Chapter 1242: Chapter 1243: Spatial Evolver
Such an obvious provocation, Xue Lang turned a deaf ear and instead said, "Of all the people Doctor Zhang trained, was there no one who wanted to kill him?"
"Where is he?" Xu Huo showed no interest in Doctor Zhang’s other "disciples." Since Xue Lang had no involvement in Xu Zhi’s death, any further talk was futile.
However, Xue Lang changed his tone again. "Why should I tell you?"
As if his earlier suggestion was just to whet his appetite.
"You must have other reasons for coming to District 001. I heard that Hengxing Group lost some experimental data. Is it related to you?" Xu Huo suddenly introduced another topic.
Xue Lang’s expression did not change. He replied nonchalantly, "What if it is? What if it isn’t?"
"The fact that you’re still in District 001 and haven’t left probably means you haven’t completed your task yet," Xu Huo said, smiling. "A ready-made target, I’m sure both Hengxing Group and the Game Government Base would be interested in you. It’s not hard to locate a single player in District 001, and there might even be a Super Player stationed here."
"Catching you might not be certain, but if you want to achieve anything else, it will likely be difficult."
Xue Lang stared at him darkly. "You’ve been like this since we were kids—always running to tattle."
"The method doesn’t have to be advanced. As long as it works," Xu Huo said indifferently. "Why don’t you just tell me where Doctor Zhang is, and I won’t report you to the Game Government. How about that?"
Xue Lang let out a sneering laugh. "That depends on whether you can make it out of this instance."
As he spoke, sixteen rays of light closed in from four directions—front, back, left, and right—at close range.
Previously, Xu Huo would have needed the rays to be very close to him to sense them visually. But after another Spatial Evolution and gaining finer control over the Spatial Rays, he noticed when Xue Lang subtly manipulated the rays to approach him. His Spiritual World had been constantly covering the area, and after transferring Mu Yan and the other two away, he reduced the range of his psychic power’s coverage while trying to use his condensed psychic power to interfere with the rays.
He almost succeeded.
The reason it was only "almost" was that the long strand formed by psychic power managed to tug at Xue Lang’s Spatial Rays, but it only lasted a fleeting moment before snapping apart.
Xue Lang noticed and pulled out four rays to block Xu Huo’s path forward. At the same time, he teleported to Xu Huo’s rear and formed a palm with his hand, stabbing it through the air toward Xu Huo’s heart!
There was no need for the hand to physically strike Xu Huo. The moment he stabbed forward, a semi-transparent, glove-like object shot through Xu Huo’s back like an arrow!
"Hmph!" Xue Lang snorted coldly when he saw this scene, slashing backward and diagonally. The same semi-transparent material, seemingly like a barrier, transformed into a long blade spanning several dozen meters, capable of slicing through space itself!
Utilizing a fake image to feint, Xu Huo stepped back to evade the blade and rays. Opening a portal, he shifted his position and used items like "Death of the Holder" and "Horizontal Cut." Unfortunately, for someone as adept in Spatial Evolution as Xue Lang, it was as simple as erecting a barrier between them to render these items almost ineffective. Even if they had some effect, he could avoid or counteract them with his abilities or items.
Of course, while Xu Huo couldn’t penetrate Xue Lang’s defensive perimeter, Xue Lang also failed to capture Xu Huo. On one hand, Xu Huo also possessed Spatial Evolution powers, giving him the upper hand in counteracting items. On the other hand, his evolution in the realm of spiritual power compensated for his shortcomings in advanced items and combat capabilities.
After several minutes of combat, numerous walls in the maze were destroyed, yet neither had gained the upper hand.
But then Xu Huo suddenly realized his movements had become sluggish—not only his movements but even the air surrounding him seemed to thicken. As he tried to move, it felt like he was trapped in mud, expending more effort but achieving less.
His speed was severely diminished, while Xue Lang remained unaffected, flashing in front of him and stabbing forward again!
This time, Xu Huo was not as fortunate. Although he quickly opened a Mental Portal, he was still stabbed in his left shoulder!
The damage inflicted by the Spatial Blade was far beyond that of ordinary items. Xu Huo conjured a library to temporarily imprison Xue Lang and then donned his "Agile Mechanical Suit." Almost as soon as the suit was in place, Xue Lang reappeared behind him and scored another strike on his back!
Fortunately, this time, the suit held.
However, the misfortune was that when Xue Lang’s hand directly touched the mechanical suit, the metal armor disintegrated like dried cloth, crumbling into fragments. Then, from his palm, another Spatial Blade extended, piercing through Xu Huo’s shoulder blade!
Xu Huo immediately concentrated his psychic power to open portals in front and behind himself, narrowly avoiding the attack. Using items, he maneuvered two hundred meters away.
But a distance of two hundred meters meant nothing to Xue Lang; he was almost instantly upon Xu Huo again, employing the same deadly tactics.
A spiraling staircase rose abruptly, whisking Xu Huo away and carrying him higher into the air.
"You think that’s enough to escape?" Xue Lang glanced upwards, manipulating the rays in his hand to slice the staircase in half. As the rays danced, the ascending staircase crashed down, pulling Xu Huo back to the ground!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Three Spatial Blades, each two fingers wide, pinned Xu Huo against the distant maze wall!
Trapped within mutant plants, Xu Huo startled the vegetation into attacking en masse, only for them to collide with the embedded Spatial Blades and be severed, scattering remnants everywhere.
Narrowing his eyes, Xue Lang stared at the maze wall and sliced it open, letting Xu Huo fall out. Yet Xu Huo, contrary to Xue Lang’s expectations, was not dead. Instead, he tumbled to the ground, grievously wounded.
Xue Lang was extremely cautious. Before Xu Huo could stand, he descended with Spatial Blades raining from above. Eight strikes pinned Xu Huo to the ground, securing him!
