Chapter 94 S-class, Ghost Blade!
Chapter 94: Chapter 94 S-class, Ghost Blade!
Chen Wei wasn’t interested in who had placed bets on him; he was standing in the fighting ring, curious only about one thing—how much of a beating could his next opponent take?
Given he’d been ranked S-class, he better not disappoint.
Following the rules spelled out by Guan Shanyue earlier, Chen Wei calculated in his mind that defeating just one S-class opponent should be enough to raise him to A-class.
Definitely, taking down bosses would grant more experience than small fries. If he focused on low-level fighters, Chen Wei reckoned he’d have to beat several hundred from D-class to rise to A-class.
"My God, is that Ghost Blade?"
At the sound, Chen Wei looked over.
He saw a man with long hair, dressed in a striped suit like himself, emerging from the passage. The man also wore a blood-red leather jacket over his suit, with tiny tufts of fur at the collar and cuffs, giving off an indifferent vibe to hot or cold.
His mask covered only his eyes; it was as purple as his hair with a trim of silver and diamond embellishments, appearing quite luxurious.
If you knew it was a man, fine; if not, you might mistake him for a woman.
He had numerous tattoos, mostly cross designs, on every finger, and several cross necklaces hung around his neck—a bizarre ensemble.
Upon Ghost Blade’s arrival, the staff didn’t dare delay; they quickly moved a wooden ladder to the side of the ring and pulled up the rope barrier to facilitate his entry.
Then they removed it again.
"So you’re the one challenging S-class?" Ghost Blade’s voice was soft, effeminate to the point of sounding eunuch-like.
"Defeating a brute like Bear King, I must admit you have some skill, but I advise you to take it step by step, to stay grounded rather than always dreaming of... ascending to the heavens!"
No sooner had Ghost Blade finished speaking than Chen Wei saw a flash of cold light followed by the knife launching like an arrow!
With a tilt of his head, Chen Wei dodged and then clamped the icy blade between two fingers, discovering it was a silver dagger.
"My God! He actually caught Ghost Blade’s Flying Dagger!"
"Did I bet on the wrong side again?"
"It couldn’t be wrong. He only used a fraction of his strength for that throw. It’s normal that he caught it, no need to worry."
...
"Actually catching my Flying Dagger, you’re better than I expected," said Ghost Blade as he twisted his pale, slender hand. Like magic, he suddenly produced three more blades of different types from seemingly nowhere.
There was a dagger, a Shark Tooth Blade, and a Triangular Military Spike.
Ghost Blade lifted his hands, smiled wickedly, and stuck out his pierced tongue, decorated with multiple studs, to lick the blade-tip, "I hope you don’t pass out or die from excessive blood loss before I’m satisfied."
Without waiting for Chen Wei to reply, Ghost Blade suddenly closed in, his arms swinging the blades like the claws of a wild beast, raising them high before slashing down.
Hmm!
Ghost Blade was shocked, not expecting to miss entirely, unable to sense Chen Wei’s presence at all.
Turning around was futile; Chen Wei appeared behind Ghost Blade like a phantom, hands in his pockets, and kicked him squarely in the groin.
Taken by surprise, Ghost Blade went down face-first, looking as ridiculous as one could imagine.
In that instant, the entire place went silent.
They couldn’t have dreamed that an S-class fighter would be so utterly toyed with and humiliated by someone who had just advanced to B-class.
"To hurt me, your speed is still far too slow. Do you have any other moves? If not, here are two options for you—one, roll out of the ring yourself, two, I will extend a helping hand and send you on your way," said Chen Wei as he yawned, his expectations of Ghost Blade already dropped to zero.
Turning back, he looked at Guan Shanyue with slightly reproachful eyes as if to say, is this the place you were talking about?
Guan Shanyue was not one to back down either, and glared back with eyes that seemed to say, "Who knew that three years later, you little freak would still be so abnormally strong!"
Ghost Blade, this guy, Guan Shanyue had exchanged blows with him before. Without being careful, there was indeed a chance of getting injured by him, although once she got serious, she still firmly secured the victory.
But Guan Shanyue had to admit that Ghost Blade was indeed a decent opponent, suited for sparring and improving oneself, revealing weaknesses.
Before encountering Chen Wei, Guan Shanyue always thought so; after meeting him, she suddenly realized, Ghost Blade didn’t seem as strong as she had imagined.
Bang!
A palm slapped onto the arena, supporting the upper body as she stood up.
Ghost Blade then did something that no one expected, he actually reached out and took off his mask, put on glasses, and took off his red leather coat.
The corners of his eyes curved downward, his face drooped, and he said with a forced smile, "You’re the first one to embarrass me like this; rest assured, as a token of my thanks, I will let you die without pain!"
He licked the blade tip again, and this time, the sharp edge cut Ghost Blade’s tongue. He had no intention of stopping the bleeding; instead, he sucked on it, savoring the taste of his own blood.
This made Ghost Blade even more excited, allowing him to wield a faster blade!
Chen Wei had to die; if he didn’t, how would he establish his prestige here in the future, how would he command respect?
"So fast!"
"I only saw a shadow!"
"No wonder, it turns out Ghost Blade wasn’t serious before. That kid is definitely dead now."
"Such a pity, if he hadn’t become arrogant, if he hadn’t provoked an S-level, his future would have been boundless."
"A promising young life gone too soon, too soon... Hahaha." While saying so, he couldn’t help but laugh out loud—he had bet all on Ghost Blade to win; although the earnings were modest, it was certainly better than losing everything.
"You’re all wrong, he’s going to win, he’s definitely going to win," the words of Black Fox were met with mocking laughter from those who had bet on Ghost Blade.
"You, you just believe too much in the favor of Lady Luck, you’re clearly a newcomer; here, S-level and A-level are completely different concepts."
What he meant was simple, hoping that Black Fox would understand that a blind cat running into a dead mouse might happen once, but definitely not a second time.
This time, Chen Wei was bound to lose without a doubt!
Black Fox didn’t reply.
The man thought she was convinced by his words, contentedly turned his head, his gaze returning to the arena.
Hmm?
Right after that, the smile on his face quickly disappeared.
His eyes began to search anxiously in the arena for Ghost Blade’s figure.
How was it that he disappeared in less than the blink of an eye?
At that moment, only Chen Wei was left on the stage; the roped barriers were still intact.
The man was stumped; could it be a space-time rift had opened and sucked in Ghost Blade?
He knew, of course, that such a thing was impossible. He turned to ask others what exactly he had missed.
But he noticed that at this moment, everyone was looking up.
He did the same.
