Chapter 1205: Chapter 1205 Congratulations on obtaining "Mutant Plant Amity" card.
Fine, needle-like rain shot onto the barrier only to ricochet back, forcing the white-clothed man retreating from the wrong passage into a frantic scramble. He tried to sidestep, but was promptly struck at the waist by Da Hu with a follow-up slash.
Although the slash didn’t cause severe injury, it disrupted the white-clothed man’s defensive barrier and suit, leaving him furious. His eyes blazed as he hurled a Giant Door Prop—a standing metallic door. While unable to block the passage completely, it formed an impenetrable shield on the left, right, and top. Da Hu, frustrated after multiple attempts with other props couldn’t break through, became visibly enraged and barked toward Xu Huo and Lin Qian, who hadn’t gone far ahead: "He’s definitely holding a Flower Card—don’t let anyone else get it!"
This single sentence pulled the previously uninvolved duo into the fray.
It wasn’t hard to guess that the white-clothed man had the Flower Card. This was apparent from the start of the instance. The game rules clearly stated that maze walls corresponding to card faces could only be traversed by cardholders.
The white-clothed man was the first to go through, with three more players able to follow. "The first card is a Flower Card, allowing direct entry to the nearest correct passage" matched perfectly with his actions.
Although the game rules didn’t provide more details on the Flower Card, with only six out of a total of 54 cards being Flower Cards, their importance was obvious even without knowing their exact properties.
Evidently, Da Hu understood this as well, which is why he immediately chased after the white-clothed man without hesitation.
Attempting a sneak kill to steal the card failed, leading Da Hu to forcibly involve Xu Huo and Lin Qian—but this plan failed too, as the white-clothed man was abruptly pierced through the heart by a vine that suddenly grew out of the maze wall!
The white-clothed man’s corpse slipped to the ground, while the two players responsible for creating barriers withdrew after completing their kill.
"Looks like the instance doesn’t reveal when someone obtains a second card," Xu Huo muttered as he faced the two players rushing toward him. He immediately erected multiple Spatial Barriers within the passage, blocking potential Hidden Weapons emerging from the maze wall. Then he activated "Life’s Burden" to increase the gravity in the entire passage.
In the same environment, Xu Huo moved more effortlessly compared to others due to his evolutionary ability for space manipulation. He stepped forward between the two players, used "This Way is Blocked" to separate them, then activated the "Grasping Gloves" to grab one of them remotely and slam them into the maze wall.
This triggered a mechanism within the maze wall. A massive flower suddenly burst forth from the foliage, its gaping maw snapping shut as it bit off the player’s head!
Technically speaking, this player wasn’t directly killed by Xu Huo, so when he died, his card became an unclaimed item, merging back into the maze wall to be redistributed.
However, the giant Man-Eating Flower, having tasted blood, grew increasingly frenzied. Numerous vines whipped toward Xu Huo while the flower itself plunged straight down from above, aiming to consume his head in the same manner!
Xu Huo unsheathed the "Cake Cutter" and adjusted its angle slightly, slicing the massive flower and its stem cleanly into two halves. As the Man-Eating Flower collapsed, two cards emerged in front of him: a White Card with the number 9 and a Black Card labeled Flower Scepter.
The Black Card: Flower Scepter was likely the first card obtained by the white-clothed man. Although securing two consecutive cards at once didn’t alter the Flower Card’s content, the floral icon beneath the "9" on the White Card began to glow faintly.
Xu Huo refrained from examining the numerical card for now and turned to deal with the other player. But Lin Qian had already eliminated them.
While Xu Huo was battling the mutant plant, Lin Qian had used a sticky ball to trap the remaining player against the maze wall. Because Xu Huo had previously triggered the maze wall’s mechanism, she faced no trouble herself. The sticky ball effectively restrained the plant growth, binding the vigorous vines into a ball, which conveniently immobilized the player.
With a sudden shout of "Self-Stabbing Eyes," the trapped player uncontrollably raised two fingers and jabbed them towards their own eyes. Though they managed to intercept themselves and deploy protective props, avoiding actual blindness, the brief lapse presented a fatal opportunity.
Lin Qian seized the moment to kill them.
Da Hu, freed earlier when the white-clothed man died, was slower in action compared to Xu Huo and Lin Qian, and could only watch helplessly as they claimed the cards.
As the duo’s attention shifted to her, Lin Qian wasted no time announcing, "I’ve got a Black Card with the number 14."
"Does the card show any changes?" Da Hu pressed.
Lin Qian tapped her personal interface, causing her silhouette to vanish abruptly, even the Cubic Space barriers failing to contain her!
Xu Huo quickly followed, but she stopped almost immediately.
Landing nearly simultaneously with Xu Huo, Lin Qian discreetly frowned, saying, "Black Card 14 allows correct advancement for 200 meters."
Da Hu, now arrived, turned his focus to Xu Huo. "What’s the effect of the Flower Card?"
Xu Huo accessed his personal interface, locating the card panel within the instance description. Selecting the black-colored icon associated with the Flower Scepter card, he attempted clicking it, but nothing occurred.
Next, he examined the White Card 9. Clicking on the glowing floral icon underneath revealed a line of text:
"Congratulations, Player, on obtaining a ’Mutant Plant Amity’ card! For the next twelve hours, you will receive enthusiastic hospitality from mutant plants!"
Xu Huo relayed the content of the White Card 9 aloud, as though referring to the Flower Card. Lin Qian and Da Hu were left momentarily speechless. Lin Qian broke the silence, "I have a bad feeling about this."
Her words barely fell before the maze walls on either side of the passage erupted like blooming flowers, as gigantic buds popped out one after another. Brimming with sharp thorns, the flowers seemingly opened their mouths, spewing sticky fluids in torrents!
"Run!"
Without hesitation, the trio bolted forward. But even with the aid of props, they couldn’t outmaneuver the overwhelming number of mutant plants blocking their way. After crossing the passage, they faced a new threat in the next corridor as even more mutant plants surged forth. Not only Man-Eating Flowers, but vine-like entities adorned with arm-length spines straddled walls and stretched from the ground up to tens of meters high!
A height of tens of meters wasn’t an issue for experienced players. Yet reaching the top only introduced them to yet another peril—small mutants flowers concealed within higher walls began spraying toxic mist. The dense black fog obscured vision and provided perfect cover for lurking mutant plants. Lin Qian, caught off guard, was suddenly ensnared by a net-like mutant plant descending from above, trapping even her defensive barriers as it lifted her entirely upward!
With enemies clustering ahead and countless mutant plants preparing an all-out assault, Xu Huo retrieved several bottles of alcohol from his luggage, hurled them forward, and grabbed a lighter:
"Clink!"
Fiery flames instantly ignited the passage, withering the mutant plants on both sides of the maze with equal fervor. The scorching fire crackled as it swept through the oppressive walls!
