this largest Madonna painting, there are rooms on both sides, twelve in total."
"But the layout of these rooms is a bit peculiar," she said. "Looking at it in conjunction with this exhibition hall, the whole art gallery looks like the letter ’T’ of an art body. There are four rooms on each side horizontally, and at each end, there is a passage parallel to the exhibition hall, each with two rooms. All the room doors face the murals on the interior walls of the art gallery."
The description wasn’t vivid enough, so everyone went to check the room layout for themselves. Fan Shiji complained, "Doesn’t this look just like a standing person with arms outstretched and hands drooping down? If the big mural in the middle extended forward a bit more and popped out a head, the shape would be the spitting image of a dead man nailed to the Cross."
Xu Huo glanced at him, "You really know how to speak of good fortune."
Fan Shiji, seeing that others were all giving him cold stares, said sheepishly, "Pretend I didn’t say that."
"There are twelve rooms in total, how shall we arrange them?" Deng Yu looked around at everyone, shrugged his shoulders, and said, "To be honest, nobody wants to stay in those four rooms on the sides, right?"
The corridor of the rooms was about ten meters wide, but the rooms on both sides were recessed, so the distance from the room doors to the mural was upwards of twenty meters, completely tucked away in the corner.
"You guys do as you please, I’m definitely not going," the gloomy man said. "Besides, I don’t want to share a room with anyone."
"Who would want to share a room with you?" Xie Man said discontentedly. "Since nobody wants to go to the rooms in the two corners, there are only eight rooms left. You want to monopolize one, what gives you the right?"
The gloomy man touched the flesh pit on his chin and smirked ominously, "It’s fine if you want to squeeze into a room with me, but who knows if you’ll still be able to walk out tomorrow morning."
"You..." Xie Man was provoked, but Pan Siming stretched out his hand to block her, "There are plenty of rooms, why fight over this trivial matter?"
"Yeah, the rooms here are pretty big. Two or three people in one room is no problem," Ni Tian said. "If not on the beds, we can sleep on the sofas or the floor."
After she finished speaking, she took the initiative to walk up to Xu Huo and Fan Shiji, "Can I share a room with you two handsome guys?"
Fan Shiji blushed, feeling somewhat embarrassed. "We’re both grown men, it wouldn’t be right."
Ni Tian looked back and forth between them and grabbed Xu Huo, who was burlier. "Handsome, can I stay with you?"
Xu Huo turned his head to look at her and smiled, "Sure."
A flash of surprise appeared in Fan Shiji’s eyes as he scanned Xu Huo’s face before looking away.
"Lucky man," Deng Yu sent Xu Huo an ambiguous look.
Pan Siming, standing nearby, moved his lips but said nothing.
"I like it quiet. I can stay in the last room," the leather-clad woman said.
The other players were somewhat puzzled by her choice, and a sense of alertness also rose within them. However, the leather-clad woman clearly had no desire to chat and went straight to the right corridor.
After hearing the sounds of doors opening and closing, the other players began to choose their rooms.
Pan Siming took the first room on the left side, Deng Yu and Big Bear the second on the left, Fan Shiji the third on the left, You Huanhuan and Lu Gang the fourth on the left.
The gloomy man took the first room on the right side, Xie Man the second on the right, Xu Huo and Ni Tian the third on the right, Gao Jun the fourth on the right.
The rooms were temporarily assigned like this.
"What time should we come out tonight?" Pan Siming asked again.
"Lights out is at nine, so let’s come out at nine," Deng Yu said. "My phone has already been switched to game time."
"I suggest we wait a bit," Pan Siming said. "Even though this level asks us to find paintings, it doesn’t mean there’s no danger. Let’s wait half an hour after lights out and confirm that there’s no movement outside before we act."
Xie Man couldn’t help but glance at him, "Who are you to decide when anyone comes out? Whether early or late, can you actually stop them?"
Pan Siming smiled, "I’m just making a suggestion. My initial intention is for everyone’s safety. It’s always better to have more people than fewer."
"I think you make sense," Xu Huo spoke up at this time. "Didn’t the game say not to wander around after lights out? Do you remember on the preliminary trial train, we were also reminded not to turn on the lights or go to other carriages? There’s a meaning behind these instructions."
"Right," Deng Yu nodded, looking as if he had just realized something significant, "We should be careful. How about we come up with a code? If someone feels it’s safe, they can knock twice on the door."
"Hmph!" the gloomy man suddenly let out a cold laugh at this moment. "Are you that afraid of letting others know you’re going out?"
"Don’t forget, there might not be twelve fake paintings in the exhibition hall."
After he finished speaking, he glanced around at everyone before entering his own room.
Deng Yu inevitably felt a bit embarrassed. "He’s right though," he said.
No one responded, and everyone returned to their respective rooms.
Xu Huo closed the door, then opened it again, holding onto the handle until just before nine. When the main lights in the exhibition area went out, he then securely closed the door.
The main lights went out at nine, but the small lights on the columns still cast light on the murals, albeit dimmer. Only the mural directly opposite the exhibition hall was slightly clearer, while the corridors on both sides leading to the second room’s door had been completely engulfed in darkness, not to mention the rear corner.
The room was brightly lit, but there were no windows.
After thoroughly checking all the corners, he sat down, fiddling with a lighter while staring at the woman by the bed.
Ni Tian was lying askew on the bed, propping her head with one hand and patting the space in front of her with the other, "Come on up, ’lil bro," she said.
Xu Huo didn’t move. She let out a coquettish laugh and sat up, pulling her jacket to the sides to reveal her shoulders and slightly turning to show off her number. "Don’t be so serious, we players live on borrowed time anyway. Isn’t it better to enjoy the moment?"
Xu Huo’s gaze lingered on her shoulder for a moment before he got up and walked toward her.
Ni Tian smiled satisfactorily and stood up, reaching out both hands toward him. But before she could hook them around Xu Huo’s neck, he grabbed her with one hand and twisted her arm behind her back, pinning her down on the bed.
"What are you doin..." Ni Tian’s words of challenge were not yet finished when she saw a cold glint flash by her side. Her right arm jerked upward, and after her shoulder bone clicked out of its socket, she used her body to knock the person behind her and flip them over!
Xu Huo, struck by the unexpected force, stumbled back a few steps. By that time, Ni Tian had already leaped from the bed, swiftly resetting her arm, and cursed, "Son of a bitch stabs me the moment I get up. I had planned to give you one last pleasure before you died. Now, this lady will torture you to death!"
Before her words had finished, she kicked a chair behind her and lunged at Xu Huo like a wild beast!
Xu Huo shifted his feet but didn’t dodge. Instead, as she closed in, he sidestepped and landed a kick to her side, slamming her against the wall. He quickly followed up with a knee strike but was evaded by Ni Tian who rolled away.
She clung to the wall-mounted lamp, flipping upward like a gecko to avoid the assault, and then pounced down again, pushing Xu Huo to the ground. She opened her mouth to bite at his neck, but the very short distance was not enough to reach him.
