Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 1171: Dimensionality Reduction Strike

Chapter 1171: Chapter 1171: Dimensionality Reduction Strike

Xu Huo had no objections to the route chosen, saying wherever to go, they’d go.

This, on the contrary, made Song Xiaohua a bit uncertain. He quickly said, "So we just start walking? What if the road’s wrong?"

"You picked the route, so of course you’re responsible," Xu Huo replied matter-of-factly.

Song Xiaohua sneaked a glance at him. "You’re really going to hold me accountable afterward? You’re not going to go back on the promise you made earlier, right?"

Xu Huo pretended to have no memory. "What promise did I make to you?"

Song Xiaohua also pretended to lose all recollection. "Didn’t you say that after I teamed up with you to come onto the island, once we leave, you’ll sign a contract making me your agent?"

"I never said that." Xu Huo quickened his pace and moved forward.

Song Xiaohua caught up, grinning. "But wasn’t that obviously the implication given the context at the time? What’s wrong with becoming a celebrity? Look at the folks Wang Xiaohui hired—barely any actual skills, and they’re all so cocky."

"Still, they’re pretty impressive—all Rank-C Players," Xu Huo remarked. "Currently, the Special Defense Department in Zone 014 has the largest concentration of Rank-C players. It’s actually harder for regular players to rank up to C than for those in the Special Defense Department. You can’t say they’re not competent."

Song Xiaohua waved his hand dismissively. "I’ve seen them, and with the Special Defense Department added in, they’re nothing special, if you ask me..."

Before he could finish the sentence, Xu Huo, walking ahead, suddenly stopped. At this moment, the two had crossed through a section of Ruins Space, only to find themselves face-to-face with two hostile groups of players. The two groups were less than twenty meters apart, and Xu Huo and Song Xiaohua had unknowingly walked right into the middle.

Song Xiaohua startled, exclaiming, "What’s going on?!"

"Didn’t you say you had good luck?" Xu Huo gestured with his chin toward the groups on either side. "Walk out here and you’ve already managed to piss off everybody. Your luck’s really something else."

Song Xiaohua hurriedly backed away and addressed the surrounding groups, "Excuse us, everyone, we didn’t mean to intrude. Please, continue with what you’re doing. We’re leaving!"

All the players from the Special Defense Department on the island today were Rank-C. Though numerous, they didn’t have the manpower to set up traps everywhere. Of those present, half had been with Director Lü in the safe zone days prior. They recognized Xu Huo and understood why the Special Defense Department hadn’t directly confronted him. They were also aware that several government officials involved in the mandatory evolution incident had been assassinated—information that came from a video leaked from the safe house, which had spread despite restrictions imposed by senior officials.

Nearly every Rank-C player had watched the video. Even though Xu Huo had concealed his appearance and altered his voice, observant individuals could identify him based on his gait and speaking patterns—his efforts to disguise himself seemed half-hearted at best.

Thus, they understood that Xu Huo was unmistakably issuing a warning to the Special Defense Department.

From the players’ perspective, however, this wasn’t unreasonable. It wasn’t merely a matter of identity or position. Many who participated in capturing the experiment subjects were also horrified by the information recorded. The extent to which human depravity could cross boundaries was unimaginable.

As such, many players respected Xu Huo’s actions and admired him. This explained why people like Guo Nan and Yi Huijun were so cooperative earlier.

And more importantly, Xu Huo genuinely had the ability to back it up.

This made Song Xiaohua’s comments irrelevant to the Special Defense Department, especially since Xu Huo was standing right there in front of them.

The other group, however, was a different story. One bald-headed man stepped forward, shouting, "Stop right there!"

He was addressing Xu Huo and Song Xiaohua.

"What’s the issue?" Xu Huo turned his gaze toward him.

"Got quite the attitude, huh? You don’t even take the Special Defense Department seriously!" The bald man’s vicious eyes locked onto them. "Two people daring to team up and come in here—you must be pretty capable!"

"Should I take that to mean," Xu Huo raised a hand, signaling the man to calm down, before continuing, "that you just had a head-on clash with the Special Defense Department’s elite squad, know perfectly well you can’t win, but don’t want to slink away in embarrassment, so you’re targeting two bystanders to show off your strength?"

"Or are you just plain stupid?"

"Facing off with an eight-person team against a twelve-man Special Defense Department squad."

"While the former sounds a bit more deliberate, from my perspective, stupidity takes the lead here. Otherwise, why would you pick a fight with a two-person team that dared to come in here unafraid?"

The bald man was momentarily speechless, but his face quickly contorted with rage. He charged forward toward Xu Huo, though not without some caution—he threw out a prop first before charging.

In this space where the fabric of order was chaotic, all it took was to place a few Spatial Barriers within the Cubic Space ahead. Props and abilities had a hard time functioning because most Rank-C items, and even Rank-B items, hadn’t reached the level where they could completely ignore obstacles or distance. As such, using spatial barriers to nullify props and abilities here acted as a sort of dimensional suppression. Since the opposing side lacked Space-oriented Super Evolution, they weren’t particularly sensitive to spatial alterations and could only rely on Defense Props to passively fend it off.

While Xu Huo’s Ray Blade wasn’t powerful enough to pierce through Defense Props, he had other tools. The bald man’s Defense Prop was no match for a Rank-A Prop.

Thus, in the very moment he took his first step, his head had already separated from his body.

It was almost as though someone had blinked—one moment the bald man was alive, the next, he was dead. And the one who had acted appeared to not have moved an inch, not even lifting a finger. Even the members of the Special Defense Department squad across from them involuntarily twitched their eyelids. This wasn’t just a matter of speed; they simply couldn’t perceive any of Xu Huo’s movements!

A few players with higher Evolution Rates or heightened perception abilities began discerning the disparity.

"This is Super Evolution," remarked the team leader on the opposing side. "And not just your average level of strength."

Typically, regardless of the type of Super Evolution, for a long period it only allowed an Evolver to slightly surpass ordinary players. Those lacking sufficient talent might not see significant progress for years. For example, Psychic-oriented Super Evolution often left individuals stuck at the stage of externalizing spiritual power, unable to establish a proper Spiritual World, and requiring auxiliary props to advance.

Similarly, for Space-oriented Super Evolution, affecting or controlling objects via spatial manipulation was challenging; even achieving faster movement within spatial dimensions required substantial time and effort.

As for physically focused Super Evolution, skills such as immunity to toxins or enhanced self-healing might initially only manifest as marginally better strength and speed compared to regular individuals.

Thus, within the same Rank-C level, unless their rate of evolution was exceptionally fast, Super Evolvers were often part of the top-tier but still within reach of other skilled players.

However, when it came to those who had achieved advanced evolution, fellow evolvers of the same rank often couldn’t even rely on their evolved sensory abilities to detect the target’s movements or energy fluctuations. Without the support of Advanced Items, even other Super Evolvers struggled to keep up!

This was the stark difference in power.
