Chapter 91: Chapter 91 Jade-faced Fox Guan Shanyue
Little puppy?
If Chen Wei knew that he appeared as such an image in Tang Qing’s eyes, he’d probably vomit three liters of blood.
However, his attention was currently focused on his fourth senior sister, Guan Shanyue.
"Look at what you’re saying, do I have that much strength? Or are you saying that after marrying in for three years, all you did was serve others, neglecting your training until you became physically weak?" Guan Shanyue released her grip, asking with a hint of provocation.
"Joking, not to mention three years, even if I did nothing for thirty years, defeating my senior sister with just one finger would still be a breeze," Chen Wei said to Guan Shanyue with the same playful tone they’d always used.
The two had been fighting each other since they were kids, neither willing to accept defeat from the other. And it was precisely because of this that their skills rapidly improved with each fight, always finding weaknesses to strengthen.
"Quite arrogant, eh, kid? Come on, shall we spar?" Guan Shanyue gestured with her thumb over her shoulder.
"Who’s afraid?" Chen Wei hadn’t sparred with Guan Shanyue in a long time and having heard she had sealed the title of War God, he wanted to test the depth of her skills.
"Alright! Get in the car, senior sister will take you to a good spot I recently found."
"Okay." Chen Wei walked around to the other side, opened the passenger door, and climbed in.
It must be said, the chassis of this special off-road vehicle was simply too high; next to it, the police cars looked like tiny toy cars, pitifully small.
As the car door shut, Chen Wei remembered something, "Right, I should give a heads-up to our sixth senior sister."
"No need." Guan Shanyue turned the steering wheel, driving out of the public security bureau, eyes on the road ahead, while saying, "I already told her before I came here."
"Oh." Chen Wei put down his phone and pressed the power button, the screen went dark.
After about ten minutes.
Chen Wei couldn’t hold back his impatience, "Senior sister, haven’t we arrived yet? Where are you taking me?"
"Don’t rush, we’ll get there soon, it’s a secret for now," Guan Shanyue said mysteriously.
Chen Wei remained silent, deciding to go along with her temperament.
Another seven or eight minutes passed and the vehicle finally stopped in a remote suburban area.
"A karaoke hall?" Chen Wei got out of the car, slamming the door with a bang. The hall seemed like a relic from the last century, old, with ivy creeping up the walls.
"On the surface, yes, that’s correct."
On the surface?
Before Chen Wei could ask, Guan Shanyue had already grabbed his hand and started leading him inside, "Let’s hurry up, we can’t waste any time."
Chen Wei didn’t resist at all as he ascended the stairs. He noticed Guan Shanyue producing something resembling a pass, which prompted the guard to step aside and let them through.
The heavy door swung open, and as they entered the karaoke hall, Chen Wei found it was even more rundown than he imagined.
He followed Guan Shanyue to an iron door that looked like an underground entrance.
Guan Shanyue leaned in, her right eye scanning a device, and after her pupil was identified, the iron door unlocked and swung open.
"Senior sister, what is this place? You better not be leading me astray, or else our eldest sister won’t let you off," Chen Wei jokingly said.
"Hey, how can you talk like that? If anyone is going to corrupt anyone, it’s you corrupting me, not the other way around." Guan Shanyue said, exasperated.
Guan Shanyue had witnessed firsthand just how powerful Chen Wei’s words could be. With merely his words he had used the Hawk Faction’s hand to effortlessly slaughter more than a hundred thousand enemy troops from Gentleman Country that had invaded the Great Xia Borderlands.
Following that incident, the former president of the Hawk Faction resigned on his own initiative. The new president, not wanting to repeat the same mistake, even spent a significant sum of money to build a think tank specifically to analyze every word Chen Wei said, to avoid being tricked into a pit again.
That sort of person claiming she could corrupt him? Who would believe that!
Guan Shanyue felt that, if it really came down to it, even if Chen Wei sold himself, she would willingly help him count the money.
"I’m just joking," Chen Wei chuckled.
"Alright, I won’t keep you in the dark anymore; this place is actually an underground boxing ring that’s become popular over the past two years. Lots of masters come here; it’s very suitable for improving one’s strength." When Guan Shanyue had some free time, she’d come here to beat up a couple of people for fun and to vent the pressure she held within.
"Do you come here often, senior sister?" Chen Wei asked curiously.
"Just occasionally for some fun."
In front of the second iron door, Chen Wei and Guan Shanyue were asked to put on masks.
There were many styles of masks, animals such as wolf heads, pig heads, bull heads, and some odd ones, fox masks...
Chen Wei casually chose a pure white mask that fit snugly against his face and wouldn’t impede movement – clearly custom-made.
Guan Shanyue picked a white fox mask which, upon wearing, made her appear more shrewd and a bit more cunning.
It also added a touch of charm, especially paired with her short hair, leather jacket, and skinny jeans.
"How do I look? Pretty or not?" Guan Shanyue asked up close.
"Do you even have to ask? Very fascinating indeed."
For a moment, Guan Shanyue couldn’t tell whether Chen Wei was complimenting her or insulting her.
Seeing that both had put on their masks, the man pressed a switch nearby, the second iron door opened, and he gestured invitingly, "Please, this way."
Chen Wei could feel the man’s voice trembling, as if he was very afraid of Guan Shanyue’s presence.
Curiosity sparked, yet he couldn’t just ask outright.
He then followed Guan Shanyue into the underground black boxing ring.
Along the way, Guan Shanyue explained the rules of the matches to him. There were two ways to make money: one was to win against an opponent – the higher the opponent’s rank, the higher the prize money.
The second was through betting; if you bet correctly on the winner, you could collect the prize money.
Here, fighters were classified from high to low into six ranks: SSS, SS, S, A, B, C.
"So what rank are you, senior sister?" Chen Wei asked directly.
"Me? Currently, I’m at SS," Guan Shanyue disclosed without concealment.
SS, ranked second – now Chen Wei roughly understood why the doorman was so afraid.
"Look! Isn’t that the Jade-faced Fox!" someone noticed Guan Shanyue’s presence and shouted excitedly.
"My god, it really is the Jade-faced Fox. It seems tonight’s match is going to get exciting."
"I wonder if anyone will be able to break her 100% win rate tonight."
"If someone really does and bets right, they could get rich instantly!"
"Yeah, otherwise, they might bleed money."
"Risk it for the biscuit, a bicycle might turn into a motorcycle!"
...
"Looks like you’re quite famous here, senior sister!" The scene had caused more of a stir than Chen Wei had imagined, to the point where people were more interested in Guan Shanyue’s arrival than in the fighters still desperately battling in the ring.
"Just so-so. I believe you’ll get more famous than me soon enough." Guan Shanyue was not flattering Chen Wei, simply stating a fact.
Before long, people started to notice Chen Wei’s presence.
"Who is that guy? Why is he standing next to the Jade-faced Fox?"
"Never seen him before, he’s a new face."
"Good heavens, the Jade-faced Fox is actually talking to someone! They seem to have a very good relationship, right?"
"Someone’s probably going to be green with envy."
