Chapter 377: Chapter 377: Making an Enemy

Situ Cheng staggered back several steps in fright, nearly falling flat on his backside before the quick-handed butler caught him, preventing a fall.

"Tell me! Tell me this isn’t true!" Situ Cheng’s mother died in childbirth, and he was raised single-handedly by his father, Situ Yi. Their relationship could be described as deeply affectionate. Now, not only was Situ Yi dead, but his only son had died as well, a tragic and gruesome death, his body returned in a coffin.

Situ Cheng simply refused to accept this devastating news. He hoped to hear from others that it was all a joke, a tasteless joke!

"It’s true, this really is the Family Master, and the body of Young Master Situ!" Aside from the butler, no one dared to reveal this fact, for a simple reason: they did not have the butler’s tenure.

The butler had been working for the Situ Family since his twenties, later becoming the old master’s right-hand man, practically a second father to Situ Cheng, which made him the most appropriate person to deliver the news.

Had anyone else spoken, they would probably have been struck down by Situ Cheng, either slapped or kicked away in a fit of rage.

Bang!

Situ Cheng’s fist clenched tightly, and he struck the iron railing hard, his knuckles raw and bleeding, heedless of the pain, grinding his teeth and making a chilling sound, his expression twisted and fearsome as he asked, "Who! Who did this?"

"Investigate! Go investigate now! I will tear those people to pieces, no matter who they are, even if it costs the entire Situ Family, I will make them pay with blood!"

Now that Situ Yi was dead, Situ Cheng held the most power in the Situ Family, even becoming the new Family Master.

No one dared to defy the Family Master’s orders, so they immediately set to work.

Meanwhile, in another part of town, Chen Wei had returned to the clinic with his senior sister, Xiao Ruoyun.

It was clear to see that the door had been pried open; Chen Wei could imagine how forcefully Xiao Ruoyun must have been abducted.

Chen Wei tried to push open the door, only to find it blocked by something on the other side.

He pushed a little harder.

"Ah!" A young, shrill scream came as the door opened, and then Chen Wei and Xiao Ruoyun saw Xiao Xiaoyun tumble out like a ball.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t expect you to be behind the door," Chen Wei apologized.

"Master!" Xiao Xiaoyun wasn’t at all upset with Chen Wei. Seeing Xiao Ruoyun return, her face lit up with joy. She stood up, rubbed her sore bottom, and ran quickly towards her.

Clinging tightly to Xiao Ruoyun, burying herself in her embrace, tears rolled uncontrollably down her cheeks as she said with a sob, "Master, it’s so good you’re alright, so good you’ve come back! I was really worried, so afraid something had happened to you!"

"Don’t worry, see? I’m fine," Xiao Ruoyun said with a motherly smile, gently hugging Xiao Xiaoyun and stroking her head.

Chen Wei didn’t intrude on their moment of reunion, instead beginning to collect the herbs that had scattered everywhere when Situ Qing and his men had abducted Xiao Ruoyun.

"Master, how did you get back? Did the sheriff rescue you?" Xiao Xiaoyun didn’t call the police first; instead, she called Chen Wei. The reason was simple: Xiao Ruoyun had instructed her that if anything happened and she couldn’t resolve it herself, she should call Chen Wei. He would surely come and resolve everything effortlessly.

"No, my junior brother saved me," Xiao Ruoyun shook her head.

"What! Just him, alone?" Xiao Xiaoyun couldn’t believe it and turned her gaze towards Chen Wei in disbelief.

"Yes, just him," Xiao Ruoyun affirmed with certainty.

"This is just too exaggerated, isn’t it? For you to have been saved from those bad guys by him alone..." Xiao Xiaoyun found it hard to believe, yet she didn’t think Master Xiao Ruoyun would lie to her.

"Xiaoyun, your martial uncle is really powerful. Not to mention just the little Situ Family, even if thousands aimed to take my life, he could rescue me single-handedly without a scratch," Xiao Ruoyun said, her eyes sparkling with admiration as she looked at Chen Wei.

"Is he really that amazing?" Xiao Xiaoyun still found it hard to believe.

She even wondered if Chen Wei had given her master some kind of love potion, or brainwashed or hypnotized her...

"Wei, I’ll help you clean up."

"Sister, I can handle it by myself. You just had a scare, and now you need to rest. Go upstairs to sleep, I’ve got this," Chen Wei declined.

"But I can’t sleep," Xiao Ruoyun pursed her lips.

"Sleep you must, otherwise, shall I help you?" As soon as Chen Wei finished speaking, his raised hand flickered with the cold light of a Silver Needle.

"Eh! I think I’d better not," Xiao Ruoyun forced a smile, raised her hands defensively in front of her, and took a few steps back, truly afraid that Chen Wei would stick that Silver Needle in her.

"It’s okay, don’t worry, I’m here. Go upstairs and rest," Chen Wei urged, pushing Xiao Ruoyun toward the staircase from behind.

"Alright, I get it, isn’t it enough that I’m going to sleep?" With Chen Wei’s insistence being a bit too strong, Xiao Ruoyun had no choice but to relent.

The relationship between the two of them made Xiao Xiaoyun, watching from the side, wonder who exactly was the senior disciple and who was the junior.

As the senior disciple, why should she listen to the junior’s arrangements?

Unable to figure it out, Xiao Xiaoyun was truly baffled.

After sending Xiao Ruoyun upstairs, Chen Wei returned to the first floor. Noticing Xiao Xiaoyun’s gaze, Chen Wei smiled and asked, "What? Still holding a grudge because I made you fall on your butt?

"No way, I’m not one to hold grudges. Besides, you’re my martial uncle, how could I possibly resent you?" Xiao Xiaoyun retorted.

"Martial uncle... Oh! You call my sister and master that, so calling me your martial uncle does make sense indeed," Chen Wei nodded in agreement.

"Martial Uncle, did you really rescue master all by yourself? Without anyone’s help?" Xiao Xiaoyun’s eyes widened with curiosity as she looked up at Chen Wei and asked.

"Yeah, am I not enough by myself?" Chen Wei countered.

"Of course, that’s the Situ Family we’re talking about!" Xiao Xiaoyun had grown up in River City and knew full well how terrifying the Situ Family was.

"A mere Situ Family isn’t worth making a fuss in front of me. If I wish, I could make them disappear in the blink of an eye, believe it or not?" Chen Wei asked again.

"Ghost stories, you’re just bragging," Xiao Xiaoyun said exactly what was on her mind.

She always felt that this martial uncle wasn’t as annoying as she had imagined, and he didn’t put on airs; he was quite humorous, actually.

"By the way, I heard from master earlier that you and Great-Auntie went to the Imperial Capital. How come you rushed back so quickly?" This puzzled Xiao Xiaoyun, "Even sports cars aren’t that fast."

"Sports cars, no, but fighter jets, yes."
