Chapter 433: Chapter 433 Cut a Bloody Path to Survival

After washing her face, Zhao Xinlian stayed calm for seven or eight more minutes. Only when she heard Chen Wei calling her to go out for breakfast did she leave the bathroom.

Coming to the dining table and seeing not just the sumptuous but also exquisite breakfast, Zhao Xinlian pulled out a chair from underneath the table with anticipation, picked up her chopsticks, and was about to grab some food when her movement suddenly froze.

Looking up, her gaze carrying a trace of wariness, she asked, "This breakfast, it’s not going to be ten thousand yuan again, is it?"

"How could that be?"

Just as Zhao Xinlian’s heart, which had jumped to her throat, began to settle, it only managed to halfway descend when she heard Chen Wei continue, "Ten thousand yuan is just the price for a bowl of noodles. This breakfast, at least one hundred thousand, sounds reasonable, right?"

Reasonable my ass! A hundred thousand for breakfast, probably even the richest man in the world has never had such an expensive breakfast!

Zhao Xinlian put down her chopsticks, "I’m not eating, I’m not hungry."

Hearing this, Chen Wei couldn’t help but burst into loud laughter, wiping away the tears that had squeezed out from the corners of his eyes. The pouting expression on Zhao Xinlian’s face was just too comical, "I’m just joking with you. Go ahead and eat, it’s on the house, consider it the overnight fee from last night."

"Overnight fee?" However she heard it, Zhao Xinlian thought these three words sounded odd.

But with delicious food right in front of her, how could she let it go to waste?

And it’s free!

Zhao Xinlian cast aside all thoughts unrelated to eating that filled her mind and picked up her chopsticks to start gobbling down her food.

Being able to eat such delicious food first thing in the morning, Zhao Xinlian felt for a moment that she was definitely the happiest woman in the world.

Why hadn’t she felt this way before?

Could it really be because she hadn’t let go of her prejudices against him? So she was unable to see his good points and only saw his faults?

"What’s wrong? Not to your taste?" Chen Wei noticed Zhao Xinlian’s gaze, met her eyes, and asked.

"No, just thinking about something."

"What’s the matter?" Chen Wei pressed.

"It’s none of your business."

Thinking about you...

How could Zhao Xinlian possibly have the face to say such things out loud?

Chen Wei was very tactful and didn’t force his warm face against Zhao Xinlian’s cold butt.

After all, he had already done so last night.

After breakfast, the two of them went out together, picking up the documents that had been printed a day in advance from the study.

If there were electronic files, why go to the trouble of printing them out?

That’s because Zhao Xinlian simply felt that paper documents were more persuasive than electronic files.

To avoid any unexpected situations on the road, Chen Wei took the initiative to drive, so that he could respond promptly if needed.

Zhao Xinlian nodded in agreement without insisting otherwise.

She was very clear that following Chen Wei’s suggestions was the best choice, without a doubt.

Sitting in the passenger seat.

Seeing Zhao Xinlian buckle her seatbelt, Chen Wei started the car, drove out of the villa, and left the villa complex.

Chen Wei might not have visited the Zhao Family’s home many times since they weren’t too fond of him due to his status as a son-in-law who joined through marriage, but he remembered this route very well.

"Actually, I’m very worried about something right now," Zhao Xinlian said out of the blue.

"What are you worried about?" Chen Wei asked.

"I’m worried that even with evidence, Grandma won’t take our side. Her health has been really bad lately, and the doctor has told us to be psychologically prepared at any time. At least before Grandma dies, I don’t think she would want to see the family fall apart. She might choose to deceive herself so that she can face Grandpa with a clear conscience," Zhao Xinlian voiced her concerns.

"With that old lady’s personality, it’s indeed possible," Chen Wei said frankly.

"What ’old lady’? She’s your Grandma too..." This comment was almost blurted out subconsciously, but halfway through, Zhao Xinlian realized something was amiss and abruptly swallowed her words, "Regardless, she’s still my grandma. The least you could do is show some respect, right?"

"With that old lady’s personality, it’s indeed possible. Is that better?" Chen Wei asked.

"Not really," Zhao Xinlian said with a reproachful glance.

"Oh! They’re here already?"

"They’re here already? What do you mean ’they’re here already’?" Zhao Xinlian was confused by Chen Wei’s words.

"What else could it be? The ones coming to kill you," Chen Wei said startlingly.

"Ah!" Zhao Xinlian didn’t understand how Chen Wei could utter such words with such a calm and composed tone.

"Don’t scare me," Zhao Xinlian said.

"I’m not scaring you. Those guys clearly look like they lick blood off their knives’ edges. If Zhao Shiren could mobilize them, you could guess with your toes—he never intended to let you live," Chen Wei analyzed calmly.

"So what do we do now? Drive to the public security bureau? If I remember correctly, taking the left turn up ahead will get us to one. I think if we get inside, they probably wouldn’t dare do anything," Zhao Xinlian suggested.

However, when they reached the fork in the road, Chen Wei unhesitantly chose to turn right towards the Zhao Family Master’s home instead.

In just an instant, this made Zhao Xinlian suspect that Chen Wei had been bought off by her uncle.

Then, the vehicles following them began to speed up, catching up. They sandwiched Zhao Xinlian’s car from the front and the back, forcing it to a stop.

"No choice now," Chen Wei pressed the brake pedal and stopped the car.

They were then rammed several meters further.

"What do you mean ’no choice now’? Are you planning to just give up?" Zhao Xinlian’s eyebrows furrowed tightly, surprised that Chen Wei would give up voluntarily.

Was Zhao Xinlian afraid of dying? Of course she was—who wouldn’t be afraid of death?

But she was more afraid that after her death, no one would stand up to expose Zhao Shiren’s schemes.

If things kept going like this, the Zhao family would be ruined by Zhao Shiren sooner or later!

"Give up? Huh?" Chen Wei looked puzzled, then smiled at Zhao Xinlian and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? What I meant was, we don’t have a choice but to fight back head-on. Did you think I wanted to surrender?"

"Fight back head-on?" Zhao Xinlian knew each of those four words individually but together they confused her.

"It means we have to fight our way out since we can’t hide. If we can’t avoid them, then we’ll have to carve out a path to survival," he said.

"Are you out of your mind? Didn’t you just say they’re the kind of people who lick blood off their knives’ edges? One or two might be manageable, but against so many, how could you possibly take them all on by yourself? Step on the gas, swerve hard, maybe we can break through," she said.

Zhao Xinlian didn’t want to take risks, and she didn’t want Chen Wei to act recklessly either.

"So what? They’re just trash. Don’t worry, I can handle them," Chen Wei said as he opened the car door and stepped out.

Before closing the car door, he didn’t forget to remind Zhao Xinlian, "When I fight them, I might not be able to watch out for you. Lock the car door from the inside and no matter what happens, don’t get out, and don’t open the door."

"Eh!" Zhao Xinlian seemed like she wanted to say something, but Chen Wei gave her no chance.

The car door slammed shut.
